Fucking Christ, I read the same page over again... Linus has some reviews/benchmarks up for the 550 if anyone's interested.
hdmi -> DVI also I wouldn't run 3d vision surround with only a gig (4602win)
i'm not talking about 460 2win
i'm not talking about 460 2win
good
not 2 months, more like a year or two. 400 series doesn't even have a dual-gpu card, and the 460 2win thing is unofficial.
Refresh is in q4, bra. Not all that far off.
Yes please
http://www.guru3d.com/article/geforce-gtx-550-ti-review-msi-cyclone-ii-oc/ here's one review, it generally performs a bit faster than a 5770

a review's a review
No need for an argument, all reviews are valid. Is it me or are flagship cards getting more and more expensive by the generation?
Back in 05, wasn't the 7800 GTX $499 when it came out? I'm reading my August 2005 issue of Custom PC right now. They listed the 7800 GTX for 400 pounds. I cherish this magazine. it's thick, like half an inch and it's packed full of awesomely dated stats and hardware. I should post scans of the ads for these 500Watt MODULAR PSU's that were top of the line.
technology is always expensive when it comes out, look at the 8800 ultra top dogs when they came out
Back in 05, wasn't the 7800 GTX $499 when it came out?
The only cards I've ever owned were a 5200, 7300LE, two 7900GTX's, 8800GT, and a GTX260. I remember the 8800GT being around $200 when I got it.
technology is always expensive when it comes out, look at the 8800 ultra top dogs when they came out
yeah but now a flagship card is almost double what it was, gtx 295 was $500 on release(?) and now the 580 is $500
gtx 295 wasn't two 285s crammed into a single PCB (or two for that matter)
or two for that matter
Huh? I thought the 295 was a sammich card. [editline].[/editline]
Huh? I thought the 295 was a sammich card. [editline].[/editline] [img_thumb]http://media.bestofmicro.com/geforce-gtx-295,8-F-172671-13.jpg[/img_thumb]
It was, then they re-designed it.
And THIS is why the HD 6990 is better...
And THIS is why the HD 6990 is better...
570 sli beats the 6990 in majority of benchmarks [editline]17th March 2011[/editline]
Huh? I thought the 295 was a sammich card. [editline].[/editline] [img_thumb]http://media.bestofmicro.com/geforce-gtx-295,8-F-172671-13.jpg[/img_thumb]
Thats why I said (or two for that matter) theres sammich cards and non sammich someone on overclock.net actually has half a 295 working :v
And THIS is why the HD 6990 is better...
The 590 will be better most likely seeing it will have 2 580 GPUs
And THIS is why the HD 6990 is better...
why
http://vr-zone.com/articles/nvidia-geforce-gtx-590-final-specs-unveiled/11604.html Clocks of 612/1224/3420 make sense, but would not be enough to match a 6990, which does not surprise me at all due to the obvious power constraint. There is also a Finnish site http://plaza.fi/muropaketti/artikkelit/naytonohjaimet/ennakkokatsaus-nvidia-geforce-gtx-590, which seems to show 580 SLI at those same clocks are 10% slower than a 6990. Lastly, here are the confirmed TDP of the GTX 590 . Seems pretty realistic to me. It's simply not possible for a faster card with a worse performance per watt combined with power constraints. I suppose it could be a better card if it is quieter, and could be the case, but according to LinusTechTips video the 6990 doesn't exactly seem to be that much louder than a single 580 and is quieter than 580 SLI which contradicts acoustics measurements...but our ears aren't exactly dB measuring instruments with electronics in them are they :v: ......noise levels to me always seem so subjective, as something that is whiny would be much more noticeable than something just audible.
they only added .5 of an inch from the regular 580? :what:
Yeah which is weird because the 6990 is 2.5" longer than the 6970.
the 590 launch may be delayed to the 24th, the reason for the delay is unknown
And THIS is why the HD 6990 is better...
And what exactly is "THIS" point you're speaking of? [editline]18th March 2011[/editline]
[img_thumb]http://www.pctunerup.com/up//results/_201103/20110315225823_Cattura.PNG[/img_thumb] http://vr-zone.com/articles/nvidia-geforce-gtx-590-final-specs-unveiled/11604.html Clocks of 612/1224/3420 make sense, but would not be enough to match a 6990, which does not surprise me at all due to the obvious power constraint. Let's hope these cards can overclock well.
And THIS is why the HD 6990 is better...
so far nothing in this thread has actually said anything but positive about this card so what the fuck are you talking about?
Fanboyism?
they only added .5 of an inch from the regular 580? :what:
The PCB is seeded on top and bottom, which is why the cooler is the way it is.
I've always upgraded my PC once every 14 months and it's never seen me wrong thus far
