Okay, and?
the 590 launch may be delayed to the 24th, the reason for the delay is unknown
The drivers are late, so they say.
Gigabyte's GTX 590 has apparently been leaked (if it's true or not, we see):

microstutter + on vsync = Solved
Vsync doesn't completely solve microstuttering
There's still going to be a delay between each GPU on a hardware level that cannot be removed (they have reduced it though). Additionally, framerate drops below the refresh rate of the monitor where Vsync won't help you at all anyways. It only helps in reducing it with potential higher framerates where your Vsync caps at 60 but the GPU's don't have to produce anything higher. Some people would notice, others do not. I've never personally experimented with this but I do know it's a highly subjective observation and varies from person to person.

looks like they want to follow XFX with that ridiculous packaging
looks like they want to follow XFX with that ridiculous packaging
Yeah, I think it's made to fit into Gigabyte's G1 boards.
What's awesome though is the 3D Mark scores.
Even though its over the top, the 590 packaging is awesome.
Is microstutter more noticable on Nvidia dualgpu cards versus ATi? Or versus dual cards?
I would think Microstutters would be less in dual cards due to less actual physical space.
ATI used to be much worse, but they're about even now. It won't go away completely until the new spec is out.
I like the "Suitcase Nuke" look of that packaging.

That pelican case tells me that the card won't be affordable at all.

the fuck do you expect it's two 580 GPUs
If we're basically buying 12 inches to our internet penis I want it to look badass, which it does. The suitcase works for me.

They are only just now teasing it, it looks like. Something crysis related. I would laugh so much at crytek if they make a DX11 patch update for people only with Nvidia 5xx cards.
Asus card spotted, packaging is quite a bit more standard this time

the double backplates are interesting, wonder why they didn't just use one full coverage backplate
other than that it looks pretty damn nice
850 retail price. I'll come back in 10 years.
Niiiiiiiiceeee. I would love to get my hands on that card. My guess this card would perform a lil' bit better than the 6990? oh and before I forget, is the ASUS ARES better than the 6990?

FYI, everyone has their own definition of affordability, and I am certainly not talking about the price average people can place into buying a video card.
I found this on Overclock.net: http://www.mediafire.com/?08v922e93jew2wv (you have to download because the Youtube video has been removed).
A video of a unboxing of the Asus' card, it's about of the same size as a GTX 580.
Also... benchmark (Aliens Vs. Predators)!

what's the 6990 get?
what's the 6990 get?
don't know how those settings compare because I never bothered to benchmark using AvP, but according to this the 6990 gets 78 FPS average at 1920x1200. I really doubt the 590 is that much better, so I'd just wait on official benchmarks.
1920x1080, hahahahah
2560x1600 or bust
Agreed, why test a card at such a low res. Lets make the test cpu limited.. yeah.. smart.

Man when he plugged in the card to PCIe and moved the card around and tilted the board I was just like "Why the fuck....."
don't know how those settings compare because I never bothered to benchmark using AvP, but according to this the 6990 gets 78 FPS average at 1920x1200. It would also mean the 590 is faster than 580 SLI, which isn't possible. The chart runs with no AA and at 1920 x 1080, while the review runs 4xAA 1920 x 1200. It's obvious the 590 is not going to be a faster card due to clocks, I suppose only at lower resolutions and in games which favor Nvidia. Judging by the looks of the fan though it's probably quieter but I'd rather dish out my money for 2 separate cards instead.
Dual GPU cards this generation are just an absolute fail in my books and if this card is priced above $750 there's no reason to buy it. Just like there's really no reason to purchase a 6990 when you can grab 2 6950's for cheaper and unlock the cores if possible or just simply give a light OC and deal with subjectively lower noise levels.
Just ran the benchmark on two 580-3s with tex quality 3 and ave was 84.
There's no way in HELL either dual card will be getting that at 2560x1600.

Time to create a new thread about the GTX 590 release! Waiting to see some benchmarks soon.
