I was given two ipod touch (3g) to fix, and one gives me a 1604 error when I try to restore, and the other isnt detected by itunes, but shows up by the little USB icon in the tray.
It's ok guys. I got ONE to work. I just used a different computer.
I was trying to restore one, it gave me an error, but I've fixed it. Now the second ipod just seems bricked.
Have you tried putting the one that isn't fixed into DFU mode, then restoring it? DFU mode is accessed by powering down the phone (while it is plugged into the computer), holding both sleep and home for 10 seconds (exactly) then letting go of sleep and holding home for another 10 seconds. A little popup should happen in iTunes, and you should be able to restore it from there.
I tried but doesnt turn on at all. It's completely unresponsive aside from my PC detecting it as an unknown usb device.
Have you tried a different cable? I have had Apple cables that sometimes give nothing but problems?
I dont have another cable on me. I'll try later. But the cable works on MY ipod4, and the ipod3 I'm fixing. Also the one that isnt working seems a bit more beat up than the other, and had a different owner. I'm sure it's broken somehow. Silly teenage girls.
Umbrella.
