24mbit sync, fastpath on. Edit: Oh and for the people talking about bandwidth caps and stuff, yeah, Be don't have those. I regularly download at LEAST a terrabyte a month and Be have no issues with this. Nor do they have any issue with the many servers I run off of my connection (though they're mostly for internal use, they can be accessed remotely and I occasionally do), infact, they've even assisted me with things like Reverse DNS as I said.
I'm with BT, I pay for 8mbps and get 8mbps. I also get incredibly low pings and my connection has literally never dropped. It all depends on where you live.
Sky!
Cheap ISP = Tiscalli Fast ISP = BE Shit ISP = BT Buggy/Expensive ISP = Virgin Media [editline]05:23PM[/editline]
Sky!
Sky are just BT broadband under a different company.... [editline]05:26PM[/editline] Bear in mind this is the best package from virgin, and im using a shitty wireless 56 meg connection, its probably about 13 megs on Ethenet.
This is a good example of Be/O2's service. 20mb plan, about a quarter of a nautical mile from the exchange. This is why you should go with tiscali: That look's fine, what are you compl- HOLY SHIT IT'S HORRIBLE GET IT AWAY FROM MY EYES

Prepare to vomit at Tiscuntlis speed, we got a 1mbps package in 06 and haven't been upgraded at all, IIRC we are paying £14.99 for a pile of steaming wank. :barf: The average speed for AFRICA is better than this. And the ping: :emo:

I'm on 50mb/s Virgin(upgraded today), on my 20mb/s package which i have had since 03/04 I consistently got 15-20mb/s.
I'm on Virgin Media's 10MB package, (It's actually 1250Kbps download speed but hey, I got upgraded from 2MB package for free), Been a member of Blueyonder for years and when Virgin Media bought them out my quality of internet got better, good shit.
UK sounds pretty shit in regards to ISPs according to this thread...
Overall the UK has terrible broadband, the major players just REFUSE to upgrade the archaic infrastructure and the uptake of FTTH based systems is slow (Saying that, virgin is upping it's fibre use with the 50Mb package) Stupid old copper telephone network is just not able to sustain the future of boroadband, it needs upgrading.
My internet just cut out for 20 minutes just now, and for about 30 minutes an hour ago. >:(
Ignore that, i've got a 5mb line
I'm currently on Talktalk's phone/broadband package, it's something like £24~ a month, including line rendal, phone calls and broadband, I get about 7 meg download and 0.8 meg upload (Fast enough to stream a high quality 640x480 video with stereo sound to an american server (Justin.tv). ), free evening and weekend calls and the broadband is actually free. Although the router they give you is shite, and not wireless, so you're wanna supply your own router. But that's a no-brainer, right? I had Sky at one point, they capped me down to 0.8mb/s even though we were paying for 10, we called support and claimed that they would 'boost the connection' to get it to it's max speed. We got it back to full speed eventually but, What the hell?
Stay away from BT 1.5mb/s, paying for 8mb/s
My dad is a stubborn asshole, and that pretty much happens to us with AOL. He won't switch because he's worried of losing his AOL e-mail address. No brainer. I've been a Tiscali, a BT, a BeThere and am presently a Virgin Media customer. I'd go with BeThere every time. Good and quick (and free) customer support, and excellent upload speeds as well as download. You also get e-mail notification of work, or outages.

A gigabit ethernet connection can indeed transfer at 116 megabytes, while that net connection runs at 96 megabits (12 megabytes) per second.

I don't have any restrictions but I'm subject to a fair use policy, I'm fairly sure a server would not be acceptable by it.
Give it a go :smug:
