I am wondering can a XFX - ATI Radeon HD 4890 1GB DDR5 PCI Express 2.0 Graphics Card be used for games i am confused about the XFX part
XFX is the company that makes the graphics card. [editline]11:54PM[/editline] You can use it as long as your motherboard has a pci-e slot.
ok thanks can mod lock the thread and is it a good card like say running fallout 3 on high or ultra
Yes, it will destroy Fallout 3 on any setting. [editline]06:07PM[/editline] As long as your processor is at least somewhat new.
My PC has 4 year old Processer and it is a Dell Optiplex GX620 with 1 PCI E slot is that good enough
uhmm. 4 year old? i doubt it. the 4890 will get bottle necked like mad. I think the best idea would be to get a whole new pc or salvage what you can.
what do you know
My PC has 4 year old Processer and it is a Dell Optiplex GX620 with 1 PCI E slot is that good enough
which of these is it, searching the model doesn't come up with a specific one
i think the processor is a Intel P4? 3ghz? 1gb ram?
The Intel P4 3 GHz Is actually great... I have the mini version of it.. I packed in 2GB Of RAM, 1TB Space and I set it up as a File Server and my other one as DHCP / Server Host. Packs a good punch for those services, not that good for gaming though.
he asked is it good for gaming with. with a P4 no I wouldn't of though so especially with a 4890 as I suggested earlier I think that a whole new build or to scrounge what he can from that would be the best solution for games. Edited: If he is going to use it with the P4 of course, if not then the 4890 is a pretty beast card for the money Edited: It's pretty hard to find the GX620 on the internet but from what I have seen that is that model that you have.
Well what graphics card from 2007.2008,or 2009 would work
Ok very bad idea, the Pentium 4 will drag that 4890 down a LOT. OP, you're better off upgrading your whole computer, or getting a 4670 and saving up. I also doubt the PSU in that Dell would run a 4890, which is why I suggest a 4670 (no PCI-E power connector). Even then, I reckon a 4670 would still be bottlenecked by that Pentium 4. Running a 4890 would be just a plain bad idea; your PSU will probably die, and it could take out the rest of your rig with it. Save up some cash. Ask the forums on how to build a computer, and we will tell you the best way to build a computer with your budget; you will save plenty of $$ doing it this way!
SO upgrade my PC then get a new card easy my dad works for dell as an Tech man so no prob any card you can suggest
The only thing he could salvage from his current rig.. Is probably the optical drive if he has the med tower version and the hard drive. I do suggest building a new rig overall... your current one will not game. You could keep it for a DHCP / Fileshare server though xD Ya... My dads hospital works with Dell for there servers and computers. They just retired one of there servers and got all new switches. I get to keep the server and a switch fortunatly... Plus I get some of there PC's that are coming off lease for 50$ A Peice. Will add to my network... :) I do alot of Development Testing for Coding and such on so... Servers. Love having em xD And Dell Desktops make fairly good hosts for small test servers.
RG4ORDR: You'd be much better off building your PC yourself; buying the parts of Newegg (or whatever retailer you prefer), assembling it, and installing the OS yourself. You will save a lot of cash compared to getting it through Dell, and even if you did get a Dell you'd still need to put a better power supply in it; the OEM PSUs cant handle shit... Facepunch can guide you through the processes, suggesting parts and telling you how to do it.
so get my dad to buy pc part of of newegg wait is this a good processor AMD - Black Edition Deneb Phenom™ II X4 Processor 965
The 965 is very good but IMO i'd get the 955 its a little cheaper and not much difference.
alright so get a 955 abd a ATI 4670 and that it
what? I think you are going to need to think this threw. Your mother board in your PC atm I doubt can take a 955 if the system is 4 years old, you will need a new mother board for the 955 and I would also skip the 4670 and get a 57XX if you can afford it. Edit: Plus the PSU as said earlier would probaly need to be changed for a new one so you rig doesn't get fried.
can you send me pictures and links of these
Where do you live?
He needs to know for what webpage to use... just incase you think he's trying to stalk you xD
yeah aha, I see what I did. What country do you live in sir?
Well my dad says new pc would be better so fuck
Yeah it would be a lot better lol. Which is what I was trying to get to.
which of these is it, searching the model doesn't come up with a specific one
This pc is mine well any suggestion on a PC
I wouldn't really buy a PC TBH, you can build one for a lot cheaper and be better to. It's real simples and if you get stuck im sure posting on FP you will get help instantly.
My dad says cheaper and fast to buy one
http://www.facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=599194 not difficult in any way [editline]02:13AM[/editline]
My dad says cheaper and fast to buy one
wrong, prebuilts charge you out the ass for "labour" and cut corners wherever they can, by building it yourself you can get more for your money and make sure there isn't a cheap shitty power supply risking the whole thing and as for "fast" it takes half an hour to maybe an hour and a half to build one, definitely not worth a couple hundred (currency)
