Millions. It's funny really.
Ha ha, my instructor in my computer class uses a really old machine that has a quantum fireball in it. We all had a good laugh about how ridiculous the name of it sounded.
Sadly it didn't make the tortuous process of watching him install a really ancient version of RedHat go by any faster.
Wait...why was he shopping at Best Buy?
Hmm.
How do you know he didn't switch the hard drive?
You guys are too blaming of corporations.
It doesn't matter if he did or not. Customer service should always be #1 and I think Best Buy would suffer less just by refunding the man rather than causing a big commotion and giving themselves a negative image.
So that's what a quantum fireball is! Our old Windows 95 machine had one
I'd love to know how one of those got in a VelociRaptor box...
Best Buy can be shitty, but I got a laptop for a real good price.
I've never had a problem with Best Buy.

How did they mix those up in the factory?

Best buy = best if everything goes without a hitch.
Best Buy = Shit if something fucks up. They're all like :hehe: this money is ours

Sorry for the size, made to prove a point.
Any who, quite comical if I do say so.
Best buy is equal to or less than shit.
If I were that guy I would get the whole government involved.
Good morning old thread of mine.
So what was the outcome in the very end?
I remember this thread.
I do to.
What happened? Did he sue? Did he win?
I remember this. Good times.
I hope Best Buy aren't as bad as this when they come to the UK.

:downs:
Nice bump.
I  my VelociRaptor. I can't believe I paid $300 for it though...oh well.
I remember reading about this on The Consumerist.
Isnt it customers right to get your product changed if its in its original packaging.
Atleast it is where i live, + stores need to take defect stuff back.
It's interesting that everyone is siding with this guy about the return, but if you see it from Best Buy's point of view it is quite clear why they would refuse the return...
The last time they accepted that return a customer lied to them. The guy who ended up with the Fireball has no proof that he didn't just find the proper drive in there and then claim he was given the fireball.
Two things should have happened.
1)Bestbuy should have checked the returned item to verify that it was the correct one, not just that there was a hard drive in there.
2)The customer should have checked inside the box first before leaving the store.
I agree, however, that BestBuy is overpriced, has a poor selection of the stuff I buy, and that I never shop there anyway.
That sucks! But I guess look at it from their view, how do they know the guy isn't just pulling their leg to get a free drive?

Yeah I was looking at your old threads and I found this one... had to bring it back from the grave. (by the way to everyone who rated me late, I know, it was on purpose)

What were the results? Did he win? Lose? Fail?
There is. Standard false advertising. He could win a suit for millions if he were to go to a higher court and sue. False advertising, refusal to refund, etc.
He would win money for a large sum of $225 dollars, and probably whatever for best buy to cover the legal charges.
Well he is going to lose.
And it is WD's fault not Best Buy...

Yeah, it's WD's fault...they clearly accidentally put a ancient hard drive from a different manufacturer in one of their premium product boxes to try and make a quick buck.
Personally i like best buy, but when they do shit like this..it pisses me off.
When ever you go to best buy to buy anything at all you can't plainly see, ask to open it in store, so if the put a brick in your laptop box, you can get an instant refund.
