Someone left a box full of hard drives on his doorstep with a note threatening to come back and murder him if he didn't use them.
A joke is one thing, but doing this to somebody, especially to some random dude on the internet, is something completely different. Whoever did that really overstepped the line, especially with that threat.
So Windows updated, and it was about a 10 second update.
When my PC went to boot, INACESSIBLE_BOOT_DEVICE and there wasn't a god damn shit thing I could do to fix it other than reformat.
The Startup Recovery tool would have been really helpful except Mouse and Keyboard don't work when it starts, nor did PS/2 mice/keyboards
Fuck you Microsoft

Did he ever report that to the police?
I remember seeing that post but not much after it.
I guess this "solid state" storage isn't so solid after all...

I had the exact same thing happen on one of my PC's.
The startup recovery tool did work for me, but as per usual it could do naff all to fix anything.

Sandisks seem to be notorious for doing this shit
If it's like mine, the plastic will just keep slowly chipping away until you're digging pieces out of your camera, then it starts jamming in the slot, then eventually the write lock slider falls out and it's unusable
I'm pretty sure the knockoff one I have is made of stronger plastic

Fuck man cover that before all your bits leak out
I got a curved monitor, and this shit is going to take some getting used to.
Everything is so wibbly looking.
Thinkpad update: All USB ports work again, only the smashed one remains broken.
I'm fine with this.
Ryzen is heavily impacted by RAM speed. Intel it doesn't matter so much.
Something something infinity fabric.
The Infinity Fabric which is how each four core CCX talks to each other runs at half ram speed. So faster the ram the higher the bandwidth and lower the latency of the communication between the each set of cores. And some games and software benefits more. OW is notorious for loving faster memory. Like shockingly so. Might do a benchmark but From 2666 to 2933 Is like 20-30%.

I personally love my curved Samsung monitor. It's a slight curve but it truly looks gorgeous.
I tend to move around a lot when computing so I don't think a curved monitor is for me.
Hot damn how bad it is to be using a monitor at the wrong height. I have been using my laptop for 3 weeks over here and I just can't find a comfortable way to use it. Sitting upright on the chair, looking forwards, it is about 40cm from the desk.
the laptop ends at around 25cm...
I don't have another 15-20cm of shit to put under it god damnit. Horrible, can't see how people ever could even think of having a screen at a wrong height, it just hurts my neck and eyes and ass form sitting in a weird positsion so I would have the screen at eye level.

fuck it, this works for now and makes my computer usable.

Dig out your old college textbooks for a stand?
My current monitor stand is a CLR via C# book and a Level Design book for UE3. :v:
So work will be getting me new thinkpad for software development as long as it isn't too ridiculously expensive
I'm kinda out of the loop, any suggestions for that use case?

Don't really care about touchscreen or convertible stuffs if that's even a thing with newer thinkpads

Mate of mine uses a old fat PS2 for monitor stand, its optical drive scratches disks so it's the only good use for it.

The copper has gone to shit around here lately, there's like 4 channels that are basically unusable that I regularly get bonded to.

I got a Dell 34 inch Ultrasharp Ultra wide and it's really neat for video editing. However, I have no other space for my older monitors on my desk besides having it right above and it's not the best setup. I need a bigger desk and the monitors to sit further away from me as I end up getting some neck strain from looking up so much.

T430 with either an i5 or i7, at least 8GB RAM, and an SSD. Nvidia dedicated GPU is a plus. If you need something newer, get a Dell Latitude.
Thought of maybe getting a 1080ti, friend from my old job wants to buy my 980Ti. But damn 1080 Ti's are fucking pricey if you actually want to find one in stock.
Sure ADSL 2+ was slow as fuck but at least it consistently worked in some capacity.
172.217.25.46 の ping 統計:
packets: sent = 100、rec = 59、lost = 41 (41% lost)、
round trip time :
min = 24ms、max = 2949ms、avg = 740ms
Randomly chooses whether it goes at 25 or somewhere between 1000 and 3000ms. Fuck cable.

Are the 470s shit?
[editline]22nd September 2017[/editline]
I mean these t430s go for 600€ and that's less than what the hp pavilion x360 costs from which they want me to upgrade away

Just started uni/college and we don't have any required books. Don't have any leftovers from high school either, we just lent them from the schools library for the whole year. Probs gonna buy a new IPS screen and either bring it to my new apartment or take an old one from my setup at home that stands a bit higher.

Thanks to modern Lenovo being shit there's really not much reason to get a modern Thinkpad since Dell does the same thing but better with the Latitude line these days. The Latitude 5580 seems pretty nice, for example.

Which one
Thinking MSI due to larger cooler, larger fans. Though Evga is Evga, and their service is legendary.

I remember my internet being like that for years. After lots and lots of trouble shooting it was finally determined that one of the lines within the walls of the house is fucked up, somewhere. Even though the internet wasn't hooked up to that line, a TV was, and that killed the connection deader than dicks. Modem would reboot 20 times a day, the speed would be 100 down/30 up but if you downloaded anything the ping to any place would shoot up to 700ms+ and the internet would be useless, as if there was ZERO overhead, but that's when it worked at its best. Usually the speeds dropped to something like 1 down and 0.5 up with 50% or more packet loss
