Generally I find any media devices need to be reselected on each update.
TeamSpeak will tell me that the output and capture device I use no longer exist.
Well they do, but I assume their UUID have been reset. Just like sometimes when you change their usb port.
This also affects webcams numbers shit. So I assume you're seeing these problems with capture cards.
Generally just selecting the device again in the list fixes the problem

It's been over two years, are the growing pains just going to be eternal from now on?
It has so many improvements but manages to do so much stupid shit at the same time.
Windows 10 is the best version so far in my opinion. It does so many things right. But it's also Microsoft so half of it will be abandoned in a year.
Honestly I've never run into anything in Win10 that annoys me more than anything did in Win7/8. Granted I'm not in the IT field and I don't do too much on the software side of things but for my uses it's never given me any major headaches.
Probably the only thing that was annoying was sometimes windows explorer would open a new window when you navigated to a new folder for no reason. Then that just fixed itself one day. A lot more things I'm sure have annoyed me but it should say something that I can't recall any of them off the top of my head.

My biggest complaint about Win10 is that it tends to hide actual useful progress in favor of ui simplicity
No, office, 9 hours is not "ready in a few minutes", a frowny face with a qr code isn't an acceptable error message, and it is not ok to just display "Please don't shut down the PC" and nothing else while updates install for 30 minutes

They still display the error message on the blue screen, let alone if you let the computer restart by itself, you're still given a proper minidump for debugging.
As a power user, you can see how simplifiying the screen is backwards, but for others that are less than capable, it offers a better chance at fixing the situation.
No more having to copy down a URL from a screen, it's still there last I checked, shortened, but anyone can still easily navigate there with their mobile camera.

I'm having issues with a very laggy VNC on one of my PCs since the creators update. It is a piss weak i5 650, but even so it didn't happen before the update.

and also a better chance at giving them the confidence to screw up their windows install via startup repair or refreshes because every option assures that things will be fine.
Or just to see the error and restart the PC as the first sentence directs them to, losing the error message, instead of scaring them into calling IT and leaving everything as is.

VNC is made for UNIX systems and tends not to play very nicely with Windows (as the host) I've found. You're better off sticking with RDP; you can connect to an RDP host from pretty much every major platform.
