It's full windows? daaaamn
Ugh, I have to transfer 120gb off a computer that doesn't have USB 3.0 and is on a 10/100 switch. I hate life.

Does it also work as a phone?

If so, since when did an Atom become a supercomputer? Also meme86 Samza, I'm disappointed in you

[QUOTE=SEKCobra;52801875]Add an extension card or gigabit switch?[/QUOTE] I mean I'm here now and need to do it.
LOL I force updated to FCU and atikmdag.sys shits the bed with drivers from windows update (for A8-9600 Radeon R7 APU). Had to download the unsigned beta driver to get it working again without SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION BSOD. Also, fuck microsoft for fucking up the F8 menu, windows rebooted itself from BSOD at least 12-15 times to get to safe mode and once for allowing unsigned drivers. Had to pull the internet so it doesn't install vanilla drivers while I try to install beta ones.
I'm pissed off now. I'm using an Asus RT-N66U as a media bridge in my house. I want to update it to fix the krack shenanigans. I wanted to go to DD-WRT, because they are up-to-date. [t]https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/115879850392158210/371017284405297152/Screenshot_20171020-152021.png[/t] It won't let me install DD-WRT or install older versions of official firmware. If Asus doesn't release a firmware update, I just won't get to have the fix. DRM on routers, love it.

DRM on routers, love it.[/QUOTE] It isn't DRM, its to prevent end users from bricking their router by installing wrong/malicious software. Just about every router does that. :v: ASUS actually does allow you to flash 3rd party software, its just not obvious. You have to start the router by going into bootloader recovery mode (I think you just hold reset on boot until the power light slowly flashes). Then go to 192.168.1.1 in your browser to a very basic firmware upload page (you might need to configure a static IP). That will bypass most of the "idiot proofing" checks and will let you install Merlin or DD-WRT (make sure you read the installation notes). Run the upload, and let it sit for like 30-40 minutes. There is no confirmation that it flashes correctly. Just keep an eye on it in case it starts boot looping. I did it before, just boot back into bootloader mode and try again. As an FYI, DD-WRT does not support hardware acceleration on the N66U, so keep that in mind if you have a fairly high speed internet connection.
Apparently it's also FCC regulation, which makes sense I guess. [editline]20th October 2017[/editline] My internet speed is pretty good, though, so I guess I should go for Merlin?

The last update was on the 4th which patched DNSMasq to 2.78. However I forgot that you don't use the N66U as your router. So hardware acceleration would not matter as its all done through the internal switch for the bridge. So you might as well go for DD-WRT. Either one is going to be better than the stock ASUS firmware in terms of update frequency and features.

So I redid the cable management on my desk, and in order to get everything Just Right, I needed to buy, among other things, a two meter full-size DisplayPort and three meter Mini-DP cables. It's like $10 each on Amazon but I'd be fine paying a bit more to get it right the hell now. First stop is Wal-Mart, because there's one right there on my drive home from work. The guy there has never heard of DisplayPort. Second stop is Target. The guy there knows what it is, then apologizes because they don't carry them. Third stop is Best Buy. The guy there manages to find one... only the six-foot one, and for twice the price and more, in the Mac section. Amazon it is, then.
Can confirm Wal-Mart employees haven't heard of display port

I could not convince the dude that displayport wasn't just for adapters. [editline]20th October 2017[/editline] Though to be fair this was like 5 years ago and displayport monitors were not as common as they are now in consumer products.
I can get displayport cables by the dozens where I work.
I have all my new client systems on displayport only and it's nice [editline]20th October 2017[/editline] Biggest thing was getting my client with all surface pros to buy new Dell monitors so I could stop fucking with mDP to VGA and the scaling issues of using a surface with 1280x1024 monitors
I have to use HDMI at work because the motherboard only has two DP outputs.

I wasted enough time going to stores that might not have stock, or what I wanted anyways.

The only cable they did have was a regular DisplayPort cable. Of course the natural solution was to go to OfficeMax. Where they actually had real DisplayPort adapters. Inflated price ($25), but whatever I wasn't paying for them. :v: Unless someone is more familiar with where to buy computer parts in the Wichita, KS area, OfficeMax is now the go to for short term notice adapters.
There's this little computer repair place about 5 minutes away that's also a really small store but somehow manages to have exactly what I need every time (except for actual computer parts). Compare that Best Buy which somehow manages to not have what I need 80-90% of the time despite having 500x more sq. footage of retail space. It's like these big ass-franchise stores are out-competing each other on how to waste space and customer time.

You've done it now
[QUOTE=ballads;52804579]Post all speed tests[/QUOTE] This is just a specific issue I've been dealing with for a few days, but mildly for a few months now. Have a tech coming out tomorrow to look at our node. Hope he doesn't need to come inside because my modem is in a tight space and the coax jack is behind some furniture.
