IPS has gotten really close with properly calibrated overdrive. My 165hz IPS Xb271HU and it's crazy good.
I mean sometimes it just comes down to budget and in my use case the S2716DG at the price I paid is good enough, and the extra $200-300 I'd have to pay for an equivalent IPS screen is better applied elsewhere.

I'm not hatin'. Just remarking how the gap has closed a bit more in the last few years.
We've had this discussion before, and it always comes down to some people prefer real estate, some framerate, some image quality, and they purchase the screen that meets their specific tastes within their budget.
I do love spam email sometimes

There's just one small issue that destroys any semblance of it being believable (Not that it had any to begin with...)

Same boat here
My 271HU is amazing, apart from the not so homogeneous screen. They all have these QC issues though.

I get first-class spam consistently.

I went for framerate and image quality and ended up getting one of these which I'm a big fan of besides the slight issue of smearing with grey-on-grey (which is largely circumvented by using strobing so whatever) and some freesync niggles (which tbh I mostly blame on freesync's implementation)
I probably will upgrade to a higher res monitor at some point but goddamn I can't give up HFR displays now, and I love the contrast ratio of this thing.

Agreed, it has some issues with pixel overdrive causing color artifacts, but otherwise is one of the best monitors on the market right now for high refresh rate and good image reproduction.
Yeah my steam folder went from 96GB to 94GB. I think it either varies heavily by what you have in the folders, or we're doing something wrong.
It's not gonna do anything for data that's already (storage-)efficiently compressed. A lot of game data formats prioritise low CPU usage and seek times, but not all.
I only care about IPS panels if I'm doing something that needs better 1:1 colour ratios.
Other than that I couldn't give a fuck, TN supports better refresh and response rates anyway.
Don't forget viewing angles. TN is downright unusable in some multi-monitor setups.
Most people haven't tried a quality IPS and/or are partially blind then.
The difference is insane, I can't see how people can stand TN panels.
You haven't seen quality TN panels then. MacBook Air displays look pretty good.

Lol yep, i had to do a double take when i dug up that screenshot

This is using the fastest compression, too.
Question, however: when I put NEW stuff in this folder, will it be automatically compressed, or do I have to run through the folder with this tool again?
Haaaaa you guys just get normal spam mail? Mine all have weird story scripts that are all related to each other in the message bodies.

My spam folder these days is just full of IFTTT because their unsubscribe button doesn't work and they send me an email every 6 hours.

Won't be compressed, IIRC you can set a flag with the command line tool but it only uses the fastest setting
compact /C /S /EXE XPRESS16K *.*
You can just run that from a command prompt or in a batch file, and it will run through all the new uncompressed files (and the files that did not compress well, like .mp3 files) and just compress the stuff that needs it.

If you run compact /c /s on the folder in powershell it should flag it to use Xpress4k for folder compression for new files. It will use the normal "NTFS compression" icon with the blue arrows, but supposedly is using Compact's compressor.
my favorite spam email to date was just a random email from a spam address that wasn't anything malicious or blatantly spam
it was just an excerpt from Robin Hood with some weird formatting.

I mean, I literally spent 4 hours trying out 30+ monitors less than a month ago when I bought a new one, including some of the more expensive TN gaming panels.
