I don't think I had any issues when I built my computer back in....was it july?
I also built my desktop back in July and the only real issues I ran into was putting the D15 cooler on properly and installing things in the case properly. Aside from that, everything was like a really expensive lego set.
Comcast yet to confirm a "Tap Maintenance" at my place, so my connection drops out... a good... 8 hours of the day. So i'm literally tethered to my phone while I do my job all day. We have skype calls thursday morning for 90minutes for our support meeting. I hope I have a solid signal then.
Tmobile please. You're my only hope.

Comcast better give you decent compensation or something for their bullshit

It's residential so they don't need to care much. But they missed an appointment so we got a 20dollar credit on our bill :v:
But as I'll be moving out in maybe 6 months I'm heavily looking for Fiber locations since proper coax/cable in an apartment complex is so difficult to make sure it's fixed. Since no one really gives a shit. Alteast with a house I can rewire shit. Some nice apartments now that I can afford it proper. Though in my area I'm looking at 1200-1300$ per month. Of course I'd prefer to live on my own, have a bedroom and a office... separate for the first time in my life.
$1200 a month? That's it?
That's how much my mortgage is, including taxes and insurance.
Went to my local PC shop, asked for a USB Ethernet adapter, the guy gave me a funny look and after searching for 15 minutes found one for 50$. Never going back there again

For a 2 bedroom even it sounds like, crazy shit
I posted about asking what laptop I should get but that's been a while back, but I forgot to reply and I forgot to provide my budget.
I'm looking for something under £700 (worst case) or £500 (best case), something like a Lenovo Thinkpad or an ASUS.
I want it for running Linux, too, so a thinkpad of one form or another would be good, but I won't limit myself to that if need be.
I don't care about the GPU, an i5 CPU should be good enough, RAM above 4GB, SSD/HDD at 500GB or more.
Any suggestions?
Thinkpad T430 if you want a mid sized laptop, X230 if you want a small laptop.
Anyone has experience with X230T? Is the tablet experience with Linux smooth by 2017 standards?

That's like 300squarefeet lul
But still I don't know whats normal. But that's the minimum I think I can go for and get a nice place. I've had conversations with my parents with some places I've looked at and they were gasping at 1400 for some places. But some of them seem nice, so it's worth it. But still debating on going straight to a house.
I can afford it if things are steady with Elgato.

Yeah it's how I had to set up my monitors so that they're positioned relative to eachother.

Yeah, it's fine. It's not great as a media consumption tablet though. The screen is low res and mediocre, and it only has two point touch.

How good is it for reading textbooks?

It's a 1366x768 panel so unless you have a huge font size it's not the best.

I hate those things as the displayed size in the graphic is based on Resolution not actual real world screen size
It basically makes so you can never get it perfectly right if you don't have the same screens

Would be nice to basically type in the physical size too. Would help with scaling too.

300sqft? Gross. My apartment is like 1000sqft but I pay almost $1500 a month

Naw not actually 300, but Getting near 1000 is nearing also 2k per month unless I move an hour away maybe. Which isn't a terrible idea since... I work remote.
You have a roommate? or foot the 1500 for yourself? I planned on having the place to myself and paying it all myself. I've needed my own *OWN* place for a long time. And I feel the cost is worth it.

Wait, where do you live? This sounds more expensive than the really nice newly built apartment near me very close to the center of Stockholm.
I pay about $418 for a 400sqft apartment here, really small and -1 floor but still.
I split the apartment with my brother, still sucks though. I'd love somewhere cheaper but I can't even afford to move.
I used to pay $1200/mo for 700ft^2 in the middle of downtown, plus covered parking. Literally same building as the Hilton. Richmond is pretty cheap by city standards.
Now I pay $400/mo for a quarter of a house (introvert roommates ftw - I can go days without noticing them, and they me). I downgraded because job changes left me partially-employed and unsure if my startup game dev business would make money. I still haven't finished a game but only because an ex-client brought me on to do some consulting at pretty high rates, so I've got the income I used to but like a third the expenses.

You've got startup game dev business? I can write killer code, can I join?

I don't even have an office yet, I'm in no place to hire anyone full-time (yet!). Hell, even I'm not full-time on it. But first priority would have to be artists, not coders. I'm learning UE4 as I go but I'm good enough at it to do something the engine's already designed for (Unreal-style twitch shooter), but I'm struggling to model even basic pickups.

I live in South Florida. So housing market has recovered a bit since the crash.
a big fucking mess coming right up

Now I split a 4 bedroom 1900sqft house with 3 roommates for $2500 in the suburbs but I was staying in my own place for $1255 a month, was really nice to live alone for a while. Can't afford to actually live in the city though yet, that's like $1500 minimum for a 600sqft-ish place. Maybe in a year.
You guys with your fancy apartments, I live in someone's spare bedroom :v:
