Are they generally really loud too?
The one Amazon shipped me by mistake is fairly loud in comparison to my Blacks.
I know Robbaz complained about them being louder than his golds
How big is the difference between 1080 and 1440? Been looking at upgrading but I'm not really sure if it would be worth increasing my resolution
How dumb am I?
I thought that it is really weird how my laptop with i3-4000m with a HD4600 runs CSGO worse than I expected.
turns out I was on battery saver. Turned on High performance and now it runs just fine.

I guess it depends on what you consider loud. I have four 8TB Red's right next to me and It's hard to tell if they're running.

Pretty great. Even going from 1200p 24" to 1440p 27" I have to increase my Facepunch zoom to like 175% to see it where I sit compared to 125% before.
Just not your GPU will feel the strain, too.
i used a 1440p monitor at my friend's work and the difference b/t my 1080p monitors and them was clear as day
i really want to replace my monitors now

it happens
its easy to notice on my laptop, since it has a dGPU and all
if it runs bad and too cool then it means i have battery saver on

I use 27" 1440p at home and 24" 1080p at work. It makes the 24's feel tiny.
This program had me worried about how user-friendly it would be, because of the installer.

The GUI was actually fine.

But the output was trash so I'm never using this again.

4K IPS 120Hz+ 32-inch monitor with 100% sRGB coverage, when?
Uhh, I have got a file error in CSGO twice on my desktop. I have a ST3000DM001 HDD, SMART data is fine but I have got a file error twice...
No worries otherwise, power on count is 1321, hours 11950.
Worst thing is that it kind of is my "main" drive. I have "backups" of things I might want on other HDD's and maybe on GDrive, but backing up 3TB of shit on a 750GB older used HDD is kind of hard.
As CSGO is the only thing I get errors on, I am probably going to install it on that and gonna hope that I don't get any more errors. SMART data is fine, other things are fine, I am gonna blame Steam.

Just keep monitoring it, maybe run a full read test on it
Mine died, BRT has had multiple of his die if I remember right, so I don't have the most rosy of outlooks when it comes to that drive :v:

EE design program designs piss me off
i was taking a vlsi design class and the main program we had to use looked like it was last updated in the 90s and was slow as hell to do anything. and we had to VNC into the computers running the machine making it extra slow. i dropped the fuck out of that class
I thought I was going insane but turns out monitor refresh rate was set to 29hz. Always check your monitor settings after messing with DxWnd and old games.

Don't just monitor it, backup all the data, then run a full surface read. Should uncover more bad sectors and properly update Smart.
Also yes I had now 10 of those drives die.

Pretty often the software being used in class, is being used because the teacher is familiar with it.
Have a teacher that switched from industry to education in the 90s? Congratulations, you're going to be running a 20+ year old version of everything.

'Eyy, another Simple user!
They're pretty great.
144hz is glorious!
I don't doubt it, but I prefer resolution over frame rate, as I'm not really a gamer and I favour IPS due to fact I'm a bit OCD when it comes to imperfections in monitor backlighting

What's the advantage of simple over a credit union?
What's the advantage of simple over a credit union?
disadvantages:
no easy cash deposit
advantages:
app that doesn't suck
support experience that doesn't suck

the chip's worked for like a year lol
Shot down my RX480 by some 60mv and this pos stopped whinning at me. It's such a peaceful bedroom now, I have no idea if I'm still using the same card.
My debit card is such a pain in the ass, the lettering is stamped, then painted with silver, which looks great and all until it starts rubbing/flaking off in your wallet
The plastic is translucent so the numbers just become impossible to read

Silver completely wore off on mine after about 8 months, card is opaque blue so it should still be fine for the remaining 3 years
How is a WD Gold, different from a WD black?

Ran a full read test overnight, found no problems.
next stop, maybe it is the cables?
How is a WD Gold, different from a WD black?
Golds are burn tested before leaving the factory, have a higher rated MTBF, double the spec'd duty cycle, and a lower read error rate, 5 year warranty.
The black drives also have the 5 year warranty, but none of the other things apply, on the 4TB model they're spec'd 1MB/s faster.
From WD itself Black drives are usually a good bit more expensive. I prefer to get the WD golds, since it's cheaper for better reliability. HGST also has good options.
[editline]28th October 2017[/editline]
There's also other specific firmware features that might be important to you, such as TLER (mostly a RAID reliability feature). Golds also boast some vibration resistance features, and variable head fly height, mostly for that reliability.
