Ready for the cheap GPUs to start rolling in :speedfap:
Is eth doubling?
Is eth doubling?
Opposite lol It's been crashing Edit: unless that's what you meant
Opposite lol It's been crashing Edit: unless that's what you meant
I mean the difficulty, IIRC when it doubles next it's going to make mining on 4gb cards untenable, and that was supposed to be soon.
Prices of GPUs going down is good, I don't want to spend $100 more on a 1070 due to inflation, then see the price go back to normal in a month when those currencies crash.
And some companies released "MINING EDITION" cards :v:
Has anyone here repurposed their old android phone into something useful? I am trying to figure out if I can give my OPO new life as some sort of dedicated device.
I have an S2 for a GPS and sometimes use it as a webcam to see if coffee is done.

[editline]17th July 2017[/editline]
That motherboard has fucking awful memory support. Either get a motherboard that doesn't suck or don't bother with high speed RAM. This is the list of memory they have tested on it, you'll notice there's nothing that's 32 GB and high speed. There's a reason it's so cheap. This motherboard + memory should work at 2933 which is about as fast as you're getting out of 32 GB on Ryzen currently. Intel is less picky with XMP but it was the same when it was new. I can almost guarantee you won't notice any difference at all between a 960 evo and pro, save yourself a hundred bucks. My 960 evo still gets 3 GB/s read and 1.8 GB/s write.
OK so I switched the mobo and RAM. Also switched the PSU and CPU cooler to the D15. Also picked a GPU, the cheapest 1080 Ti that Part Picker found. Gonna still keep the 960 Pro but going for a 512GB instead of the 1TB.
Also, I feel like I must be doing something wrong, but this 20+12 MP Dual camera on the Honor 9 produces really fuzzy/bad pictures, while my OPO produced way nicer pictures. :(
At which point deep fried GPU will be the hot new commodity on eBay.
The trend with Eth mining was downclocking the card as much as possible, since eth is more memory intensive than it is gpu compute intensive. Most of the used eth mining cards (esp the overbuilt rx 480s) will likely be in pretty remarkable shape TBH.
I was missing code lens at home until I read the Visual Studio licensing and realised it doesn't have an activation limit and specifically mentions you can install it at home so that's nice. Although the git integration does make me a bit disappointed that we use svn at work - authors, modification dates, commit lists per function is so fucking convenient even if I am the only one in my personal repositories.

Turns out it's Sony's stock camera app being "optimized" for shitty resolution social media photos and not photographer porn.
Smartphone makers are not afraid of applying shitloads of noise reduction to photos...
I just want a good budget phone with good camera and raw camera controls. [editline]17th July 2017[/editline] I have seen so many facebook photos where people like oil painting due to too much noise reduction, I can't really believe that smartphone would ever catch up to a good camera with at least micro4/3 sensor. [editline]17th July 2017[/editline] This lensless camera research however could be a dealbreaker
Smartphone makers are not afraid of applying shitloads of noise reduction to photos...
Dumbing the camera down due to people being idiots at taking photos.
It's just weird, I tried 'OpenCamera', didn't really change much. The OPO did way better at photos :/
Daily reminder that gman003-main probably still uses his Motorola as a fucking alarm clock.
Indeed I do. And the uptime is ridiculous. By Android 2.x standards, at least, I know it doesn't touch any server OS uptimes. [t]http://i.imgur.com/CKapIYT.jpg[/t] 27,640 hours since last reboot. That's three years and change. I might be setting some kind of record for Android 2.2. Hell, I even found an actual alarm clock in all my junk when I moved recently, and I'm still using this thing because it's objectively better. It's tiny, can do basically infinite alarms instead of just one, can do them by day-of-week, and has a built-in battery backup so I don't have to worry about being late for work because of a power outage.
Jesus just shoot me I cannot stand contracted IT helpdesk. Boss' hard drive died so his machine literally won't boot. Just says "no bootable device" So we do the responsible thing and call the helpdesk and explain that the hard drive has failed and it will not boot. "Are you at a windows login screen?" 'No, it won't boot. The hard drive doesn't respond and it just says no bootable device' "Okay, can you please turn the machine off and then back on?" 'I've done that already but fine.' "did this resolve the issue?" 'No. It won't boot. Still.' "Please hold I am going to remotely log-in to your machine, please leave it on" -hold music- "Okay sir it looks like your machine isn't on the network, I'm going to have to escalate this to the level above us. I'm not sure why your machine won't work. We'll send you an email summary for your records" 'I can't access my email, its on my work machine'
Arent scripted helpdesks a wonderful thing? Cancer, utter cancer.
Just remember that those questions exist because there are still people out there who can't do the most basic tasks with a computer.
Sometimes support just has to follow protocols I then there's my friends at my old university doing support They'll set me up with a password that breaches the regular rule set, generally just reusing old passwords, you have to change them every six months
Serves your company right for going with the cheapest bidder, imho.
Rack from Newegg is here. And amazon just let me know they got my return, and are sending another one as a replacement. I already chatted with them and told them I don't want it. fak.
Serves your company right for going with the cheapest bidder, imho.
Here's the skeleton in the closet about helpdesk here though. they didn't used to be contracted. BV used to have their own helpdesk department in the Kansas headquarters office. For reasons unknown, they separated the entire helpdesk department into its own company, which was then contracted by BV, and now we're all stuck with this crap.

Seriously, incorporating them probably allowed for lower base pay, easier separation and many more "advantages" to the employer.
Ok let's try this a second time.
