my company announced their new 4K60 capture card. I hope to get mine soon to play with. Can hook it up to my GH5 for a 4k60 webcam :O
Does anything else even support more than 720p or 1080p for video calling yet?
Well when I say webcam I just mean basically the card now works as a directshow device so it could feed that to something. But no, really it's just OBS or something.

That's still neat because now you don't really need an external video recorder to record the camera feeds when you can now do it on a computer and not have to offload footage from one drive to another later. However it's probably not geared towards professionals and plenty other 4K60 capture cards for PC exists already.

When are they making a 144hz capture card/box that supports G/Freesync?
Just got my Steam Link and it was definitely worth the 10 bucks, pretty cool to get to play chillout games on a big screen. It also ties nicely into Steam Big Screen so everything works great. I even tried Luftrausers and it's still playable with the latency over wireless.
I'm starting to get really annoyed with using Mac os, the finder, the slightly different keyboard short cuts and what not compared to windows. The more I use Macs, the more I hate them..

When variable FPS becomes common place. Variable refresh on monitors is one thing because it's not stored. But "Gsync" or variable refresh capture cards is somewhat of a nightmare in terms of formats from a video standpoint.
But our new card can do 1080p at 240hz or 1440p at 144hz. It's pretty sweet. I had of course nothing to do with it.

Opposite was true for me tbh. It was a little annoying getting used to the differences but when i did learn them i loved then

i had to use a mac laptop today and it was a weird experience
ther's no right mouse button you have to tap twice on the touchpad like if your fingers were galloping

i like it better than an rmb on a trackpad. i can right click anywhere just by clicking with both fingers

Steam Link is so good it's better than direct HDMI in a lot of cases. I used to run an HDMI cable from my computer across my room to my TV but now I just use a Steam Link.
I no longer have to deal with resolution fuckery on my desktop, there's no cable running across my room, I can quickly and easily view multiple monitors via the Steam Link, and since my computer and Steam Link are plugged into the same Switch there's no noticeable latency.

If you're equating different to bad before you even give yourself a chance to get used to the new thing, you're just looking for reasons to hate it.
How is steam link able to stream games at 60fps over wifi but my RDP sucks shit when im physically sitting in the datacenter

it was pretty annoying tho because my teacher just told me to tap twice on the touchpad and all it did was zoom in, at first

My Chromebook was like that and it's an option on my Thinkpad. Not unusual.

I've always wondered this, I can watch a 1080p60 stream from the other side of the world just fine but RDPing into a fucking VM on the local machine I get 10fps

Must be something on your end, this shit looks smooth (though capped to 32 Hz because the connection quality isn't great). It does pull 3 mbps which is crazy for such a small area that's changing.
[t]https://www.helifreak.club/image/20171104022155555.png[/t]
Then it appears to go up to 60 FPS when connected to our app server (15-20 ms ping) and somehow bandwidth usage drops to 1-1.5 mbps there which is confusing.
[t]https://www.helifreak.club/image/20171104022709227.png[/t]
I can definitely see a difference between the 30 and 60 fps so it's absolutely pulling enough above 30 fps to be discernable.

First one is on my French server with a ping of 360 ms, must have forgotten to add that back in after a rewrite.
I'm keen for the 4k steam link
I have 3 bank cards right now.
One is my old student ISIC, meaning grades 1-12. I haven't deactivated it yet but it ends this year.
Second one is my new uni student ISIC. Got it this year, finally updated my picture on it. Both ISIC cards can be used to drive on a bus etc.
And now I got a third one, that is not ISIC, but is debit/credit and has contactless payment. Really nice, just like sweep it over a terminal and pay up to 25€.

Contactless goes up to $100 here but yeah it's really nice.
I wish contactless took off in the us so i can rub my wallet on the pay terminal instead of my phone
But it's less secure than Apple Pay.
At least Apple Pay requires your Touch ID to set it off. I get the convenience factor but it's not secure at all.
But you can have an audio jack and contactless payments this way.

Convenience is great with contactless. I don't worry too much about it though - if someone takes my bank card I can freeze it.

Skimming contactless doesn’t work because it’s protected by the same encryption chip and pin uses
Also I’d hope that all contactless terminals are monitored so it’d be easy to detect fraud
[editline]4th November 2017[/editline]
apple/android pay is nice because i don't have to take out my wallet but sometimes when i have to take out my wallet for id or rewards cards i end up just using the regular card

RFID =/= modern contactless. Very common misconception. Modern ones are encrypted and do not even use your card info, just a one time use security token.
Man the amount of consoles my house now has is insane. All together we have an nes, snes, n64, gc, wii, wiiu, 2 switches, ps2, 2 ps3s, xb360, xb1, and a large assortment of handhelds. We also have 3 50" TV's so we're trying to figure out how to divide it all up.

No PS4 though? What kind of casual are you?
I've been tempted but meh
I've been tempted but meh
Fuckin' same. I've been tempted to get a PS4 since the shit came out but I've never had a compelling enough reason to actually buy it.
I'm vaguely tempted to get a PS[3-4] just because my blu-ray drive broke and it was a pain in the ass to watch movies on PC anyways because of copy-protection bullshit.
Every console this generation..except maybe anything from nintendo?...has blu-ray now.
