Are there any Mini ITX cases out there designed to work with external power bricks? That would be fucking excellent.

Who the hell are you and how have I not met you already??
It's still fucking terrible, you need a chunky PSU unless you invest in an expensive DC-DC PSU, cable hell, failing components, even in simple boards
Desktop Computers could seriously learn from SBCs and even the new consoles that are based on the same arch, some motherboards have solved this problem of a legacy design by implementing some proprietary extensions, but there are no standards
As soon as Thunderbolt starts picking up on entry laptops I think 99% of use cases of a desktop will become obsolete
Down-converting mains AC voltage down to around 400 watts (guesstimate of a entry level computer with discrete GPU) "low" voltage DC while still maintaining safety, reliability and efficiency does result in a chunky single unit PSU, or a repeat of the huge brick the Xbox 360 had, and yet it still had a further smaller PSU inside.
That's just how it is with power conversion.
And lmao, thunderbolt is no replacement for expansion slots on a *ATX motherboards.
It's donglegate all over, except replacing PCI-e X1 and X4 slots with more shit rattling around instead of being integrated inside.

99% of expansion slots in computers around the world are used for the GPU and maybe a WiFi card and that's pretty much it. Integrated GPUs have gotten to the point where really only gamers and industry professionals need GPUs these days, and there are already plenty of external WiFi adapters that work very well, so I see what he's saying.
Not that *ATX motherboards should get rid of expansion slots, but that Mini-ITX probably doesn't really need em if it has Thunderbolt.
Not to mention eGPUs are starting to catch on with the mainstream.
Not just HEDT. Anything above and including mid-range. RGB LED motherboards are the new cancer and I hate them. I want an elegant, classy system with a nondescript colour-scheme not some Razer Fatal1ty Gaming Edition crap. I don't want my PC lighting up my room with rainbows, and nice motherboards with the featureset and whatnot that you want always have that trash. All the nondescript one always have some kind of thing holding them back. It's awful.
My motherboard came with this red gamer led glowing shit, I turned it off in the bios. My case doesn't even have a window for you to see any of the light anyways. Hell, I found the power on led and the hard drive busy led lights on the case annoying so I disconnected those connections.
My motherboard has internal power and HDD leds at the bottom left corner (with buttons) and I even find the light shining out of the PCI brackets to be annoying :v
I absolutely hate any light coming from electronics unless it is extremely dim

Working with Photoshop
How do I dynamically, in real-time, change color of a particular, for example, selection within a layer? What I want to get is something akin to developer tools in, say, Chrome. When you press on any element, which has a color style to it, you can press on it to open up the color palette. If you move your cursor around that palette, then the color changes accordingly, without any additional manipulations.

You clearly didn't search for any free editing programs now did you?
I'll name 3.
Avid (recently launched a free version)
Davinci Resolve (what I recommend)
Hitfilm

IIRC macOS does not yet have official Kaby Lake support and keep in mind macOS does not support the latest Nvidia GPUs.
I'd drop the Hackintosh idea and go for a Ryzen build if I were you. You could get a Ryzen 5 1400 with 4 cores/8 threads (compared to the i5s 4c/4t) for a little bit cheaper, or pay just a little bit extra for a Ryzen 5 1600 and get 6c/12t.
I wanna buy the Adobe CS6 Software Suite because it's the last version that doesn't require a subscription but is still totally usable in 2017 and will probably continue to be for another couple years at the least.
At my editing job, we work with a graphic designer who does our print work for our vinyls and DVD covers. He uses CS6 and it's a huge pain in the ass. We have to downconvert all of our work to send to him since he's on like a 6 year old version. Then when he sends us versions, half the time they don't work. He's cost the company so much money in wasted time because as a professional designer he said "he doesn't want to bother learning the new updates" The entire art team has demanded the company fire him.
Also I don't recommend CS6 if you've used modern CC versions before. Because CS6 is utter shit in comparison. it's one thing if you can't afford it or it's not available in your region. But I subscribed to CC in July 2015, and I just now surpassed how much I paid for my CS6 in like 2011.
I don't do any of that professionally tho, and haven't really used anything past CS6.

If your curious about this computer, it's a Thinkpad A21m with a 750 MHz PIII with 320mb of ram, to get online I'm using a SMCWUSB-N2 usb wireless adapter since it has support for windows 2000 and works with WPA2 encryption, and for the web browser I'm using k-meleon 1.6.0, it's an old web browser (2010) but it's the fastest browser I can find for this. The last version of Firefox that works on W2K, Firefox 12, is too slow for this machine, with some hacks I can get Firefox 52 ESR on here but that would be cheating and would be much slower than Firefox 12.
I have no idea if any you guys have interest in HAM/shortwave radio hobbies, but I guess this counts as computers. Maybe.

Currently the Arecibo Observatory in Puerto Rico is conducting an ionospheric heating research session. Think HAARP. (and no, I'm not talking about the conspiritard version of HAARP.)

The reception range is massive, and I in south west Ohio with a dinky handcrank shortwave radio can receive it in my noisy, half-Faraday cage house.
If there's anyone with capable equipment and an interest in radio, I suggest checking this out on your own equipment. It's one thing to hear it on a WebSDR, but a whole different kind of magic to hear it coming out of your own hardware. 5125 KHz USB mode, or whatever mode you feel is appropriate.
Edit: And of course soon after I post this, it's over. Oh well. Might start transmitting again at some point between now and the end of the month.

This build is far enough in advanced at the moment that Kaby Lake may be working at that time. But yeah, another Linux desktop with Ryzen is likely.

Uhm...I got home turned my computer on watched a video on Facebook and now my monitor is stuck with black bars on the side, like it's showing a smaller resolution, but it won't go full screen even when I set it to full 1080p. It also gets fuzzy when I set it to 144hz now. Is my monitor toast?
[editline]30th July 2017[/editline]
...huh sharex measures the screen as 1920x1080.
[editline]30th July 2017[/editline]
Rebooted and still have like 3 in black bars on each side. :(
[editline]30th July 2017[/editline]
Tried reinstalling my gpu drivers, nothing. Tried a different video cable, nothing. I really hope it's not my 1070.
[editline]30th July 2017[/editline]
Even get black side bars in bios :\
gotta be my monitor, right?
[editline]30th July 2017[/editline]
Just tried my Xbox on the monitor, also has black side bars so I guess I'm looking for a new monitor.

Why not buy a box cutter?
Olfa ones are amazing. I use an EH-1 with a hammer to cut off broken touchscreens.

There's got to be some form of modern linux that can run on that thing. My "current" laptop is an old G4 ibook and it runs Ubuntu Mate just fine.

5.125MHz is out of the range of my HF antenna's tunability but I'll bust out the active whip and give a listen on the 31st.
