Why do people not even check the previous page before posting?
Because in the time I spend checking, someone could post before me. But I apologise for trying to be informative. Thanks for making me feel bad. Moving on, should I max out my old Asus Z9PE-D8 to Dual E5-2697 v2 CPUs or throw that old stuff away and get a get an x399 board and Threadripper 1950X? Dual 2697 v2: 1950X
If someone did post it faster than you and it wasn't on the last page we all would have still been informed!
Presumably they're not Cherry MX Blues, but generic blues? [editline]2nd August 2017[/editline] Turns out, they are Outemu Blue switches. Nice deal.
Actually they are KRGD Blue switches. I was hoping they might be Gateron or Outemu but for $18 with free shipping. It's alright with me.
I just bought a snowball iCE to replace my dying Neewer. Oops.
It's so mediocre! We've got one and it's just somewhat decent. Even compared to the regular Snowball it's just so tinny.
I still prefer the Samson Go Mic at that price range
Lmao gg Intel. Fucking not having the "optimization" step be compatible with the others. And the next architecture historically won't be compatible either so you released a single chipset proc on purpose.
Yet another reason why I'm going AMD.
I remember buying my i5 3570k and a Z77 chipset motherboard thinking that maybe Intel won't update the chipset every year but oh well, got to live with it.
I remember buying my i5 3570k and a Z77 chipset motherboard thinking that maybe Intel won't update the chipset every year but oh well, got to live with it.
Same. I thought "3570k gonna last me quite a while and when this platform will become obsolete I'll just get the most powerful CPU for it for cheap". Well... 3570k ended up being the most powerful i5 on this platform and I don't see a reason to get 4770k because it costs almost as much as any modern cpu.
I love it when I buy a device and it has fucking usb type b on it. I have literally 1 of those cables around and it's lost. Just spent an hour looking for it. of course when I was setting up printers last year I found it almost immediately but when I put it somewhere I could find it on purpose it's just gone.
-sip- Never mind, american got there first.
But.. I'm Canadian. [editline]2nd August 2017[/editline] In Orlando, Florida, USA but whatever...
Lmao I was servicing an old machine we used at the firm from like 10 years ago and it was AM2, only 2 sockets behind what AMD currently uses
You can't even pretend that's comparable. AMD isn't terribly better, they just took an eternity to release a new architecture. FM2 and FM2+ isn't terribly different than Intel's cycle.
If this is true that's pretty stupid, I mean two mainstream chipsets in the same year? Are you for real Intel?
They are trying to be Sony, releasing 2 flagship phones a year. [editline]2nd August 2017[/editline]
I guess they can gather attention no only through shitty thumbnails, but also doing whatever that costs a lot of money, since the normal consumer will probably never, or ever actually need to have to experience. Whether it done on purpose though, I can't say. But it's like how people watch Casey Neistat with his elite airline travel. just showing off how cool it is to be in different first class experiences to share them in a video to the viewers
A lot of people watch things (whether it's on YouTube or on TV) because it's interesting to experience someone else's experiences and lives. That's why vloggers and travel videos are so interesting to many.
How come there are no type C usb hubs. I want like a 10 port hub with all the connections on it... Type C. if anything it doesn't make sense with how rare Type C is on the host machine with how hard it is to get to normally. The whole point is to not need to plug it in the right way, but you still need to deal with USB super positions due to host connections continuing to be A. I can find plenty of hubs where it connects to the computer via C, but not giving multiple C ports.

I can find plenty of hubs where it connects to the computer via C, but not giving multiple C ports.
I think usb type c is still in the adoption phase, meaning it's still new that everyone is focusing on adoption of previous type a products first. Those hubs that you'd want will probably come out once there's an actual demand for it. I'd imagine it would start becoming available next year.
Yeah still plenty of growing pains for C. A completely different connector hasn't been poised to take over everything in a long time. Even with speed boosts like 3.0 the socket was still backwards compatible for type A, B, micro, etc and A was still the host for most. Probably looking at original adoption of USB for an idea on time line.
Problem is I actually have Type C peripherals and I have to use Type A to Type C adapter cables nonstop. I just want to use type c to type c. It's dumb. We're not adopting it because so many peripherals are to "deal" with C. Makes me grumpy.
We are adopting it. You can't expect a relatively drastically different connector to usurp something like USB A overnight man. These things take years.
What I would love is a USB-C hub, with a USB-A host connector. It's not like you'll be using USB-PD or alternate modes through a hub. Just gives you a bunc of USB-C ports, even if your host machine has none. Plus it could give a boost to USB-C device adoption in that you don't even need USB-C ports on your host machine. But I've looked and I just dont think it exists right now. Would love to be proven wrong.
We are adopting it. You can't expect a relatively drastically different connector to usurp something like USB A overnight man. These things take years.
Look I know that, I do. I'm just surprised that this specific thing hasn't happened yet. There are loads of USB Type C hubs, but all as Type C hosts. I know we're not going to see 500 different Type C hubs, but I was hoping for like... just a single one that had more than one downstream C port. And by adopt I mean users. The market is moving that way obviously, but from a user standpoint their computer *might possibly* have one Type C port, and that Might be gen 2, probably not. No one yet has jumped into the niche of someone who has multiple C devices and maybe wants to connect them at the same time. I guess I'm just ready to jump into the new connector and adopt it, but that's the missing link for my setup. I have so much shit on my desk, I'd love a reversible connector up here on my desk.

This is why I have strict policy entirely against Seagate. I've never had a drive ever fail like Seagates do, and that's more than just 3TBs. I've seen it at every capacity.
But Eww 5400rpm
Well for what its worth Seagates RMA process is pretty simple.

A cheap drive is a cheap drive no matter the manufacturer. Still have a 240gb Seagate SSD, 2tb barracuda, and 4tb NAS kicking it just fine.
New 3D printer came in but they tried to deliver it at 1PM on a Wednesday and it requires a signature. Of-fucking-course I wasn't home you dipshits people are at work during that hour.
So I have a bunch of stuff on this Seagate 2TB I got awhile back, I didn't bother buying a portable one since that was pricey and I figured the Seagate would be better than the WD Green that was $20 less at the time. Anyways, I found out that none of that shit has been uploaded to Google Drive so I'm now uploading 2TB of shit over my slow ass 10Mbps Internet connection. Gigabit Internet, please finish your construction already. Anyways, I like how I can install Google Drive and just set the directory to where ever I want. I set the directory to that 2TB drive, selected not to sync 8TB of existing shit I already had online, and just cut and paste stuff into the upload folder on the same drive. And as expected, stuff starts uploading.
Are there any rumors about Volta yet? I'm about to finally (FINALLY) build a new rig, and I just know that as soon as I buy a 1080 Ti, something better will come out, because that's what always happens.
It would probably solve so many issues, if file-sync services like dropbox/seafile/gdrive could allocate their own filesystem on your machine. Even if its only to make it so the folder never needs to be checksumed (because all modifications can only go through their driver.) Like you could literally piggyback on ZFS or btrfs to get, revisions, deduplication, incredibly fast differentials, high small file performance, etc.
Work was throwing a bunch of stuff away so I rummaged through it in case there was anything useful. Found some not-too-old COM express modules sort of like these. [t]http://www.tuskembedded.com/wp-content/uploads/2013/11/COM-Express%C2%AE-Type-6-Rugged-Ultra-Lite-Carrier-Board.jpg[/t] What the hell, these are amazing - mobile i7 and 16GB of RAM with full ports, even PCI-e x16 for only slightly larger than a Raspi. I would pay so much money for a fully modular laptop using these.
Also I bought that mallninja knife. plan on buying more Going to also buy a trenchcoat and fedora and a katana
