I have 20/20 vision but I have been prescribed glasses before. I haven't worn them in 9 years. Yes I should get my eyes checked again but I have other important bodily stuff in mind.
6/3 mother fuckers 👉😎👉
i hate to use glasses, they get so dirty all the time and it's worst for people who rides motorcycles like me, i need to remove them all the time to put the helmet, and it get's dirty so fast in the road
Let's be real, I highly doubt genetics is the dominant reason why a ton of people have bad eyesight in a thread full of computer loving nerds.
Both my parents need glasses but I don't....yet
Let's be real, I highly doubt genetics is the dominant reason why a ton of people have bad eyesight in a thread full of computer loving nerds.
It is a big factor. Just to give one example, eyecolors derived from low melanin levels and conditions like albinism can affect your exposure and response to the light, be it natural light or a screen light. Not much stress needed to make things get blurry from there.
I just use telegraf + influxdb + grafana not only does is telegraf fetching shit from wmi/win_perf_counters (because windows), but it's also fetching form my nginx webserver. also just loaded telegraf onto my main pc. They both share the same telegraf database in influxdb, and measurements use the same key terms. But since tags are really great, it uses the hostname as it's tag. Using a variable on the hostname tag, I implemented a quick switch on that variable, using the same dashboard for multiple computers. since telegraf is written in Go, it just works. I only started using grafana about last week, but I could probably deploy these two to a computer within about 10-15 minutes now
Since I already had collectd all set up, I just switched from Graphite to InfluxDB and managed to get everything working [t]http://i.imgur.com/2oDd61R.png[/t]
Since I already had collectd all set up, I just switched from Graphite to InfluxDB and managed to get everything working [t]http://i.imgur.com/2oDd61R.png[/t]
yeah, may I ask how long this took? My friend next to me, also running a similar setup on his linux machine says he tried graphite but it was a pain in the ass. Influx is really simple to understand and get in to. Even though it took me a few hours to find out I wasn't putting the data into an array, apart from that, the json to input my internet usage is really simple over a python library. I'm yet to still learn the direct http api
Let's be real, I highly doubt genetics is the dominant reason why a ton of people have bad eyesight in a thread full of computer loving nerds.
well, if you had perfect eyesight there wouldn't be much to post relating to a series of posts complaining about bad eyesight but yes according to recent research various environmental factors (i.e. outdoor light, bifocal contact lenses) can greatly reduce the progression of childhood myopia so it's not that much of a stretch

Also, a flip down sun-visor.
I'm trying to decide if I want to get prescription sunglasses. I'm probably going to be outside never. Because of that though, the sun is blinding and it can be hard to drive.
My Pixel is already in my city at a facility but I have to wait until Monday to get it. rip
I wear glasses and I also wear sunglasses indoors, even if it's like midnight outside. Why? Because my job involves watching TV all shift long and sunglasses do help, like a lot.

Basically f.lux except in glasses form and less noticeable.
I find it funny how every time I go get my eyes checked I pass the test but in reality my right eye can't focus past 10m properly, even less in poorly lit areas. I still have no idea how I'm the best marksman in my area with such poor vision on the eye I aim with
Maybe go to a different Optometrist.
2 different ones in the mandatory school/uni health exam, 2 different ones for my driving license, one "independent professional" which my mom visits regularly, they all said the same I think my country just has crappy doctors in general
2 different ones in the mandatory school/uni health exam, 2 different ones for my driving license, one "independent professional" which my mom visits regularly, they all said the same I think my country just has crappy doctors in general
So is it an Eye exam to find out what correction needs to be done or is it simply "you pass" or "you fail" Makes it sounds like it's the latter. I just astigmatism, so everything is blurry not due to focus. Like if you put a blur filter on a video. It also normally gets worse over time so even now I need to focus with my glasses to work on my computer. THough still helps a lot vs not having them. My lenses are also very scratched.
Well I know that in USA you have that 20/20 thing, we have kinda the same thing here, you have a giant board with different sized letters and they ask you to read out the 3rd from below (I think) and if you can do that, you "pass" but if you can't they start moving up until you can read one line out and then they give you an estimate of the dioptre needed to correct your eyesight
I meant it as in 15 cm is as far as I can focus. Everything past 15 cm is blobs. < 15cm is fine.
You have much better eyesight than I do. My sight's so bad anymore that without my glasses my focal point is so close to my face that I physically can't focus on it without straining my eyes badly. (~8ish cm or so.) Meaning that without my glasses I'm effectively blind.
You guys should get out more often
Plenty of people are genetically predisposed to eye problems. And it's even worse for someone like me whose genetic predisposition is nearsightedness to begin with on top of being an avid reader and heavy computer user. My eyesight's by far the worst in my entire family. Then there's assholes like my father who are farsighted and read a lot and use computers enough to basically completely offset their natural farsightedness.
When you win a raffle when you're half asleep been up for like 27 hours or so [editline]8th July 2017[/editline] won some cable mod sleeves for when you deck your pc for showcasing sold em to the guy next to me for forty bucks
Get some gunnars (or an equivalent cheaper brand) my man. Basically f.lux except in glasses form and less noticeable.
I'll check those out but using sunglasses seems to reduce if not eliminate the eye strain I get after a work shift.
I had glasses before I used a computer.
How did people not have computers
I had glasses before I used a computer.
same I had glasses at three months old
I blinded myself because I was autist and mesmerized by playing The Sims on PS2 and stood with no space between the screen and I. [editline]8th July 2017[/editline] I destroyed my eyes, then got glasses when I was 10-11.
Let's be real, I highly doubt genetics is the dominant reason why a ton of people have bad eyesight in a thread full of computer loving nerds.
My dad's farsighted and my mom's nearsighted. I was bound to have my eyesight deteriorate.
I've worn glasses since I was in the second grade. Recently I was thinking of trying out contacts. Can anyone who uses contact lenses give me some pros and cons to them?
Meanwhile I've been using computers almost daily since ~2000, I can still see distance fine I should probably see an optometrist some day and see if I should get some glasses to wear while working, just to stop it getting bad in the future
