Holy shit, that's all dentistry costs you guys?
yea an exam for me is atleast 100, scaling is another 75.
Even in Canada, it's such a pain in the ass that only certain things are covered under healthcare. I got seven months with a dermatologist with countless labs and shit purely for cosmetic reasons and it didn't cost me a cent. Now if I want to see a dentist about something that could be an infection that will risk my life if I don't tend to it: nope, gotta either have benefits which only cover 80% of the cost or pay out of pocket with payment plans. That's just backwards.
Thanks to AMD Threadripper, I can see that the 6950X was the biggest fucking rip off Intel ever made, unless someone can link me to a better example.
X399 and Threadripper is certainly amazing, but considering when X99 and the 6950X were launched, plus being a soldered die, are pretty good. [editline]6th August 2017[/editline] Considering the platform, X99 + 6800K or 6850K is actually a pretty good value if you also intend to overclock, the X99 boards have come down a lot, and so have the two entry CPUs for it. Plenty of pcie lanes, lots of ram, and a good bit of overclocking headroom (vs Ryzen R7).
Those CPU's maybe, but why did the 6950X need to be $2500 AUD, when only a year later the 1920X destroys it for half the price? I guess the point I'm making is that they really were blatantly ripping people off, they could have sold it for 1500 AUD. The funniest part is that the 7900X is getting shat on by the 1920X. I'm still curious to see what that 7980XE is going to do. Sounds almost like the old QX9775 naming.
2017 is probably going to be year of the amd
Holy shit, that's all dentistry costs you guys?
Compared to NHS medical which costs £0, seems silly to me. You're right it's not expensive compared to some places, but it makes more sense to just group it under NHS general and cost £0 you'd think. [editline]6th August 2017[/editline]
2017 is probably going to be year of the amd
has been the year of the amd. Surely Intel can't have many cards left, if any.

[t]https://www.helifreak.club/image/20170806115919895.png[/t] Windows Server 2016 folks.
Feeling the need to vent. I've worked in one of Swedens biggest electronic retail stores for about year and a half now and I don't really have any fun/stupid stories until now. Had a lady, maybe 60-65 years old, coming in monday to buy a simple laptop to watch netflix on when she's not near her desktop. We managed to find that an Asus E200 worked best for her in her budget and size class. Forward Wednesday when Im having my day off she comes in and yells at my coworker that the included office package only lasts until January, and not 1 year. My Co-worker tells her that she needs to activate it before january, and it will last 1 year after activation. She refuses to listen and also complains that a piece of plastic fell off when she jammed in/took out the charging cable to which my colleague sees that its also scratched (so she's not been careful) and tells her that its not covered by warranty. Later it turns out she is drunk and reeks of alcohol and shouts out death threats to a colleague at the return desk. She's promptly kicked out by one of the managers. Then Friday she's managed to get a hold of our CEO in Sweden, who feels sorry that she's not had a pleasant experience and refunds her everything and tells us we did wrong.

We've been working on a script that deletes most of the AppX packages from a Windows 10 image. Funny enough, if you run the script before a sysprep, the sysprep is 100% guaranteed to fail :why:
goddamn y'all need to brush your teeth more
Hi guys, I'm enjoying some tea right now
She refuses to listen and also complains that a piece of plastic fell off when she jammed in/took out the charging cable to which my colleague sees that its also scratched (so she's not been careful) and tells her that its not covered by warranty.
Old people fucking suck for tech support. I do not miss in that regard having to0 deal with a 70something persian guy who is all pissed at me that it is somehow my fault the AC adapter I sold him broke after he caught the power cable with his knees and ripped half the damn socket out of his shitty old laptop I've had to de-malware more than once because. There was another person I once dealt with who kept setting the fucking boot password, then waking up the next day and forgetting what it was so it kept coming back to get reset.
yesterday I went to lenscrafters, got a new exam and new glasses. And only like the middle center of my vision is in focus. It's been stressing me out since i thought maybe my new prescription was so strong that I now don't have peripheral vision. But a few friends mentioned they must have messed up the lens creation. But basically with my face pointed at the middle of my monitor I can't read the time on the task bar unless I turn my head to point to the clock. it's very annoying when video editing when I can't even read the filenames in the project box
Its going to live or die based on how far AMD can push the infinity fabric and other interconnects. Making the current synthetic benchmarks pretty pointless. If it works tho, they'll have a much much cheaper chip to produce then Intel does, with their bigger dies.
Anyone ever thought of using vhdx files as a form of archival? Considering doing it for "backups", where I have big directories of computers. Like for instance I'll store a directory of my users folder for each year and over time I'll merge them and get rid of dupe files. Considered storing each in a VHDX file so instead of the filesystem looking through each file causing slowdowns it's really only seeing one. Then maybe if I store it as NTFS I can run a dedupe inside of it. Just an idea.

You might even be able to use volume shadow copy (assuming you use Windows) to convert a snapshot to VHDX. There is an outdated Sysinternals tool (https://docs.microsoft.com/en-gb/sysinternals/downloads/disk2vhd) that sort of does it. Too bad it only does VHD and only does a full disk AFAIK.
I can't believe Intel is fucking dead
Today was payday. I got paid like 200€ more than I expected, line leader saw that we worked hard and paid us the permanent worker wage instead of student wage. wowee, now I don't know what to do with the money.

So I have these backups from like 2014, 15, 16, 17, etc. Can considered just packaging them each as individual .VHDX files so when I need to move data around, there isn't the overhead of reading thousands of files, just a single one. Then Just mount it when I want to access the data.
Why not zip them up?
Step #1 to a happy Protocol7: Don't ambush me with questions as soon as I set foot in the office.
I will just bombard you with questions when you about to leave instead!
People try that sometimes too, I just tell them "sorry gotta make my train" and nope on out of there.
Step #1 to a happy Protocol7: Don't ambush me with questions as soon as I set foot in the office.
This drives me crazy. Before I've even gotten to clock in, "Zack, Randall's computer is broken!" -the monitor was unplugged- "Zack, take a look at Sam's computer!!!" -She was trying to log in as admin instead of Sales- "Zack! I can't remember how to breathe!!!!!!" Makes me so frustrated. Or when the Google Hangouts spam starts as I'm driving to work so I can't read it but the notification noise is playing really loud again and again over my music: Zack Good morning Having issue problem with computer number 27 please look at it user is unable to login and cant move stations thanks This was an actual string of messages copied verbatim from our remote location I got THIS MORNING ALONE as I was stuck in traffic. Each line was a new message so my phone was just going crazy while all I wanted to do was listen to Gaga. Is that so wrong?
Those messages are the worst. I sometimes get those in a twitter DM, which in case people didn't know, doesn't have a character limit. hi hi hi hi help help? hello? you there ???????????????????????????? can you help hi i have a card not work hello? help help help hi? cant rec cod can you help? That's an actual conv I woke up to btw. Ended up being able to help him.
