Indeed, it's hardware-accelerated.
It's definitely not something for sites that want lots of backwards compatibility, but the site I'm using it for isn't so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Woo, finally home after almost two weeks on vacation.
Of course, even though all my shit was unplugged the first thing I discover is my $400 KVM has died and won't pass video anymore.
k PAX is about 3 weeks away, need to figure out which laptop to get. Was going to get the Dell, but the quality control seems to be a joke on it.
But I might get in trouble for buying a razer laptop :v:
Once I went to best buy looking for a displayport cable. I asked an employee since I could find one and his response was "displayport to what?" He actually wouldn't believe me when I tried telling him they make displayport straight through cables and it isn't just for adapting stuff.
[editline]10th August 2017[/editline]
Probably wouldn't happen nowadays though with how much more common it is in consumer equipment.
I have monitors at work where they have a mini displayport as the input.
Try explaining to your boss that all the mini displayport to DVI/HDMI adapters do not work that way around.

That reminds me, I should start playing around with PowerShell again.
Problem with powershell is that half the commands are depreceated the time you get around to using them. I think half the time I tried to manipulate a last-rev exchange the commands weren't available anymore and the other half they weren't in yet.
It is a nice framework and if they were to actually support their own features consistently and be strict not just with the naming but the behavior of everything it would actually be great. Also love when certain commands can't be used like Get-Thing "<name or email>" anymore because now you have to pass random-ass objects that have to be converted 3 times. Which wasn't a problem 3 revisions earlier.

Powershell at least has the -example switch which is pretty nice at times

Only thing that really bugs me with ubuntu is the lack of nslookup and co. no dig, nothing. Just some string of words that can do it.
Powershell at least has the -example switch which is pretty nice at times
Not sure I know about that one; does it actually give you example commands? That is definitely useful, sometimes man sucks where it's all like [command] [arg1] ... [argn] and you're just like, well, ok.

Ubuntu bugs me in general. CentOS for me all the way.

This is a pain with storage since I can for instance change the usage of a drive in my server by using set-physicaldisk -friendlyname "ATA ST3000DM001" -usage retired
but if I want to remove the dick, I have to do like remove-physicaldisk -deviceid 9ij2398ndf-89qinf9q3nr-93run-938rn29-8n3r2-983nrf-982jr3n-982h3nr and finding that device ID is a fucking pain in my ass. Can't use friendly name for that shit. Same for renaming devices. I wanted to rename the drives in powershell to represent their hotswap bay.
Would take like an hour.

It basically just outputs the bottom portion of the technet page for the command
All the textbooks in school I used for Windows Server mentioned that PowerShell is a thing that exists, not much else. I really need to get to know in depth PowerShell as it's pretty nice for most things.

Why is this missing like exchange online, etc. I hope they make it more complete. I see a lot of people complaining about that.

Yeah if this included the clusterfuck that is exchange online it'd be a godsend

Why not embrace the second half of your name and use OS X?

As they continually limit your ability to dig into the OS and have proper abilities.
I know I'm not nearly the most outdated person on here, but I'm finally doing it. I just ordered the new build. Time to retire the old Mac Pro that I've pushed far beyond its limits.
I think I managed to be one of the last people to get a pair of eclipse glasses from the last NASA officially sponsored site to still have them in stock ($5 for 4 pairs at that) on the last day that they offered free shipping that was guaranteed to arrive before the 21st

I have a four-pack that I'm only like 98% sure are safe... they weren't on a NASA-sponsored list and they don't seem to have a real website or anything, but they pass every test I can do with them myself.

Mu Surface Pro 2 is still going fine, never had any hardware problems with it. They might be talking about new models only, the SP3 changed a lot IIRC.

Not mine, but my sister has gone through a lot of Surfaces over the years, they just die and have weird hardware issues sometimes. Microsoft has been pretty good at working with them though, so YMMV.

Last year I traded a SP3 I had for like a day for a SP4 M3 because the fans were making noise and I feel like I've eliminated one point of failure
Well the SP3 has horrible overheating problems so it's no surprise on that front. But Microsoft tends to ignore a lot of firmware problems.

I have a Surface 3 at work that I absolutely hate, but thats mostly because the software I'm forced to use on it doesn't work properly on Windows 10.
Management isn't interested in investing any more money into it yet they insist on using it for more and more tasks.
All our problems could be solved if they got a PC running Windows 7 and spent $50 on a thermal receipt printer.
Shit I was gonna order some but I completely forgot
Probably too late now, only ones you're going to find are severely marked up (try $10 a pair for what are basically paper 3D glasses) made in china ones

In a pinch you can hit up hardware stores for welding goggles though (Shade 13 or 14 lenses I've heard)
