it actually won't uninstall in safe mode, just straight up refuses
even after I managed to uninstall it it kept doing it so I reinstalled windows (was a fresh install anyway)
it's been running for a couple hours now with no issues so I guess that was it
It could have been something else causing it. Did you look into Event Viewer to see what was causing it? It's definitely too late now to look at the logs after a full fresh install.
At least I have an excuse for keeping my computer on 24/7, it never POSTs the first time complaining about CPU fan speed. The bearings are going bad so that after a cold start it needs that first boot to warm up the lubrication, then POSTs the second boot every time :v:
Now to see if the fan can survive to black friday for my Ryzen upgrade
Can you try manually starting it like an old prop plane?

Maybe you just need to install a crank

Yeah he broke the battlefront 2 space combat trailer thread too
My PC is due for an OS refresh, but I'm waiting for my ISP to add the free unlimited data add-on I was supposed to get so I can re-download software and games. Ugh, so many days I've had the time to do it but I don't wanna waste my bandwidth until I get it added.
why the fuck do you have ai suite
I have it so I can change case and CPU fan speed curves - But yes, it's a horrible piece of shit so I stay away from it as much as I can.

use speedfan
Jesus Christ mate
Speedfan. been a long time since I've heard that recommended.
I cannot wait for the day when I can afford to run my own rack. Dealing with datacenter through colo companies is such a pain in the ass. We were trying to get access to install a new disk in a machine and some other maint, we scheduled the appointment to get to the machine in the DC a week in advance through the colo company. First, they scheduled access to the wrong area of the DC, so had to wait half an hour for that to get resolved and now after I just shut down the machine remotely, we're having issues with getting access to the cage. So here I am sitting in a cafe, 3 minutes from the DC, on my laptop cleanly shutting down the machine and monitoring everything I can, while my partner is stuck outside the cage, looking at the machine unable to do anything while we wait for the company to stop fucking everything up. We're TRYING to minimise downtime but they're really not helping.

The guy they sent didn't even know what a crash cart was. I think we're gonna be changing provider...
I don't know what a crash cart is either when we are not talking about hospitals. That colo sounds terrible, most have 24/7 access anyway, but I guess if you are sharing a rack and are paranoid the people you are sharing it with could fuck you up. Usually doesn't happen tho.
I thought it was the other way around?
I thought HBM2 and its controllers were supposed to be more efficient than GDDR5(X), but it was the actual chip that was super hungry.
Though I do also remember reading that the HBM2 memory had to be ran overclocked/overvolted to reach AMD's desired performance.
Honestly I'm gonna withhold judgement on Vega as an architecture until the drivers are more fleshed out.
But so far it's not looking good. RTG dropped the ball hard in terms of distribution, marketing, etc...
I doubt the HBM2 is using a lot of power, and as far as I've heard the memory controller is still (way) more efficient than an equivalent GDDR5X one would've been (both are basically Buildzoid claims, I know shit) - I think it's simply that the cards scale horribly when it comes to core clock and power. Like look at this (obviously best case):
[t]https://tpucdn.com/reviews/AMD/Radeon_RX_Vega_64/images/perfwatt_3840_2160.png[/t]
The absolute performance difference between turbo and power saver is only 8%, but power saver is almost 50% more efficient.

I tried it and it's kinda useful for Asus-related updates that for whatever reason Windows Update sometimes misses and the fan profiles it makes after you do the test but realistically I just let the motherboard figure out what fan speeds to use. I eventually found out how loud my fans can go a while back but they never go that loud even when gaming or rendering videos.
My XPS 15 order is on hold due to verification of my identity. ugh, this will be a headache I guess.
Speedfan. been a long time since I've heard that recommended.
Fight me. Uses next to no resources, sits in the background and controls any fans you want, temps and fan curves.
Better than any shit like qfan or fan xpert.

well worth it. I love my XPS 15 9550.
there's a screen flicker issue with Intel drivers, just required a rollback to fix for me.
So what the hell is going on with youtube? I had a cousin come over last night to watch some cartoons and random videos on my tablet which isn't linked in any way to my laptop, they're on different google accounts but on the same wifi network and now every video in my recommended list on my laptop is cartoons and those random videos he watched. Worst part is even when I click on the "I'm not interested in this" they still keep popping up

Google knows you're the same person even if the accounts on each device are different. GOOGLE. KNOWS. :worried:
Recommendations plos, Seasonic platinum or snow silent 1050W?
Any better PSU's around that price point I should look at? I can only see them being best of the best on tier lists.

I'd agree with the paranoia thing here but the thing is none of the racks in the cage were locked except those owned by full rack customers. So I think were going to be moving provider within the DC. Unfortunately the fact we need a security escort from the provider is a DC policy not provider, so until we get our own rack we're stuck with that.

Yes and no. Vega in design scales decently, vega in implementation does not, the biggest factor in this is simply 14LPP. So, tradeoffs here, but the HBM is using a good chunk of power by itself which is raising the power usage of all models much higher. I guess what I meant is that the overall power usage we see across Vega SKUs would be better if HBM was. The huge hit we see from scaling would still hit hard but would it be 300w hard or 200w hard? If that makes sense. The HBM is a low hanging fruit.
I just want something that's a moderate improvement over my R9 380 that doesn't cost $800 on ebay

Sorry for linking a 40 minute video with no time stamp, but I'm pretty sure Buildzoid mentioned in passing that HBM2 consumption as measured on the card was below 20W somewhere around 25-30 minutes in. I'm obviously no expert, but that sounds fairly reasonable for VRAM on high end cards to me (and not like it'd be the thing destroying Vega)? I don't know - if you have some numbers/explanations that'd be pretty cool.

EVGA P2 has a higher rating for build quality on jonnyguru by a full point and I'd rather deal with EVGA for warranty. And unless you're running a triple GPU setup a 1050w is just a waste of money.

I did. There wasn't anything there of note at all, other than the log suddenly stopping when the machine would freeze.
In other news, the BIOS is bugged so that any messing with the CPU multiplier causes it to run at 2.2GHz only, and RAM timings don't stick. What the fuck asus.
Happy Monday everyone! I got to arrive to the office to the news that my client with the worst infrastructure just got crypto.
