I almost wish I went for the longer shipping time and got the fingerprint reader, skipped it because it added a few days to the estimated ship date.
Go return it after the event you're using it at, then get the one with the fingerprint reader. It's really weird af that you're having password and log in issues.

Never actually tried it of course. Paired up with the phone application, which was pretty trash as well. Asus is like NVidia, good hardware, pretty shit software
Finally found a good use for my sticker [t]https://my.mixtape.moe/vrklir.jpg[/t]
I think I had password issues when I first installed Windows 10 on my laptop too, but I can't remember what I did to fix it.
Finally found a good use for my sticker [t]https://my.mixtape.moe/vrklir.jpg[/t]
I'd be embarrassed to show that laptop to anybody
I'd be embarrassed to show that laptop to anybody
Over the years, I've collected a number of stickers that I always wanted to slap onto a laptop. But I figured it looks silly and tacky af so I never did it. I still haven't put any stickers on my Ryzen build, I have like 3 stickers that came with the parts I bought.

I used to put manufacturer stickers onto my PCs up until my last build, but when _certain_ manufacturers cheap out on them it sucks and when you transplant hardware it all falls apart.

Not gonna lie, Acer laptops are pretty darn cool Good alternative to thinkpads if you can't / don't want to get one of those for whatever reason
Not gonna lie, Acer laptops are pretty darn cool Good alternative to thinkpads if you can't / don't want to get one of those for whatever reason
Until they shake themselves to pieces.
Not gonna lie, Acer laptops are pretty darn cool Good alternative to thinkpads if you can't / don't want to get one of those for whatever reason
I'm a fair fan of modern Acer for making computers that are light, cheap but still manage to include great hardware. But the plastic they use for housings always starts to embrittle and crack at around the 2-3 year point and even the X1 Carbons have been holding up better (cosmetically) at this point.
If you're going to skin at least use something nice, like some real wood veneer, it just looks tacky and obviously fake otherwise, plus you can finish real wood however you like.
I doubt anyone wants my 7 year old thinkpad
My advice generally now is to always start off with an offline account regardless when creating users on Windows 10. Promoting it to online later when necessary, Online accounts trim your user profile directory to the first 5 chars of your first name :v: pretty aids
It actually worked out pretty great for me, my ms email is firstname.lastname@domain.com, and my first name is actually just 5 characters long, so my ms account is my name, despite it being online from the start :v:
If I found a new Thinkpad with the features I wanted, I'd go with that. I love how... classic they feel without looking cheap. Have a very serious aesthetic.
Until they shake themselves to pieces.
Odd, I've not had that happen to me. Are you referring to a specific model or just in general?
So trying to update Windows broke all the network drivers on 3 of these new surface pro's I'm setting up and Microsoft's driver pack won't work on the version of windows the surfaces ship with, they need to be updated first. What in the flying fuck Microsoft.
I doubt anyone wants my 7 year old thinkpad
I feel you, I have a hard time selling my T420.
This just sounds like Windows 10?? [editline]24th August 2017[/editline] I thought that's just what you accepted when you use it
Microsoft has it's own level of stupid when it comes to W10 and Surface devices though. Like, Windows update can't find the driver for the SP3 buttons.
I just received a 401K scam on my fax machine. Reason to keep fax machines around: The spam is entertaining.

But I guess if your network drivers broke, you can't use Windows Update to fix them. :v:
Odd, I've not had that happen to me. Are you referring to a specific model or just in general?
Chromebooks mostly.
Watched a RLM video before I went to bed on my laptop. Man, that thing + Edge has amazing battery life. Watched an hour long video on med brightness and it said 13hours remaining. Pretty efficient. However, I put it to sleep, set it on my desk and tried to turn it on and it was dead. I hit the power button, fans spun up and then turned off again. Did this 10 times and then plugged it in to charge it. Said the battery was 0% charge... ??? But I put it in sleep mode.

[cpp]powercfg -lastwake[/cpp] Sometimes has good info on the culprit, if you see it turn on on its own.
