Fuck, my Mi Box got held up in customs for weeks and now the national post is gonna charge me 10 € so I can pay them 12 € in taxes. I hate this, there is no legal grounds for them to charge for this and there is no way to avoid the fee.
I checked out Amazon Prime Day and it looked ok, it's realistically overstocked items Amazon wants to get rid of. There wasn't many sales on desktop components besides power supplies, liquid coolers and some cases. This one seems good and was probably recommended earlier https://www.amazon.ca/CORSAIR-Extreme-Performance-Liquid-CW-9060025-WW/dp/B019EXSSBG/ref=sr_1_1?s=prime-day-secondary&psr=PDAY&ie=UTF8&qid=1499792635&sr=1-1&keywords=cpu%2Bliquid%2Bcooler&th=1 This case looks good, there's a $30 coupon for it https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B00LA6POK4/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_ttl?_encoding=UTF8&colid=TNNFHP9UA6CV&coliid=I1NY3J6A5A36I6&psc=1 it seems to have a hard drive caddie system, it's huge with plenty of space to put shit in it, etc. There was a sale on Seagate drives but it's only for 2.5 inch drives which isn't what I want. Everything else I already have bought in the past (aka a lot of the AmazonBasics shit).
There are some deals I'd like to buy but now I've only got $100 in my account and this has to last me until probably the 20th when I next get paid. I'd put it on a credit card, but I've put a good dent in my debt and don't want to start going down that road again. I'm not necessarily poor, but my poor financial decisions in the past finally caught up to me. (Don't open up credit cards.)

It makes me thankful I live in the US, with very strong and cheap domestic shipping + subsidized ePacket shipping from Hong Kong

I don't tend to keep and eye on capture devices these days, but I'm after a HDMI capture device of some description. Can be PCI-E or USB3.0, needs a relativity low input delay as I need to monitor the input within capture software. (So assuming a PCI-E device would have less input lag) What should I be looking for? Edit: Will mostly be 1080p30 dont think ill ever need 4k. willing to buy a used device also.
I got a sweet deal on an Amazon warehouse motherboard, price was already reduced and then another 20% off
I also have no idea what I'm looking for in terms of parts beyond That full tower case I linked or something similar Ryzen 1700 That liquid cooler I linked or something similar Some AM4 motherboard with m.2 NVME, Gigabit, ATX or larger to fit the massive case at least 32GB of DDR4 RAM (with option to add more later without ditching the entire kit) 500GB Samsung 950 or 960 EVO or Pro 2TB HDD of some sort NVIDIA 1060 or 1070 or 1080 Doesnt have to be off Amazon Canada, it can be off other stores such as Canada Computers, NCIX, whatever else that's online. Don't need it right away but would like to build it soon. I'll probably make a thread for this.

Any idea on what to do with a spare Archer TU2 AC600, other than sell? I don't need it for the computer I planned to use it on anymore, and I wanted to see what use I could put it to
Found out that there is a VR room thing in another city. They have 3 HTC Vives set up and they have some co-op games etc. 15min 10€ 30min 15€ 1h 25€ or on workdays from 10-15 it is 1h 15€. Seems like a really nice way to spend a morning with a few friends. Saw 2 guys playing Raw Data co-op, seemed to be pretty fun.
Elgato HD60 is on amazon, its on sale at £100. Y/n? USB Version, whats the latency like on preview?
Elgato HD60 is on amazon, its on sale at £100. Y/n? USB Version, whats the latency like on preview?
Plain HD60 doesnt have low-latency preview. HD60 S and Pro does.
*cracks knuckles* HD and HD60 have internal H.264 encoders. HD60 S does not. HD60 Pro has both. The latency comes from the encoders, not really the interface. PCIe and USB3 just have enough bandwidth to offer uncompressed YUV422 recording. If you're on a lower end machine the HD and HD60 make sense. Since if you're only recording, they can do all the legwork. If you're doing ANYTHING outside of recording specifically in our software, it encodes on your computer since the video is compressed, then sent over USB2, then decoded, then compressed again. The latency for the HD60 is about 44 frames at 60fps. Can be more depending on system load. HD is more like 3 seconds. HD60 S and HD60 Pro offer about 3 frames of latency, low enough to literally play the game in the preview window. Personally, the HD60 S is my favourite because it's convienent, and I prefer doing my own encoding. Like Prores in OBS Studio.
get us coupons on the HD60 S brt
*cracks knuckles*
Welp so much for that, I'm using a knarly old Roxio GC SD, the response time is plenty fast enough to play games on but the quality is shockingly bad. Its all noisy and garbage like but at least the preview is pretty damm fast, that or im so used to it now. Its being captured over YPbPr. I'm using this for showing my modded Xbox360 so I can make changes to system memory in real time without having to swap screens. I mean, this is 720P. [T]https://vgy.me/gvQOkM.png[/T] Got about 10 mins to make a decision on the HD60, still got it im my amazon cart even though the deal has ended. And yes Im well aware that halo 3 does not run at native 720p, but look at the frickin noise. Its even worse on games like halo reach where motion blur is present. Edit: ah fack it, bought the HD60. Will make it work one way or another, I just can bear the shit quality I've had for 4 years. If I cant well im sure amazon returns will understand my issue with the product, or Ill return it in exchange for the extra £50 for the next version up.

Also composite is one hell of a drug.
1152*640. Halo 3 has not aged that well.
Eh, clarity wise sure but art style wise I'd say it aged pretty decently as a whole. It still looks pretty nice, imo.
1152*640. Halo 3 has not aged that well.
Heres what it SHOULD look like. [T]https://vgy.me/ADtKLu.jpg[/T] This was captured using a on using a software plugin on the console. And for comparisons sake: [T]https://vgy.me/jNPLo6.png[/T] :disgust: I'll stop shitting up the thread now.
If only there was some sort of internet address companies could use so I don't get popups asking me to contact the FCC about net neutrality.
And this is over component? Which device is that? Looks like it's converting to composite first.
I wonder if Elgato is developing something to run over usb type c 10 Gigabit/s
HD60 S is Type C but 3.1 Gen 1, so 5gbps.
I wonder if Elgato is developing something to run over usb type c 10 Gigabit/s
USB type C is the physical connector, it can easily just be USB 2.0 in a fancy package (early adopter smartphones and some cables) Call it USB 3.1 since that's the electrical standard.
HD60 S is Type C but 3.1 Gen 1, so 5gbps.
Why the fuck did the USB-IF organization decide to rename USB 3.0 as USB 3.1 Gen 1? It's like they're intentionally trying to make it confusing and deceptive.

That looks like composite being upscaled to 720p. Even component 480p has great clarity and color, just low res.
Why the fuck did the USB-IF organization decide to rename USB 3.0 as USB 3.1 Gen 1? It's like they're intentionally trying to make it confusing and deceptive.
They didn't. 3.0 is 3.0. 3.1 is 3.1 except there's two modes of 3.1. 5Gbps and 10Gbps. With 5Gbps you dont get any tangible speed advantage over 3.0 but you do get less protocol overhead. Simply put, if you're going to ship something USB 3 @ 5Gbps, there is no reason to go with 3.0 anymore. It's superseded, not by anything significant but still superseded by something slightly better. It basically is a drop-in replacement for 3.0, and on its own it is still slightly better, and generally wont require hardware changes, just firmware, unless you go for 10Gbps. So there's no reason not to.
 [editline]12th July 2017[/editline] I wrote a script to log data from teamspeak to influx it not only wrote 2MB/s over the network, but also locked up the interface I converted it to async to hopefully free up the interface and well, it worked it just writes a lot of data now [vid]https://tenryuu.blob.core.windows.net/astrid/17-07-12_15-55-57.webm[/vid] it's actually locking up any queries the best part is that it's running even after I close teamspeak why can't you just write once a second like you're meant to :saddowns:
