Had a deal today, sold my T420 for 175$. The bloke said his previous laptop smoked out even tho he cleaned out the vent grills with compressed air and he doesn't know how to open up the case. Told me that videos lagged and performance was abysmal before his laptop died. My laptop looked fine to him in the youtube test (opening a video in fullscreen) which was enough to seal the deal. I'll just wait for my salary now and then hop on the AM4 train with a8-9600 to begin with. Gotta do extreme budget build from zero existing pc parts. Can't fucking wait! Until then, my chinesium phone serves out basic needs.
Newegg apparently ships to Sweden now, buying a complete setup in parts from them costs ~100USD less than it would buying from a Swedish retailer, and that's with shipping and everything included. A pretty decent indication that shit has to change, cause this is just unfair as hell to Swedish businesses, there's no way for them to compete. I also have no idea how the power supplies are supposed to work, a 230V@50Hz to 120V@60Hz converter? would be better to just get one designed for the european market
PSA: if you sell old hardware on ebay, post it tracked. Sold my old mobo + CPU last week and the guy potentially tried to cheat me by claiming it never arrived. Messaged him back saying I had proof it had been and funnily enough the next day he replied saying it was delivered that morning. If I didn't have proof it was delivered things could have gotten extremely annoying.
I think I need to invest in an apt caching server, it takes 45 minutes to update all the packages on a fresh install of the latest ubuntu server iso. Yay 3mbps internet download speeds!

Chances are, that's what'll happen in Sweden unless they introduce import taxes and shit like that. Also aren't most PSUs 100-240V 50-60hz anyways? So they should be fine regardless of where you're plugging it in.
Yeah most units out there nowadays should be auto switching
In the age of Electron based applications I find it so refreshing to see the "good old" native programs do their thing. I just opened a 10 hour audio file in Audacity. Sure, it did take a minute to load and generate the waveform, but it only uses 45 MB of RAM. Then if you take a look at something like Atom. A text editor that uses several hundred megabytes of RAM... to open a small text file.
my senior design project for a top 20 fortune global 500 company that executives (general manager level) will be using is electron-based sorry not sorry
Windows 10 keeps changing the default UEFI boot option from Clover to itself. This is fucking IRRITATING. Any way to stop this? It's like they want me to stick to macOS full time.

Easily boots Windows, no issue there, I have no idea how Grub goes with OS X though, but my thought is if it doesn't, maybe use it to chain-load Clover, if possible?

Harddrive died in my laptop so bought a new one and didn't have recovery disks. Decided I may as well install Windows 10 instead of 7. Spent an hour after getting it installed, wondering why it was using 100% disk usage. Thinking the harddrive might be DOA. Turns out Windows Store was downloading every game possible at 100kb/s using 100% disk and 50% of CPU.

The fact that places like Microcenter and Fry's even exist on the scale they do, whether or not there's one near you, on top of what you can buy even at just Best Buy (Regardless of their pricing) is an achievement rare in many other countries. Not to mention just how huge sites like Newegg are. Don't take what you've got for granted, because it still is mighty impressive. In Australia, the best you can find is either a small local retailer that has only one location and a back room (As in, not a warehouse), or online retailers that either a) have good prices b) have a wide selection. Never both. The fact that just the other day I saw a selection of Raspberry Pi's and accessory kits in the Denver Microcenter amazed me. You could never, ever, ever see something that niche (that isn't even all that niche anymore!) in a retail store in AU, without going to some speciality store which probably is no where near you.

Still haven't done anything with mine.

You got one shop with a back closet in the largest city, and everything else is online. But hey we got one Best Buy, which is virtually worthless for PC components other than HDD's. The first time I stepped in a Microcenter I almost fucking died. The scale is unbelievable. You can actually go in, and find what your looking for. And get it on the same day! Amazing!
Well we finally got kicked out of the office since we rent out the parking lot for games. About time, there's only so long I can sit around drinking a beer doing nothing at work.
Why get blank keycaps tho? Especially with a backlit keyboard. That defeats the entire point of lighting your keys.
Because the keyboard has a white metal plate behind the keys that reflects the light hence why you can still see the colours.
We have MSY but it's nowhere near as prolific.
Well not to mention that every MSY store I've ever seen have been a standard streetside-retail storefront location. Stuff like Microcenter and Fry's all tend to be huge stores of their own building.
Microcenter? Fry's? Also what are you doing in terrorist land
terrorism, duh
I want to take a moment and shill about this really fucking awesome usb 3 sata 3 external hard drive enclosure I found for $10 [t]https://i.imgur.com/ss2J5L8.jpg[/t] it has an easy to open tool free door to quickly insert and pull out a 2.5 inch drive (there is foam inside the lid that squeezes the drive against the sata connectors) [t]https://i.imgur.com/5x8tQ5X.jpg[/t] and the best part is you can REMOVE THE ELECTRONIC BITS and use it as a 3.5 inch adapter [t]https://i.imgur.com/oGsbAIp.jpg[/t] god damn this vantec box is amazing
Link me, I’ve been looking for something like this
For a while the Denver Microcenter was selling pi zero's for .99 with any other purchase. Still haven't done anything with mine.
Shit, is that still going on?
Shit, is that still going on?
I dunno, I haven't been to microcenter in a minute.
if I had the money that person and the post office would hate me
You should make a bot to make 999 individual orders, making 999 of them come individually instead of in as big of several boxes as the fulfillment center can do for you. Then your post office will literally gut you alive after the 100th package.
