Are you gonna be alright with that Hurricane on the way?
We're pretty far inland in comparison to most of the east coast. Our danger is basically all wind. We'll probably lose atleast 2 trees and some of our roof.
That's my guess.
Can't you put it so sleep manually/via key combination?
Wait I just checked the power settings and it's right there. Dunno why I thought I had checked before and had difficulty. Don't mind me lol.
So system locked up overnight, but atleast I'm still stable at 2800. Noticed a good fps boost with that. I might try 2933 later with even looser timings, maybe boosting voltage more.
In other news, I bought four more 8TB Easystores, ran the extended 14 hour selftests on them, and shucked them. Put them in my desktop for a 16TB RAID10. Put the four 4TB drives in the server which replaced a failing 2TB, dual 640's and a 1TB. I'm now up to 60TB in the pool. Since I have cash rolling in, I'd like to finally swap out the parts with something low wattage, if I can verify ECC works then I'll more seriously consider putting my 1700 in the server to cut down power usage. Right now it sits at 220Watts, 260 watts when working. I think I can get it down to 120-130. Less power and less heat.
Probably just had bad luck in the silicon lottery. My Ryzen 5 1600 went to 3.8Ghz easy with less of a voltage bump than that.
I'm probably doing something wrong but using Asus's OC Tuner in the BIOS brings it up to 3.6GHz and is mostly stable until I play a game for longer than an hour so that's no good. Using AMD's Ryzen Master works better, I'm able to get it to 3.5GHz stable without it ever crashing (yet). Any higher and it tends to crash randomly whether it's on load or not.
It has taken a year and a half but I have finally leveled up from a Level 1 helpdesk -> Level 2 desktop support -> Level 3 network technician today
At this rate, extrapolating linearly I will be a Level 76 IT wizard by the time I am 60
thos tickets better watch out
Now my windows won't boot again :pcrepair:

And I'm still here looking for a fucking job.
I had someone message me on LinkedIn who's looking for tech support peeps, so hopefully I hear from him.
My Meraki APs arrived among other things...
I think I have a name lined up for it already...
We just found out that we have a IBM System x3650 M4 in one of our racks powered on, but doing absolutely nothing. Its not connected to the network so no scans would ever reveal it. Its been sitting at the "System" window in Server 2008 R2 for 900 days straight. Its still named WIN-(random letters).
Imagine dropping like five grand on a PC, and then forgetting you even had it before you could even finish setting up Windows. Like what the actual fuck. It says a lot about how poor the documentation was for the company we bought.

LinkedIn is pretty bloody useless. Use Indeed. I've gotten my last like, three jobs through Indeed. The most recent and current one being an IT position.
Also the advantage of being at a company with a small IT department is I'm immediately the highest tier of IT Support :v:

Everyjob I've "applied for" and got, was indeed.

I got my previous job through Indeed because I was actually contacted by an employer who found me through my resume and asked me to come in for an interview.
Indeed really is the best job searching app.

Companies here told me that LinkedIn is pretty good for searching for it positions in Melbourne. Indeed, seek are pretty good too. Don't use career one, they send spam
Google updated their geoip database a couple of days ago and have decided that Tokyo is actually in the Phillipines.
Woohoo for region locked android apps.

Linkedin is useful if you have niche yet searchable qualifications i.e. high level of experience / multilingual / uncommon certifications
It gives recruiters something to search for and I have not actually looked for a job for a while
That being said the Indeed resume posting does the same thing
Decommission it and take it home.
Ha! I wish. Would be a sick ESXI box. It will actually be replacing an even older server.

LinkedIn is like, easy mode applying for jobs but they get so many submissions nowadays, it's hard to really stand out.

I've been first level support at this company for a year now and I'm starting to get sick of it. Several people on the service desk left and it's just me and a few others against a massive amount of people needing support in the business. 2nd line won't budge with positions, seems like people prefer to stay in their cushy jobs rather than move up in ranks. This in turn leads to me being unable to progress my career in this company.
Should I look to move somewhere else? :/

What is level 1 support even like? I've heard it's basically just canned responses but at my company we don't have anyone under level 2 so I have no idea.

At level 1 you are basically an answering machine
You end up saying something like all you had to do was follow the damn train all day over
I've been for the past year working at IT Support at this hospital. That's p much my workday

Most of the time it's resetting user passwords, moving users across the business, dealing with email inquiries from various users across the business and such things. We set up new user accounts for a few systems as well and such. Also we deal with deliveries of small replacement items (keyboards, mice, cables), setting up new mobile phones for business users (mainly Windows Phones, occasionally iPhones) and also collections for equipment from our business units (printers, monitors, etc). We also book engineers to service equipment for all our business units.
We basically do all the shitty repetitive jobs so that no one from the 2nd line teams have to do them. They don't even ever have to speak over the phone, any additional information they need they just go "pls call customer and get more info". Because of this we often average around 200 calls a day across a handful of people on the service desk (about 4 usually, often just 2-3).
Please save me :(

Oh no, it was just a surprise to see someone message me.
I've been using Indeed with no luck yet. Once I recover from the tooth removal, I'm wanting to get back in full force applying again.
I gradute in a year and i still don’t have a solid job after uni :<
I just went to Uni and I am not sure what I am even going to study.
Cyber-physical systems? What's that even supposed to be? Hoping to get to know that before I graduate.

I didn't look for a job until I finished uni. Just started now in a small web development company.

How's your portfolio look? My personal coding projects (and one pretty impressive one in particular) are what finally got me hired in an IT position with no prior professional IT experience. My last job was as a cook, and having experience as a cook is what got someone to contact me to come in for an interview. Your portfolio is really important on Indeed, even moreso than usual.
What's nice is they merged the IT and Development departments at this company so even though I got hired for IT I was able to get in on some developer tasks, and can now put that on my portfolio.

Me personally if I'm in a job for a year and there's no strong sign of potential advancement I'd look elsewhere.
[editline]9th September 2017[/editline]
Also if any of you want to do a position that's basically advanced desktop support with plenty of opportunities to show your chops working on servers and networking equipment my company's hiring 3 of those spots. It's in Denver and we hire a lot of people from out of state so hit me up and I'll send you the relevant details.

get that floppy chassis-ed, thermally challenged, ULV dual core, horrible battery life, 2101 M.2 SSD detection error piece of garbage off my favorite news site
CrashPlan Home is shutting down and I've been using that with Windows Server 2008 R2 for a looong time. They recommend Carbonite, Carbonite apparantly starts crying when it sees it's not Windows XP -> 10. BackBlaze does the same thing. Anyone have any good ideas? - I'm literally only using backup for family photos.
