They didn't. 3.0 is 3.0. 3.1 is 3.1 except there's two modes of 3.1. 5Gbps and 10Gbps. With 5Gbps you dont get any tangible speed advantage over 3.0 but you do get less protocol overhead. Simply put, if you're going to ship something USB 3 @ 5Gbps, there is no reason to go with 3.0 anymore. It's superseded, not by anything significant but still superseded by something slightly better. It basically is a drop-in replacement for 3.0, and on its own it is still slightly better, and generally wont require hardware changes, just firmware, unless you go for 10Gbps. So there's no reason not to.
Actually I just assume it's 3.1 Gen 1 since it launched early last year. Might be bog standard 3.0
I also have no idea what I'm looking for in terms of parts beyond That full tower case I linked or something similar Ryzen 1700 That liquid cooler I linked or something similar Some AM4 motherboard with m.2 NVME, Gigabit, ATX or larger to fit the massive case at least 32GB of DDR4 RAM (with option to add more later without ditching the entire kit) 500GB Samsung 950 or 960 EVO or Pro 2TB HDD of some sort NVIDIA 1060 or 1070 or 1080 Doesnt have to be off Amazon Canada, it can be off other stores such as Canada Computers, NCIX, whatever else that's online. Don't need it right away but would like to build it soon. I'll probably make a thread for this.
Made a thread about it, built some sort of part picker list for it https://facepunch.com/showthread.php?t=1571077
Fixed it all instead of using async sleeps, which broke a lot and time.sleep, which hangs the whole process Added it to the internal Qt core, as a Qtimer [t]https://tenryuu.blob.core.windows.net/astrid/17-07-12_17-07-39.png[/t] Craig fix your shit azure server
Both my new Corsair fans sound like this Are they just broken?
Try flipping them from intake to exhaust, just to see what happens. I've had a very similar problem before.
In my experience it's usually due to either the case rubbing against the fan or vibration, add some spacers so there is a gap and use some rubber grommets to reduce vibration.
So I found out why they couldn't deliver the Server Rack. Startech sent me about 16 of them. On a goddamn palet.
So I found out why they couldn't deliver the Server Rack. Startech sent me about 16 of them. On a goddamn palet.
... what exactly did you pay for?

Please tell me you actually have them, if so, send a picture :v:
Don't be quick to winner me. I rejected the delivery. I wasn't allowed to just take 2-3. I had to take the whole order with me. Told them to reject it, since it wasn't what I ordered.
Should have kept it. Probably didn't read the description right and it was for that many.
https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/B00P1RJ9LS/ref=od_aui_detailpages00?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Yea, I paid $200 for 192U of server rack storage. Besides, like I said, they told me I had to take the entire thing at once. Since I didn't have a truck or a forklift I couldn't.
Made a couple more videos about those horrible Clamshell Dells.
Now that I have an SSD - it is amazing! What is not amazing is fixing all the permissions to reach my files on a 3TB HDD. Holy fuck off windows and it's permissions. It would be easier for me to just disable the babysitter than it is to wait for that bullshit to end.
No, Microsoft just expects you to ask all the people on Earth for permission The fact the everyone isn't included in the "Everyone" usergroup says a lot about Windows file permissions
I mean, anybody who's everybody has permission already. If you don't have permission already, then you're just nobody, and that's a totally different usergroup.

Windows file permissions and security feel like they're stuck in Windows 98. If you don't know what you're doing, you end up with like 50 windows deep in permissions completely lost when all you wanted to do was put a picture on another computer without using a flashdrive.
The best is when it says you need permissions from the owner but you are the owner and have full permissions.

Yeah this is why I just run a fileserver at home [editline]12th July 2017[/editline] Now that I have that 8tb drive for my plex datastore I can expand my fileserver to 2.5tb though!

Don't even talk to me about fucked up Windows permissions until you've dealt with this piece of shit: When they forced this thing to be installed across ALL managed devices, it fucked up everything. We couldn't even debug properly for a while because they locked off Visual Studio from accessing the GAC. No, I'm not making that up. It's supposed to be a drop-in replacement for UAC, but it came with its own set of permissions that locked us out of everything. Software developers! With no sysadmin rights on their own box! [sp]But don't tell anyone you can just take ownership of all of the directories it fucks up with the standard security dialogs :)[/sp]
how much time and money annually do you think businesses spend on dealing with Windows's bullshit
Network shares between workstations are a nightmare for that reason alone...
After years of dealing with Windows exclusively, setting up samba when I was putting my NAS together was like "... That's it??"
Even better, my plex media is an nfs share since I have a different VM on an SSD datastore for actual plex and holy crap I didn't know setting up a network share could be so easy.
how much time and money annually do you think businesses spend on dealing with Windows's bullshit
100% more than they should. I can tell you in just a small office, I have had times where I spend an hour or so trying to solve stupid shit like that all because of permissions. [editline]12th July 2017[/editline]
After years of dealing with Windows exclusively, setting up samba when I was putting my NAS together was like "... That's it??"
I mean it's the simplest concept in networking. It's not supposed to take a modern miracle and the blood of an orphan to make your share accessible to the whole network, but it does, in Windows.
So I've just realized, something is up with our home's power. During the night when I have my ceiling fan running I occasionally hear some short hums. At first I thought it was the bearings, but then noticed it sounded electrical. A few days ago I also heard it on a newly bought box fan, just in a different tone as it was coming from a different motor, but the timing of those hums were exactly the same. Then I also recalled that I sometimes heard some short hums during a Discord chat, but I thought that noise came from a friend. Last evening I paid attention and it's the EXACT same noise which comes from my brother's microphone. After a while I told my brother about me hearing those noises from my fans and he also hears it on his ceiling fan. I had Shadowplay running in the background while we were playing a game I and recorded it. It's not too audible however as we were blabbering over it, sorry for that. Linked it because huge. At 0:04 you can recognize the first hum originating from my brother's microphone. My microphone doesn't seem to be affected as it's USB powered, even though my computer is on the same circuit as my box fan is.
