Its shit. It doesnt even have a manual order option >.>
also I'm now only able to buy games through steam because new steam makes anything to do with non-steam games uglier and inferior
They need to implement aero. Steam looks alright as it is, but it could be better.
Steam updated when I started it but I don't see any changes. anything different?
You need to enable the beta option. Then you get a new UI and a new overlay.
You need to enable the beta option. Not a fan of this UI. Changing back.
My games library is all messed up
Mods and shortcut-games have a failing icon in the List feature. The Details listing feature is really annoying because I can't sort it (probably because my dropdown lists when rightclicking are blank), and because you can't hide the Game Info(rmation) box or add information for yourself. oh well it's still a beta.
Holy shit, I don't need to use IE to view screenshots any more Fucking finally, I've been waiting for this feature for ages

Then edit the "Arial Bold" to "Arial Black" then it'll be fixed.
It all works hunky-dory for me. Edit: King of page 2, suck it internet!
The Details listing feature is really annoying because I can't sort it (probably because my dropdown lists when rightclicking are blank)
There doesn't seem to be a way to sort that list besides custom categories. [editline]11:00AM[/editline] Also, in case anyone's interested, here's how to rename categories: - Go to steam\userdata\8-digit number\7\remote - Open sharedconfig.vdf in a text editor - Do a find and replace for the category you want to rename That "7" might be a different number for other people, I don't know. Alternatively just do a search for "sharedconfig.vdf", there's only one file with that name.
I can't get steam to turn on... I click the exe and it says Steam is unavailable...Is it doing it to everyone else?
I love it. Think the header needs toning down though, its a bit in your face and takes up far too much real-estate.
It all works hunky-dory for me. Edit: King of page 2, suck it internet!
we stopped caring about page king post dial-up
Future rot doesn't work.
Why is the new ui so slow? It's getting to be annoying. Other than that, I have no problems with it.
I'm liking the UI except in chat windows the text looks really jagged; and I'm having a problem getting it to show icons for non steam games.
After only a day with it heres my pros and cons with it: Pros: *Nicer Looking, Really makes Steam look fresh and brand new. *Uses Webkit and that seems to have made the browser feel faster. *Love the addition of the News Button at the top. *Each steam game has a theme, thats a nice touch.(Even GMod has one, wonder who made it) Cons: *It seems to be a bit more resource hungry, I can feel a noticeable fps drop with this ui. *(Opinion) Don't like the new steam "new message" sound, want the old on back *Half the time the in-game overlay failed to launch. Overall I really like it. They should add a "classic option" for those who are fine with the current ui. And they need to need to change the "new message" back imo.
I really like this new UI, it gives steam a new shiny look. And I've noticed that I don't get as big FPS drops from using the ingame interface anymore (Could have something to do with them switching from trident to webkit)
They need to implement aero. Steam looks alright as it is, but it could be better.
I honestly think Steam should have an option to use the OS's interface. I don't care all that much about how it looks. I prefer consistency over custom theme only.
It ruins your COD:MW2 Multiplayer so that you have to download the entire 7GB again. It also erases HL2 saved games and does the MW2 thing to Company of Heroes expansion packs.
The important question is: Does it work with WINE?
The important question is: Does it work with WINE?
Just run a dual boot with Windows and Linux. Compatibility problems solved. Or whatever OS you're using Wine on.
It ruins your COD:MW2 Multiplayer so that you have to download the entire 7GB again.
Meh, I noticed that. However I was getting a 2.5+Mbs Download so it wasn't really a problem for me.
Meh, I noticed that. However I was getting a 2.5+Mbs Download so it wasn't really a problem for me.
But it matters a lot when your ISP has internet usage limits that you could go over at anytime.
Anyone get problems when buying something through the store? It restarts on me so I reverted to the original UI and it works fine.
I think it's a bad change. I don't see how making everything huge makes steam better (see games list, my current list is already 2 pages long, with having a full icon it'll be 30 pages or so). I think the new layout is making everything complicated. I like the simplicity of steam, just having Store Community Games next to each other. All I need.
But it matters a lot when your ISP has internet usage limits that you could go over at anytime.
That's true. Comcast limits me to 250Gb per month, which is still a huge amount of space.
