And a short time later comes the verge on their anti WP7 crusade claiming they have deep inner sources claiming it's a lie.
They already did. The Verge is such a huge joke of a technology website. They praise Android despite it's inefficient use of hardware and sloppy Java code, and they hate webOS and WP7 both of which have innovative designs, good code, and use the full potential of the hardware they're given. Hell my since retired palm pre with its measly 600MHz CPU was smoother than my Galaxy S was, and my Focus beats out any Android phone that we carry on Bell. [editline]18th April 2012[/editline] Oops forgot the article. I like how you basically predicted entirely what the article would be. http://www.theverge.com/2012/4/17/2956439/windows-phone-8-apollo-no-upgrade
Is the "Microsoft Evangelist" a reliable source? If so, I'd trust his opinion over some anonymous source that the Verge have grabbed out of nowhere. If pre-Windows 8 phones don't upgrade to Windows phone 8 when it's released, I might put off getting one and stick with my brick for a little bit longer.

However, Tango is the update to allow devices with 256MB of ram to run WP7, and I'd imagine putting out an update to allow devices that will never see an upgrade that releases like three months later would be a bad move on Microsoft's part.

(technically speaking they're all acting as if it's confirmed that they upgrade won't be happening). When android is by far the worst offender as far as upgrades go. And often enough the only way to update is to use a community made rom. Also loved how the verge reviewed an adroid handset just recently. Same resolution as the l900, but no Oled. And it get's a solid square eight as a display. Yeah totally not biased.
I'm curious, do you guys have issues opening up long email threads? I've posted elsewhere but didn't get any feedback so I may as well try here.

How long are we talking here? [editline]19th April 2012[/editline] Wow I just noticed the overscroll isn't just the bounce like it is on iOS. It squashes the text or the tile slightly when it gets pushed up or down. Man the OS has all these little touches that really shows how much polish went into it. It's too bad MS still has a lot of skeptics from the Windows Mobile days.
Works fine on my Focus. How long are we talking here?
About 40+ replies or so. On my Radar, it takes about a minute each time I open up the thread.
About 40+ replies or so. On my Radar, it takes about a minute each time I open up the thread.
Oh the max I usually get with somebody before forgetting to reply and sending a new email is like six to eight so I can't really help. Sorry.
So do we have a release date on any Windows 8 phones?
Aaaand more rumours to the rumour mill http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1607660 Nokia might be testing an apollo build on the l610
Is the HTC Titan worth it or the Lumia 900?
Is the HTC Titan worth it or the Lumia 900?
If you could use the giant screen, go for the Titan. Otherwise, Lumia 900.
I'd choose the Titan if you usually have issues typing on touchscreens, large screen=bigass keyboard... But the Lumia 900 is overall the best Windows Phone out there right now.
I hate typing on small touchscreens, I have an android that has a small ass screen and i find it a pain in the ass
Well the 800 is only a 3,7 but so far the best Ts keyboard I've used. Had issues with four inch droids. Though the iPhone is fairly good as well. But I do have fairly small hands compared to most of you I gather.
I hate typing on small touchscreens, I have an android that has a small ass screen and i find it a pain in the ass
the lumia 900 has a 4.2 inch screen I think, and you'll find the WP keyboard A LOT more pleasant to use than any android keyboard. The responsiveness is amazaing and the autocorrect system is a lot better. It has suggestions on the top of the keyboard that come really really handy. [editline]19th April 2012[/editline] Also, that Microsoft Evangelist guy has retracted, said he was confused about what he was asked about. So it looks like there won't be an update, at least for us with 1st gen devices. It'd be suicide if MS didn't update 2nd gen phones to apollo, and tests of windows phone 8 have been detected on the lumia 610 and the 800.

Considering the 610 will probably have lower specs (ram in the minimum) than some first gens.
I have a Nokia lumia 710, parents bought it as a surprise since I have had a shit flip phone up until now. I already love it.
Wait if I was to buy an American lumia 900 and use it on the Australian Optus Network (or telstra), would it work?
Wait if I was to buy an American lumia 900 and use it on the Australian Optus Network (or telstra), would it work?
I bought my focus flash from America and it works on the Optus network. Just make sure you keep in mind the usual stuff with the carrier locks and what not.

It's just a matter of checking if the device supports the band your carrier uses.
Just ordered a Lumia 800, anything worth to know before I get it?
Just ordered a Lumia 800, anything worth to know before I get it?
Good phone but text can look pretty bad.
How so?
Just ordered a Lumia 800, anything worth to know before I get it?
It possibly won't get the update to Windows Phone 8.
It possibly won't get the update to Windows Phone 8.
Now why is THAT?
Now why is THAT?
There's rumours flying both ways. Right now the current rumours are, that microsoft and nokia are testing wp8 on a number of lumia devices (including the 800) but until they have a seamless upgrade option, nothing will be announced.
the 900 will be updated right?
