Well how do i know if i have an am2 socket? And if i dont what can i do? I could get some money from places for the 20$ difference, but how much of a performance difference are we talking about between this http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16819103649 and that? [editline]01:22PM[/editline] Also my current graphics card is integrated, would that make a difference as to what graphics card i get and installation?
Control panel > Administrative tools > computer management > on the left side device manager > in the big box look for processor and tell me exactly what the name of it is also, for your motherboard, do you have this www.slo-tech.com/testi/plate01/agp_slot.jpg or this http://www.karbosguide.com/books/pcarchitecture/images/828.jpg if it's the second one its probably white or green. For the CPU, in the future you're talking about 4 seconds less boot time, maybe a few seconds less to open apps, less time to load games and programs, smoother video, etc.
2 Intel Core 2 Duo E7300 @2.66 GHz So in the long run for the cpu better fps, smoother (not choppy) video play quicker booting and loading of programs and os right? [editline]05:09PM[/editline] And will my graphics card being integrated make any difference with anything?
OK then I'd stick with that or go AMD, because intel processors are expensive as shit. And no as long as your PSU is powerful enough integrated GPU won't do shit.
the Studio line uses laptop parts, you can't convert them to desktops, you can reuse the HDD but it begins and ends there
the Studio line uses laptop parts, you can't convert them to desktops, you can reuse the HDD but it begins and ends there
Really? Whats the point of that? To look pretty and small?
Yeah its a studio slim. Could someone get a confirmation on JohnEdwards statement?

Ok thanks

I'm not familiar with AMD mobos, but, I think AM3 uses DDR3 ram.
So an AMD mobo? Any specific model?
So an AMD mobo? Any specific model?
Just make sure it says AM3 on it, as that is the socket CPU you are getting. This will work fine if your only using one GPU and it uses DDR2 ram: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813130237
