In machines and other devices that have large quantities of moving parts, banging on it will generally sort out whatever got stuck between the parts or whatever gears got jammed and have the device moving again. Even I managed to do that once. Windows disappeared. I realized that the instructions were for reading. It never happened again. (Then again I was fairly young when I did that, way younger than what Fatfatfatty was.)

But my laptop needed a reinstall of Windows 7 anyway. Thought, this happened last year. I'll never use the Server version again, much easier to remove the GUI on the normal version or use Debian.

It was arch for me. Fucked up my entire Windows partition because I didn't read the warning and decided that it could choose for me. Everything was gone. The next day I reinstalled windows and arch side-by-side and had no problems until the power supply died.

I didn't flip (well sorta I did, I got REALLY pissed at myself) but I learned from my mistake and just went on with it instead of being super defensive over it. I knew my fuckup was stupid. I was blindly clicking around and I didn't know what I was doing.

I managed to wipe my hdd [i]twice[/i] trying to install arch. I'm pretty sure that counts as a fuckup.

I do like Linux, and played around quite a bit with it, but I'm not quite ready for using it as a desktop OS yet, because of the games.
