I do know a lot of computers at schools have Deep Freeze so she was probably instructed by the schools IT that the computer had Deep Freeze on it so nothing would be saved when she turned the computer off.
Since she isn't particularly great with computers, she probably applied this advice to all the computers in the school. Not really illiteracy, just more of a misunderstanding.
