I've had a lot of annoying problems on my laptop running Vista.
I've had no problems with this computer also running Vista.
Although the first is 32 bit, this is 64. Dunno how much of a difference that'd make.
I used Vista once and I didn't like it. It was personal preference for me.
I ran Vista for two years, then I switched to 7 and have been running that for two years.
Vista gave me one (1) bluescreen, 7 gives me LOADS.
I won't switch back though, I mean, win7 is basically Vista SP4. (hint hint: version numbers)
I've heard a lot of problems coming from people using Vista on a laptop, but not nearly as many people complaining with a desktop also using Vista...
HMM.
I hate 7. It's exactly what people said vista was (The bad way I mean) I've had numorous bluescreens a multitude of device problems (not drivers) and many software faults I've only experienced in 7. However I like all the new features in 7 and don't want to lose all my software, which Is why I haven't gone back to vista, That and I don't know where my disc is. I have high hopes for win 8 though, Except this 3D desktop thing, Bleh. I'll just turn that off.

why laptops are better off with linux
unless they're macbooks
I still haven't tried 7. Sure, all the school computers have it installed but it's gimped so much it looks like XP. I don't really see what's the problem with Vista, I've been using it for like... 2 years? Not a single problem.
Most people I see hatin' on Vista say it's slow. When you ask them what their experience with Vista was, they always answer it was a a laptop bought around 2008. We didn't get Core 2 Duos before late '09 here so most of these laptops had shitty Celerons inside :frog:
The main problem with Linux and laptops is wireless card drivers, though it should get better with Broadcom joining the Linux foundation.

Lan parties ie. changing networks was always bad with windows. Vista was just god awful in that regard though.

I never had a problem with it, It's XP that sucked with dynamic DHCP.

Hell no. We always have to wait three hours for the one guy who still uses XP to set his computer up.
I'm not saying XP was good either; it sucked too. Windows 7 is ok, but it still has problems on wifi.
I love 7. On Vista I used to get a lot of crashes and other problems. On 7, I don't.
In my experience it's a lot more stable. Sorry about the problem's wingless.

I've had a good deal of bluescreens on with, but I really don't care much about it when it happens, as it's running good rest of the time. The only people I know that actually cares about bluescreen and such, is people that don't really understnad that the computer won't kill you afterwards. I search on the error code, but normally not much else.
I have had Win7 on my shool laptop and i haven´had any problems exept the rare instance of instable Wifi connection. But it eats a lot of RAM on a computer that has 2 gigs

This is the same case with me, although I don't have wifi at home, but my friends have complained.
I don't see why you complain about Bluscreens, they are there to save your Windows install from fucking up beyond repair, or your hardware from failing due to invalid instructions from the drivers. If you are Bluescreening figure out what is causing it instead of moaning. I've had my fair share over both XP, Vista and 7, but after a small bit of fucking around I stopped them for the most part.
My computer only bluescreens when it thermals out.

the only time i remember seeing a bsod besides the keybinding i made in my registry when i was dicking around with fork bombs is when i was using windows 98 - that computer was dying when i got it from my dad >.>
i just bought a WD caviar black 1tb hard drive today, the box said it had a 32mb cache.
...but the sticker on the drive itself says 64mb
and it was supposed to be a 3mbps drive according to the price tag but i dont think WD makes a 3mbps drive with 64mb cache
edit:
yep, its a 6gbps drive

Every single WD product I've ever bought has had little labeling errors like that.
It's really annoying.
Windows 7 is the best OS ever in my opinion...I also really like how it uses RAM. Yes, it does eat a lot of RAM, but the less RAM you have, the less it'll use. Even on this netbook with 1GB of RAM Windows runs pretty well
linux can run on 128mb of ram
try running 7 on that
[editline]25th January 2011[/editline]
actually it can run on less

Kinda content
Yea so.. I just went on my moms computer to Defrag it and wow.... almost 70% fragmentation! I feel sorry for that computer. PLUS Her boyfriend had like 10 Gigabytes of pirated movies and porn in the recycle Bin, I had to explain to him that because its in there does not mean its gone. I hate my moms side of the family's computer skills. But my dad knows quite a bit about computers.
