I don't even remember how it was like when I first had a PC. That was about 15 years ago.
I still haven't built my first computer. :(
Does she mean 'chip' the way I think she does?
Okay, remember the girl I mentioned a while back who said she was gonna get a pc that would get her a fucking great latency? You know what she also said?
"Yeah, it's got a great GPU in it"
"Oh, nice. Which one?"
"I don't remember but it'll let me play WoW on ultra"

Seriously, my 3 year old 8800GT can play WoW on ultra!
You've played since cataclysm? My brothers 9800 GTX can't run WoW on Ultra.
took me a lot longer than 45 minutes to build my first pc :'(
my first computer took about an hour, I'm down to about 30 minutes depending on what parts I've got.
Same reason Macs are bad.
Overpriced.
Overstylized.
Overrated.

Except Macs have bad hardware too.
Recycle your god dam shit people...
im thinking of taking my old power supply apart 1st and learning what's inside ( I love to take stuff apart.... but don't ask me to put it back together right the 1st time....)
I built mine in about an hour. If a friend wants me to build them a computer, I usually take a little longer than that to be extra careful and to do some cable management. Plus I try to explain what I'm doing, maybe get them to do things like plug in power cords or install the optical drive and hard drive.

Don't take apart the PSU, the capacitors in there could be dangerous even after it's unplugged.
capacitors will rape and pillage your family

Had one exploding up in my face just a week ago.

They can still hold a charge. Just be careful with it.

Ugh, not this again.
Its okay as long as you discharge it. My preferred to way is to get a paper clip and make each end touch each contact on the capacitor. :downs:
But seriously, its fine as long as you take proper precautions. If you don't know what something does or if it could have a charge, DON'T TOUCH IT.
My first build took 3 hours. God dam Stand-offs my case came with 3 sizes, 3 kinds of screws that fit into the harddrive enclosure and then I realised the harddrive screws were the ones screwed into the side and you have to take them out and use those. FFS SO MANY SCREWS WHAT THE HELL DO I DO!
Finally I just said fuck it and used whatever fitted and the hell with how it looks.

My first build took 30 minutes but wouldn't turn on. Took like 6 hours taking the damn thing apart and putting it back together before I realized the power strip was not giving it enough power that it needed.

700th post :hehe:
Our IT class computers have 4 GB of RAM, C2D E8400 3GHz, NVidia Quadro FX 1500.
They run at 1024x768 on 19 inch monitors; We learn Word (with 1996 books).
Could I send you one E5200 so you could send a E8400 back? Please?
Wait. Why are there so many schools what have monitor res as 1024x768?
Mine has. But that is because it is a small monitor.
Seriously, so much overkill.
Friend of mine calling Dell Tech Support a while ago, "If I go from Windows XP to Windows 7, what would be the downsides?"
Support, "You won't be able to use the 64-bit hardware, if you have any, sir."
From that moment on, my friend makes prank calls to Dell Tech Support indefinitely just because of that stupid statement.
Haha.. Oh lol.
Huh.
Going to sleep now. I need to get a twitter acc. .

What the fuck?
Sure, we have one computer class with 14 Macs, but in the other class we have another 20 like Celerons or whatever.
I have an Aurora 7500 I bought two years ago.
I've never had to upgrade it, never had to fuck around and reformat it, never had any real problems with it. I know everyone hates them because they're overpriced and a little over-the-top, but hey, if you can afford one, go for it. Otherwise don't be a crybaby.
tl;dr
They are worth the money because they are fucking built for gaming. Simple as that.
Reminds me of the 2000$ Alienware PC I saw that had a 9800GT in it for some reason.

I don't get this. That's like saying Macs are worth the money because they are made for art :downs:

Well, I only got TBC, probably gonna get WOTL and Cataclysm when I get paid.
Fuck you MacTrekkie!
