A bit of not-quite-content; Minecraft crashed on me and when I opened taskmanager to kill the "javaw.exe" process the list scrolled and I instead killed the "lsass.exe" process. This immediately resulted in a window telling me to save all unsaved work as windows would restart in a minute, which I did not want it to seeing as I was in the middle of recompiling the kernel of a virtual machine. I first ran a "shutdown -a" but that only told me that it was a system initialized shutdown, which led me to finding the process hosting the window and killing that. It was fine for another twenty or so seconds before my computer died, no other way to describe it. No BSOD, no error message, it just acted like I'd hard-reset it. Ever since "dllhost.exe", "runtime32.dll" and "COM Surrogate" keep spamming errors and crashing on me, which in turn lowers the time 'till my next reinstall considerably. TL;DR: Don't fuck with windows, it will fuck your shit up.
brb trying that
2 girls are discussing about how videogames make you more violent. I really'd like to tell her to present actual proof to her opinion.
Please do, I´d like to hear their arguments. Especially now with the No Russian thing
Don't close processes you don't know about!

Just been on a live chat with some VPS company. What a disgrace. [editline]28th January 2011[/editline] Who the fuck is Angela :S
The fuck [editline]28th January 2011[/editline] also, I replied to this thread and was sent back in time to page 76

Today I was in my IT functional skills class which is a load of bullshit since it's basically 'How to turn the computer on' and 'how to crop a picture in word', I don't see why I have to take it considering I'm taking AS Computing. Since I had finished all the work 40 mins early and I was bored, I gave Kim Jong Il a very detailed mustache in photoshop. My teacher noticed and opened my screen up on the remote desktop viewer, and I told my friends to spam the teacher-student chat thing causing her computer to freeze. The end result was that my picture of the Glorious Leader's facial attire was frozen upon the ~70 inch projector screen at the front of the classroom.
this made me lol [editline]28th January 2011[/editline] im probably late though
I still have no idea what is wrong with my ATi drivers, you try and group your monitors into going to eyefinity mode, then one of the screens goes to 640 x 480, the control panel all gets greyed out and disappears due to it now being off screen of the only enabled 640 x 480 screen. I then try to have it just in extended mode with 2 of the monitors rotated, guess what 2 640 x 480 resolutions now on 2 out of three of the monitors, you try and do detect display and they all flash like hell. Oh and if the computer goes into sleep mode, no matter what mode you are in, 640 x 480 resolutions appears. :saddowns: This happens on my current 5850, and my previous 5770, and on multiple clean installs, dammit if it wasn't for ATi being the only one with a GPU that supports 3 screens off one card I would switch back over to nvidia.

I once accidently removed the whole HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT instead of a single key. Oh god it was silly after a reebot.
And God said: "Let there be page 96!" [editline]28th January 2011[/editline] Wat? OH well, another proof that god doesn't exist
Page Fix, also Content [editline]28th January 2011[/editline] Those girls discussing violent video games were actually against that idea. I want their numbers now. [editline]28th January 2011[/editline] Also, bad programming on HP's part: The update program said this to me.
This program is not compatible with your system. Your System: EliteBook2740P You require this system (EliteBook 2740P). Uninstall this program and install one intended for your computer
:wtc: The ironic part is this update fixes this, but why was it an issue in the first place?
page 96 be here
In my experience, every computer class I have ever been in completely fell short of expectations but I am 15 so
College/ Uni level courses aren't so bad really. I've been doing IT for Practitioners BTEC National Diploma for the past year and a bit (I finish this year). And it has only disappointed me in the amount of reports we make. The programming was good, we are doing game design this year, but haven't reached the programming yet. The networking is pretty good.

We have no photoshop, so we design cereal boxes in Microsoft Word powerpoint. No, just kidding. OpenOffice Powerpoint.

I did. It works. I think the most important part was that you must not masturbate. First time I think I failed because of that.

Why not talk to the higher up at your school and see if they can get that installed? It's free after all.
In my experience, every computer class I have ever been in completely fell short of expectations but I am 15 so
My AS Computing class is great, we do programming in Delphi (old language but a good basis to start from) and my teacher knows her shit, and I get to sit with the only two other guys in my year who are fully computer literate. We have some online notepad set up which we help each other with the programming challenges if we are not near each other :v: Also for my AS computing classroom my school spent like £20k on iMacs which are only used for Windows XP, at least we get the best computers in the school (as specifications go) I guess. However in my Functional skills class were taught by an illiterate bitch (she doesn't even know how to use the control software properly in order to block access to the internet) and gives us work even the biggest illiterate in my class can breeze through.
From RingWorks, I laughed so hard:
A support representative friend of mine came up to me one day and said that he thought he had done something wrong. He had been walking a novice Mac user through rebuilding her desktop. She tiresomely questioned every direction the technician made. After half an hour of patiently talking her through what should have been a one minute process, she finally stated, "Oh! Now it says, 'Are you sure you want to rebuild the desktop on the disk XXX?'"

Tech Support: "Ok--"
Customer: "Oh, now there's something like a spinning barber pole on the screen."
Tech Support: "You didn't press 'OK' did you?"
Customer: "Yes. You said 'OK'."
Tech Support: (acting alarmed) "I just said 'Ok,' I didn't mean for you to press 'OK'!"
Customer: (panicking) "What should I do now?"
Tech Support: "Run! Get out of there! Run! Run!"
The next thing he heard was the phone hitting the floor, the sound of rapidly retreating footsteps, and a door slam. After numerous calls over the course of an hour, the customer finally answered the phone. She had waited outside for an hour -- when the computer didn't explode, she went back inside and unplugged it.
Oh wow
snip, fp messed up
