that guy I know who claimed to build a $200 water cooled laptop told me today he modded his hard drive to store 300 gigabytes of data instead of "the usual 160".
I almost laughed but then I felt sorry because he thinks 300 GB is a lot
I once had 300 GB of porn only.

I still prefer mandarin orange but hey whatever boats your float.
How can he possibly think that even 160GB is normal? I mean, even my netbook has that...

Speaking of my netbook, It took 15 minutes to install Windows 7, dayum.

The comment page confuses me. Oh how I loathe the Youtube comment system...
Probably not computer illiteracy per se but fucking retarded nonetheless:
After recently starting WoW, I got my brother in a trial and he decided he wanted it. Since I was going into town with a friend, I figured I might as well try and surprise him by getting the base game at least. I eventually got all except WotLK but the weird part is when I tried to get Cataclysm.
I walk into a store that had it on their website for 15 euros. I see it on the shelves for 27. I go over to the clerk and ask why. He gets on a computer, goes to their webshop and looks it up. Lo and behold, the search results show it as 15. The actual product page however shows it as 30. He probably was just as perplexed as I was, only saying 'well, at least it'll be cheaper if you get it right now while you're here'.
Seriously, how incompetent are these people?

Speaking of my netbook, It took 15 minutes to install Windows 7, dayum.
My brother, when he has to re-install windows, has to install Vista first, fully update it and THEN upgrade to 7. Last time he had to do it, he got so frustrated at how long it took to install and update Vista, he actually said 'Fucking Vista, time to go Usain Bolt on your ass!' before starting his 7 upgrade.
Surprise surprise, he's getting a full copy of Windows 7 sometime soon.
I once had 300 GB of porn only.
I filled a 2TB hard drive with porn, for 3 good reasons.
1. To test my new internet connection's download speed (It hit 6.1MB/s)
2. To test my new hard drive's speed when full
3. It's porn, it's good enough reason as it is. :smug:

I once walked in to a GameStop and saw that they had the Metroid Prime trilogy for €49. I thought that was a little expensive, so I looked on the Preowned shelf. There was one there as well, but for €59.
I asked the clerk, and he said it was supposed to be like that. When I asked him why, he asked me to leave.

I find the bolded strange. Because when I reinstall Windows, I have to go Vista then 7, but I don't have to update Vista.
Main reason I go Vista then 7 is because I have Win7 in an MSDN ISO, and I have no DVD writer or blank discs. (and I know they're $20, I just can't be assed to buy one at the moment.)

OS X is worse. It yells at you every time with an annoying focus-grabbing alert window.
In windows I always check optimise for quick removal, provided the access light isn't flashing, I can remove it without worry.
I have never ever lost any data by plugging a flash drive, even when plugged the very second after it's done writing data over.
enjoy your data loss
I've actually never suffered data loss even though I've always just pulled it out for years
I always pull it out after the light stops blinking
I donkey punch her then pull out.
I always pull it out.
Now 50 MB takes around 30 minutes to copy over.
Obviously you won't lose data once it's done writing, but sometimes Windows likes to take a 3-4 seconds break between write sessions so it may seem like it's done on the flash drive light when in fact, it's not.

If the progress bar on the screen is gone I pull it out, my flash drive doesn't have a light on it, but my old one does

Also, for some content:
I was just watching Law and Order and a girl says something about her roommate's computer, so the cop goes over, looks at it, and said "24 gig hard drive, this is state of the art stuff, and expensive". The episode is from last year.
FUCK!!!
I just accidentally deleted EVERYTHING from my netbook! Not that I had anything important on it, but it will be a fucking pain in the fucking ass to reinstall everything and what not.
How the fuck did this happen? Well I was trying to dual boot with XP and Windows 7, so I followed this guide: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/8057-dual-boot-installation-windows-7-xp.html
I did everything it told me to but when I went to install XP it wouldn't let me install onto the partition I had made for it. I then thought "hmm" and rebooted the computer so I could recheck everything in W7. Well guess what? Windows 7 wouldn't boot. I then looked through the guide and tried the tip that said I could repair the bootloader with the Windows 7 install disc. I tried, but "bootrec /fixboot" returned an error saying that the C: drive was an unrecognized format. At this point I tried using the "dir" command on the C: drive. Everything was there, and the filetype was NTFS like always. Why the fixboot command couldn't read it is still a mystery. After some time of frustration I thought fuck it and went and tried installing XP again. It was the same as before of course. I then saw a partition that was 1MB which Windows would install on if it was bigger. I then deleted that partition so I could expand it by deleting the other partition I originally made for XP. Well, I went ahead and deleted the 1MB drive and then BAM! Everything was gone.

I had the same happen to me once, save for being told to leave. Went to get Forza 3, used it was $60, and a new copy was nowhere to be found. Save for the one bundled with Halo ODST, for $50 total. I asked the clerk if it was for real, and they're like yep, no idea why though.
Moral of the story, don't ask questions when good things happen.
So today in photography, the teacher was gone so the substitute was instructed to show us some video that I didn't really pay attention to (because frankly, I don't give a rat's ass about the class). The DVD player seemed busted so the substitute and the assistant teacher tried to play it one one of their Macs.
First up, they couldn't even get the damn projector to turn on and couldn't find the power button on the projector (which was mounted to the ceiling), so someone finally pointed out that there was a remote for it. They turned the projector on. White screen. They couldn't figure out what was wrong, then someone turned the computer on and it was working.
Tried to put the DVD in but they couldn't find how to open the drive. Looked all around the computer and finally found the blindingly obvious button. Put it in, pulled up a movie player, and it started playing itself with no sound. They found a speaker (which for some reason was a radio, CD player, and speaker all in one). It kept playing static and they kept pressing buttons but it kept playing more static and sometimes some inaudible noise. Assistant called the teacher who was busy, and the teacher gave out a pile of instructions (such as changing the channel and pressing unrelated buttons) when there was a single button to change the mode that was so fucking obvious. Took them 10 minutes to sort it out.
And the most hilarious part: they restarted the DVD, and it went back on the menu. She thought it wasn't playing even though you had to press "Select" on the little remote-like menu on the bottom to click the DVD menu's "Play Video" button. Thinking it was frozen, she ejected the DVD and reinserted it 20 goddamn times and kept pressing the play and rewind buttons on the DVD remote menu. She was about to call the teacher again but then finally randomly pressed the Select button and it started to work.
As soon as the video started, they lost sound again. Had it sorted out in about 5 minutes though.
There was only 10 minutes of class left after this.

I would presume that Gamestop may actually hide some of the newer copies, as they gain a majority of their income on used game sales. They buy it for about ten dollars, then sell it for fifty. If they were to run out of old, they could put the new ones out.
