Once on XP when I just removed the drive, the computer bluescreened.
Has never repeated itself on XP, nor on 7.
I just hooked up a floppy drive to get some old backups of my website (and I mean old, this shit is old enough that I actually actively used a floppy drive when I made them)
got a CRC error trying to get rid of a corrupted file
I would presume that Gamestop may actually hide some of the newer copies, as they gain a majority of their income on used game sales. They buy it for about ten dollars, then sell it for fifty. If they were to run out of old, they could put the new ones out.
Well that'd be a smart business tactic on their part. Shit one on our end though.
buy a copy of windows 7

Steam :frogc00l:

Some people like physical copies of games, but if stores are closed, it's very useful.
Unless the Valve office has a blackout.

What do you think the Backup Games feature is?
Some people like physical copies of games, but if stores are closed, it's very useful.

Physical copies are nice, but Steam is so damn convenient. I don't even need to bother putting in the cd, running setup, next, next, next agree, finish, and then patch the game. Relatively those steps arent that bothersome, but with Steam you just hit "Download Game"
Steam :frogc00l:
then you have to wait for your 8-15 gb game to download
Unless the Valve office has a blackout.
Do you seriously think a large software corporation like Valve don't have backup generators?
then you have to wait for your 8-15 gb game to download
What the fuck games are 15 gigs? The biggest game I have, The Last Remnant, is just under 12 gigs. Quite a few are well below 8 GB, especially the older or more indie games.

They have multiple sites across the globe. Valve HQ could be obliterated by nuclear war, and Steam would stay up.

You have to walk home :colbert:

GTA IV without expansions is 16 gigs.
I just brought Dragon Age Origins Ultimate edition, 24 goddamn gigs, and of course, it isn't hosted in Australia, meaning it will count to my bandwidth cap (which is 60 GB).
You have to walk home :colbert:
My internet connection is so slow it took ~8 hours to download some of my larger games and it takes me 2 hours if I were to walk to and back home from the local gamestop
Downloading the games are the only hassle. It's slower than driving to the store but loads faster than standard shipping.
However, if you make impulse buys at 2 AM they are usually done before you wake up :v:

You have a 100+Mbps line? How much do you pay for that
Jesus fucking christ, I thought installing Java on Fedora was a bitch, I'm trying to do it on CentOS now.
Damn you Oracle and your not wget friendly download links! I can't fucking use curl :argh:
Anyone has a direct link to "jdk-6u23-linux-i586-rpm.bin" so I can finally stop raging?
[editline]...[/editline]
Yum did the trick, but now it says there's not enough memory to start the VM. Oracle :argh:
I find the bolded strange. Because when I reinstall Windows, I have to go Vista then 7, but I don't have to update Vista.
Main reason I go Vista then 7 is because I have Win7 in an MSDN ISO, and I have no DVD writer or blank discs. (and I know they're $20, I just can't be assed to buy one at the moment.)
But do you have an upgrade copy or a full version?

I'm actually upgrading to a 100 Mbit line sometime today/tomorrow. That + phone + TV for 66,50 euros a month.
Started school today, had IT.
The class is full of retards. The kid two seats across from me inverted the screen colours (we were all using iMacs) and started going on about how he'd ace the class and he was so skilled because he "hacked into the lens of the screen".
Luckily, the teacher is awesome and says he'll let me do other stuff in class.

Here it's $90 for a 90/90Mbit :frown:
Where in the world are you?
