Is it even possible for your ISP to limit P2P transfers on a single client? I'm trying to download well seeded stuff (OpenOffice, Debian, Ubuntu) and it won't go over 30 Kbytes/s :colbert:

[editline]2nd February 2011[/editline] The problem might be on your side though, did you forward the ports correctly?
Just got on, sorry.

[editline]2nd February 2011[/editline] The problem might be on your side though, did you forward the ports correctly?[/QUOTE] Yes my ports are forwarded perfectly, in fact, so many of them are open I feel like I'm some kind of hacker bait. My question was if ISPs could do it on an individual basis, I know some of them throttle the shit out of P2P downloads but my "friend" who is on the same ISP doesn't have any problems with P2P.

You most likely reached your monthly bandwidth cap. Also, keep in mind that P2P is not a simple server-to-client connection. There are many variables that can change your upload speed - you are uploading to many who are downloading from many (this sounds dumb).
I recently lent my copy of The Orange Box so he could install it on his PC. On Monday he gave it back saying it wouldn't work. It turns out he was trying to install it on his Xbox 360. He said "Because Microsoft made my computer and my Xbox, the game should work with both right? :downs:"

I live in Ohio. I'd do a speed/ping test but I'm on my netbook because I don't want the power to go off from ice on the lines/downed by trees covered in ice while using my desktop so I turned it off. I. Hate. Winter.

[QUOTE=Latency;27801559]I usually don't care about this kind of stuff, but my roommate started going out of his way to tell me that his xbox is immeasurably better than my computer. He found me playing Minecraft a few days ago. Apparently my computer is shit because minecraft doesn't look as nice as... halo reach... Out of nowhere he asked me how much hard drive space I had, 1 terabyte. He says that terabyte hard drives make games run slower because the "cpu has to look through all the data on the hard drive, and find the exact info needed every time it wants to pull a bit from it". He literally thinks that having a 20gb hard drive on his xbox makes it faster and makes games look nicer "because it can pull the graphics faster". I tried showing him that my computer is actually more capable than his xbox by just showing him my framerate in Fallout New Vegas at max settings, at a higher resolution than his TV. He insisted that the xbox used higher settings. His reason was that "the edges of things are way too smooth, on xbox they look more crisp". He's talking about my AA being on so high. He also thinks graphics cards are useless because "the xbox doesn't need one". :sigh: It sucks though, cause he doesn't say this stuff aggressively. He just says it like he's trying to teach me. So fucking frustrating. [editline]1st February 2011[/editline] What's even more annoying is when V-sync doesn't detect your refresh rate. Like in Dead Space 2, V-sync caps it at 30. What if you have a refresh rate that's not a multiple of 30?[/QUOTE] Show him texture pop on Gears of war on Xbox and the lack of on PC.
Reposting because it got eaten up by ISP speed tests... Dicking around looking at PCI and AGP graphics cards on Newegg and come across this GeForce 2 MX400. It has the highest rating of all the PCI cards so I read the reviews. from [url]http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814139151[/url] [quote= moronic newegg reviewer]Pros: Has the capabiliy of displaying today's games in good enough quality that it does not make my eyes bleed. Halo is a good example, although this card doesnt compare to my GeForce 5500 in my other comp, which btw is XBox quality, this card renders the 3D surroundings and textured to a high enough level that the game environment looks like an environment, not a bunch of white blocks w/ black outlines that the Intel integrated graphics this replaced put out. Having S-Video out and Composite out definitely help for a good emprovised home theater (6 channel sound card, 2 stereos, TV as center, old car sub on a 500w amp connected w/ 3 different adapters (lol) to comp) Also, when getting drivers do not use the disk, goto nvidia.com and download the GeForce drivers, the Forceware software, and the nTune software. This combo allows for advanced multiple display/TV config, ocerclocking, and much more neat stuff. NVIDIA PWNS!!! AND SO DOES NEWEGG FOR GETTING IT HERE IN 2 DAYS! Cons: Kinda outdated, but works great in my old Dell Dimension L866r Other Thoughts: Comp Specs: Pentium 3 866mhz Intel mobo w/ 4 PCI slots and no AGP (hence why i got this card) 192MB RAM (don't laugh I'm working on getting more) Surround sound card on the way Overall works great for a secondary comp so I can pwn friends in duels If you are looking for a cheap yet effective gfx card for a comp w/o an AGP slot get this and avoid A-T-I because their drivers R teh suxx0rz[/quote] "XBox quality" :eng99: "nVidia pwns" :smithicide: "avoid A-T-I because their drivers R teh suxx0rz" :suicide:

"Why would you play on PC if you've got the crappy keyboard lay-out." Kid, talking to me about PC gaming. He's in my grade but all his classes are below mine.

[editline]2nd February 2011[/editline] The Xbox fan-boys who are computer illiterate piss me off a-lot. It's a good thing I know their weakness reverse computer illiteracy "my Xbox looks way better then your computer", "how can it when it only has 512mb of ram?". Right there raped. "Did you know that the gpu in the 360 is 500mhz?" "My gpu is 1296mhz bitch" So satisfying dropping shit like that.
