My AP Comp Sci teacher was telling us about how the .gif format was originally pronounced like "jif" by compuserve, the guys who made the format.
I just looked it up. Apparently they did, but both pronunciations are considered correct by the Oxford English Dictionary, and they also used that pronunciation to spoof JIF peanut butter commercials, "Choosy developers choose GIF"

Similarly, the company that originally invented SCSI wanted it to be pronounced "sexy". Of course, "scuzzy" became the standard pronunciation, as it would be rather awkward otherwise ("hey, can I plug into your sexy interface?").

IIRC it's more toxic than flammable, but still... it should just be common knowledge that the stuff inside of batteries is dangerous (unless it's a 9v, then you got yourself 6 AAAA's. Some brands also have CR20xx batteries inside of C and D batteries.)
