They should put people who actually know what they're doing in front of the tech stuff instead of business guys whose only experience with computers is telling the assistant to make a spreadsheet.
Most of the CRTC staff are actually people who worked at telecom companies :saddowns: I guess this Konrad von flalsksadkjasdein is just a twat who still lives in the 80s where a 25 GB cap would be like a 25 petabyte cap today. Almost forgot, :canada:
Also on that test, it was open note (yes we actually have to take notes on this crap) and "open google". The teacher let us use google. And still almost everyone failed. I didn't have to use google or the notes
Let me guess, it was more like open Facebook.
Let me guess, it was more like open Facebook.
lol we hv to take ths test on teh internet! omg are we ever gonna use ths stuff?
[img_thumb]http://www.speedtest.net/result/1141820681.png[/img_thumb] God Help My Soul, why the hell is this so slow
Stop. Just... stop. [editline]3rd February 2011[/editline] Why do these threads always end up with 2-4 pages spammed with SpeedTest results :froggonk:
I could just use a speed-limiter or anything else that slows it down enough and get 0.01 Mb/s on both.
Let me guess, it was more like open Facebook.
I would think so since they all failed

In my class, all you have to do is type an assignment a week and watch him teach you how to make tables in word. Some kids failed that class. You don't get graded on the WPM. You get graded on weather you do it or not. [editline]3rd February 2011[/editline] Versions 1 - 5 Were great. V6 was mandrith. V7 was mandrith and no stock. v8 is mandrith is fake, speed tests, and strawberries. WHAT HAS THE WORLD COME TO? Also, Windows is strawberry: http://strawberryperl.com/
Seriously, what people are in that class?
The teacher is illiterate, along with everyone else in that class. A person next to me called over the teacher to ask how to type the S key because "this keyboard didn't come with one" (aka she doesn't know where the keys are and didn't see the S key)
In my web class we had our first test. It was simple things like "What is the difference between a web browser and a search engine?", "What is the name of the browser that Google has created?", etc. so of course I got a 100% on it. Then I found out that out of the 40 students, only 7 had passed, including me.
My computers class (which is mandatory for 2 semesters) uses information from a textbook from 2008.
My mom has been on the phone with her business partner for the past 3 hours. They have both been teaching each other how to use Office 2010. For 3 hours. They're still on the thing they started with, Powerpoint.
My computers class (which is mandatory for 2 semesters) uses information from a textbook from 2008.
So? Atleast it's not from Kansas.

Right!? :ohdear:
My computers class (which is mandatory for 2 semesters) uses information from a textbook from 2008.
Lucky bastard, I'm used to books that are at least 5 years old (most where even older).
Do you have any audio professionals in H&S? I am looking to buy some audio equipment, and want some pointers.
My computers class (which is mandatory for 2 semesters) uses information from a textbook from 2008.
One of my current classes is "Windows Server Administration". It covers basic network admin stuff - setting up a domain controller, user authentication, blah blah blah. Guess which versions of Windows it covers. 7? Nope. Vista? Nope. Server 2008? Nope. We're using Windows XP and Server 2003. While that's sort-of excusable (many businesses still use XP/2003), some of the questions in the book are not. For instance (paraphrasing): "Which of the following operating systems can be upgraded to Windows XP (circle all that apply): Windows 2000 Windows 98 Windows 3.1 OS/2 Linux MS-DOS" Not to mention the whole series of "does a computer with 64/128/256 MB of RAM meet the minimum/recommended requirements for Windows XP?" that I had to answer.
In the 7th grade, my IT teacher started the first IT class on the keyboard layout. Everyone said that they knew it. A few classes later the teacher has handed out test papers, and we had to fill in the blank keys on a drawing. I was the only one who didn't fail the test. For instance, the company my mother works at still uses Win98 in the billing department, because the software they use is only compatible with Win98.
One of my friends thought he was special because he had "Windows 7 Ultimate x86 bit". After a few minutes of arguing, and me saying x86 means he has 32 bit, I gave him a wikipedia article, and he was satisfied. I wish I had thought of that at the beginning. :saddowns:

Some of the other people that have been talked about on this thread would have said something about Wikipedia not being a credible academic source or whatever, and continued believing x86 was not 32 bit.

My friend's dad has been working in IT for something like 15 years. His son wanted some upgrades for his computer. He has a PCI-e 1.0 slot, I suggest him something like a 4850 or a GTS250 since it fits perfectly in his budget. He calls me back the next day saying his dad told him the card wouldn't fit. I argued with his dad for about 20 minutes about how PCI-e 2.0 was retrocompatible with PCI-e 1.0. I showed him Wikipedia, he said it couldn't be trusted. I found more sources including a FAQ from the guys making the PCI-e protocol. He still didn't believe me :smithicide:

Plus, my school actually has upgraded everything to 7 - we run XP and 2003 in VMWare.
One of my friends thought he was special because he had "Windows 7 Ultimate x86 bit". He told us that copyrights must be registered in order to have any validity. I contradicted him, and brought up the text of the Berne Convention of 1886, an international treaty, and the Berne Convention Implementation Act of 1988, which made the terms of the treaty legally binding in the US. He said that didn't count as evidence, on the grounds that [del]he couldn't understand it[/del] it did not specifically state "works do not have to be registered to be protected by copyright". I then brought up the Wikipedia page for "copyright registration". He accepted that as proof.

This was NOT my status. Also, the people who liked it were the ones who are generally reserved about things they aren't certain of, meaning they probably wouldn't fall into the category of content for this thread.
you know what'd be really sweet?, if I was a skilled enough software engineer, to figure out how to turn my dell inspiron on, god I hate this laptop. Expect that's a hardware issue It won't turn on, that could be anything
Facepalm then I decided not to comment because of it. Seems he spilled vodka on it.
If I could only learn to program... -_-
CIPWTTKTAGC v9: Windows is a strawberry. Really, it has to be this.
Wow, I realy didn't think it was that funny when I typed it.
If I could only learn to program... -_-
What language are you trying to pick up?
