[img_thumb]http://cl.ly/3qIO/Screen_shot_2011-01-02_at_19.59.52.png[/img_thumb] Not too hard. [editline]2nd January 2011[/editline] It's enough for most people. It's not like it's impossible to install Windows on it.
I have the sudden urge to want to click everything on there and play about with everything.
Jumping on the multiboot wagon, I have HDD's for Windows 7, OS 10.6, and Arch. I mainly reside in Windows 7 as that's where I can get the most shit done.
Sends 110V down your ethernet port
My god, we've finally worked out how to do 110BaseT! A little late considering we can already do 1000 but still, 10 more BaseT's!
[img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3659637/fpdrama/OS.png[/img_thumb] Yes I know I need to update Ubuntu.. (old old laptop)
sudo apt-get install update-manager-core; sudo do-release-upgrade you might need to edit /etc/update-manager/release-upgrades in nano and set Prompt=normal
[img_thumb]http://cl.ly/3qIO/Screen_shot_2011-01-02_at_19.59.52.png[/img_thumb]
what the fuck where was that Probably somewhere stupid that I just didn't look in...
if they can do that they can get steam on linux
That has an even smaller userbase, does the effort of doing that actualy make sense when you consider how many more customers it will bring?
Technically they can convert them easily to Linux now. [img_thumb]http://dl.dropbox.com/u/3659637/fpdrama/OS.png[/img_thumb] Yes I know I need to update Ubuntu.. (old old laptop)
Wouldn't be difficult if you don't want to burn a disc. Just sudo apt-get upgrade and when it finishes, sudo apt-get distupgrade Not sure if it will let you go from 9.04 to 10.10 though, and I hear rumors that distupgrade makes Ubuntu act strange. But it's doable. Aww, I wanted an automerge
what the fuck where was that Probably somewhere stupid that I just didn't look in...
Applications > System Preferences...?
Effort of what? Changing compile mode? All the code is already there from the Mac so why is it so hard to compile it for Linux?
Implying getting steam to work on linux would only require changing the compile mode
Awesome it's updating now. Didn't have to set Prompt either.
As I'm pretty sure dist upgrades come with kernel updates, you'll want to reboot as soon as it's done.
There we go, "windows". Windows has a wide selection of games, office utilities, tools, graphic design packages, software synthesizers, drum machines and music trackers. You need to boot into windows to play games because OS X simply cant, which proves my point.
you need to boot into Mac OS to use Mac-specific stuff too. [editline]2nd January 2011[/editline]
what the fuck where was that Probably somewhere stupid that I just didn't look in...
[editline]2nd January 2011[/editline] like the dock
The only possible advantage I can think of on a Mac is the ability to run Logic, which there are plently of alternatives to on Windows which do just about the same thing, they load up VST's. Oh, and trying to get an application onto the iPhone.
Let's not forget Final Cunt Pro
Sony Vegas. I am going to admit to you now, I have used a windows PC since I was 3, I consider OS X's UI completely backwards to what I'm used to.
also to those who are saying "implying that you only need to change the compile mode" that is probably all they need to do, because osx is based off of freebsd which is based off of unix, which is also what linux is based off of, so the worst they would need to do is change it around a bit before changing the compile mode
Let's not forget Final Cunt Pro
That's paid software, and there's an equilant for it. What's better is opinion.

Linux has quite a few differences, especially in the GUI library. While it is true to say that "Valve could port their stuff to Linux now easily", that isn't the same as "Valve just needs to recompile on Linux for it to work". I'd estimate that one employee could finish the port in a week. Now, the real question for Valve is "is it worth it"? Would the time spent porting their games and Steam to Linux, and the time spent supporting it, bring in enough new money to justify the expense? I personally would say that it is, but I'm probably biased.
Sony Vegas. Now I rock OS X. And I love it. And Vegas is a pile of rubbish. [editline]2nd January 2011[/editline] Well, Premiere is where I have experience. And I've used Vegas. I didn't like it. My sister just found out the reason why you can't switch the discs for a console while the game from the first disc is still running.
My sister just found out the reason why you can't switch the discs for a console while the game from the first disc is still running.
I can do it on my PS2 and my gamecube. Until the game has to load more assets.
