You get a version of iLife with each Mac purchase. The cost is usually to upgrade that.

Reading the last few pages made me feel dumb for only ever using windows, and the odd mac in my life but nothing serious, so when you guys talk about sudo apt-get or whatever it is in regards to linux, it feels I should know it but I don't.

Anyway, semi-content. Once back in 2007, me and a few friends went onto this empty swedish BF2 server to fuck around in. One of my friends said the server specifications were "sick". I was so damn tempted to ask if the server had an 8800GTX. Luckily I didn't, but I still feel dumb.

The idea isn't to have every OS under the sun, it's to have enough to do everything and reap the benefits of each one.

Of course if you can do something with any other OSes that you can't with that setup, then installing them is fine.
