My akasa card reader is pretty nice
It just sits in a 3.5" bay
Thinking of overclocking my 2.4, first timer, whats a good level to aim for? 3.1-ish?
[editline]3rd January 2011[/editline]
Also, would anyone be kind enough to link me to a good guide?

Depends what "your 2.4" actually refers to.
There are so many processors with that as their default speed that it would be pointless to speculate how much that you should aim for without more information about the model and manufacturer, etc.

2.2, my bad.

[del]Do it in small steps, after raising always check it's stability using Prime95. Don't mess with the voltage levels. 2.4 to 3.1 is a quite big step.[/del]
Intel Pentium D won't get you anywhere.
Playing Uplink, IP addresses go up to 999.999.999.999, It's irritating me, can't find any mods that fix it. :saddowns:

In that case, I'll just wait. I'm not that experienced with processors anyway.

That isn't a Pentium D, its based of Core architecture. I have an E5300 with is classified as a Pentium dual core, it has less cache then the Core 2s. If your motherboard is good you shouldn't have much of a problem overclocking. I have my 2.6Ghz E5300 sitting at 4.5Ghz.
You should be able to get to 3Ghz no problem, just up your FSP from 800 to 1066 to get to 2.93Ghz. You will need to adjust voltages as you go higher.

It's meant to simulate higher technology. I think there was a mod that "fixed" it though, try looking in modlink.net.
[editline]3rd January 2011[/editline]
nvm modlink.net is outdated.

This is the man who believed a friend when he said that del system32 would let him install Garry's Mod addons. He also built his computer. :ohdear:

It's like system32, but for 64 bit Windows. lol.
you need to boot into Mac OS to use Mac-specific stuff too.
There's nothing a Mac can do that a PC can't. And no, Mac programs aren't "higher quality".
The hell is system64?
I can see where he got the idea from. Hell, I thought that going from a 32bit OS to a 64bit OS would change the folder to System64.
So much content in the last few pages. "Photoshopfor windows doesn't exist", rofl.
There is no system64. If anything, there's something called SysWOW64
Why does Windows x64 store 64 bit files in system32 and 32 bit files in SysWOW64? That just makes no sense.

I love using one program as an example... Pixelmator for Windows, get going

I'm Not familiar with the program, what's it do. Google makes me think its just another image editor, but that cant be the case of your trying to prove a point.
Edit: nope, just another paid image editor. I raise you a GIMP, free and just as good.
aw shite, I thought it was free.

I see your command prompt and I raise you... Terminal

I see your dock and raise you rainmeter and rocket dock. Then I see your cloudapp and raise you a fluffy app and drop box.
I would image but I'm on this fucking shitty iPad that I would sell in a minute of it wasn't my dad's. After using this for a week I feel like I need my brain bleached.

You're logged in as a normal user, not root. You need to be root to do anything useful with apt-get.
For overclocking your CPU I'd say it is safe to up the voltage a very minor amount.
I know I couldn't be fucked i just fired it up

I've always wondered.
Why is 64bit Windows called x64, when 32bit Windows is called x86?
Might be a dumb question, but I've never been able to explain it to anyone asking.

x86 is short for i386, the full name of the architecture. x64 is short for x86_64
Brother: *sees FRAPS icon on my desktop*
WTF is Fraps?
Later
*sees FRAPS on G19 screen*
OH! I figured it out!
FRAPS is your keyboard! :smug:

In the beginning, Intel made a chip, called (quite creatively) the 8086. It was used in the first IBM PC, the system that every single PC is, by definition, compatible with.
Later, Intel made newer, better chips. The 80286. The 80386, also called the i386, was the first 32-bit processor. The i486. Some documents will refer to the Pentium as the i586, and the Pentium Pro as the i686.
Competitors followed similar schemes. AMD had the Am286, the Am386, the Am486, and the Am5x86. Cyrix had the Cx486, Cx5x86, and the 6x86. NexGen had the Nx586 and the Nx686. All of these are, essentially, compatible.
The instruction set architecture they all use is known as the i386 ISA, or (more generally) the x86 ISA.
There are many names the 64-bit extension to x86 goes by. Some call it AMD64, even when on an Intel. Intel calls it x86-64, with the old one called x86-32 when being precise. Microsoft and Sun Microsystems are the only ones who really call it x64.
