No, gamerscore is points you get for unlocking achievements. It's basically the Xbox Live e-peen. You have to buy Microsoft Points to purchase anything from the store

When I have enough money for my build, I am going to use my old computer to host all my steam game files and a game server.
What distro of linux would be best suited for this?
<- linux nub
I would say Ubuntu is the best multipurpose distro for beginners and noobs. Works great for basic hosting too

People are probably going to suggest Arch.
But what do I know.
I'm the one who overwrote their MBR trying to install Linux. :downs:

For a Game server I would suggest a debian based distro, or just debian, Except without the GUI.
Just install Samba, Set privileges and mount as network drive, it's what I do, much easier than going into FTP all the fucking time.
Oh my god I love this guy.

Installing Arch as a server is one of the stupidest things you can do due to the rolling release
If you're going to run a linux server it would be best not to use the GUI. It takes some time to get used to it. Many distributions have a lot of documentation.
I would recommend Ubuntu server edition. It makes the server installation process rather easy. It doesn't give you a GUI interface tho.
As for what wingless said. Samba is a piece of software that allows you to create network shares. Setting up SSH would also be a good idea. It will allow you to connect remotely. There are also a few extra steps needed to make the srcds start on boot.
I shouldn't be too hard. There is a learning curve but you should get it quickly. Also, ubuntu is very documented so it's a good choice.
I'll be setting up a dedicated Minecraft server as soon as I get a power supply for it (Buying from some guy not far from where I live)
My original plan was to hook the server up to my main screen, then connect it to the internet and install TeamViewer. The rest I could do from my PC.
It seems like a good plan to me, but I'm no expert.
But would using Linux be a better idea?

on the sparkbrowser maker.
Dear god what the fuck :psypop:
I guess registration for that is just a 1 minute form?
Brb registering and then making a Facepunch web browser. The special user useability feature is the automatic redirection to Facepunch.

Don't use Teamviewer, Just use a VNC Setup. A good one is UltraVNC.

I really doubt they'd like someone distributing their evaluation installer in a "high-traffic" environment.

Linux would be perfect for that, instead of TeamViewer you could simply use SSH to connect and have no interface for the server. And run minecraft server in a screen session.
I think I'll just get ubuntu with the GUI, I want to have steam running on it.

why do you want to run steam? ughuguhgghhg

I have no idea how to do that.
What is SSH? What is a screen session?

Does UltraVNC have an option for starting up when the computer starts up?

SSH is basically a remote terminal, if you know what I mean...

I have shit-loads of games and my family gets pissed when I download them, so I want to keep backups.
I also want to run a game server.
It's a fucking studio 540 what the hell else do I do with it?
Plus people will think I am the shit if I have a server with all my stuff on it.
Hehe, people are stupid.
