What are some cool things to do on school computers? I already have a shit-ton of portable apps.
[img_thumb]http://i.imgur.com/23aBh.jpg[/img_thumb]
I'd rather torrent it. Oh wait that doesn't sound right.

They're breaching copyright for selling those disks.
At our school we only have to find a proxy without the word "proxy" in the url :smug:
It doesn't do Youtube or anything fancy, though it will probably be snappier than most of the slow, public proxies: http://bj0.org/pr0xi
I'm back guys, and I have some semi-content from my school. I've been having an arguement with three other guys in my math class. They are extreme console fanboys, and for the past week I have been attempting to convince them that PC is at very least equal to consoles. They simply will not believe that PC is good for gaming at all, and that consoles are always better. They can't be convinced that a PC can easily beat any console graphicaly: They don't understand that PCs can handle more complex effects. They also think that the selection of PC games is terrible and there are few, if any, good games for it. They also seem to think PC is extremely prone to hacking, and that a keyboard and mouse is a terrible gaming controll option. I've tried everything, from showing them PC screenshots of Crysis 2, naming good games, and explaining to them that hacking games is NOT an easy task and that a keyboard and mouse is easier than a controller, but nothing seems to work. Also, I'm going to begin building my gaming rig sometime next month, and I'm thinking of showing them Crysis on maxed settings on an HDTV.

Even that old thing can run circles around the XBox. And then when I pull off some crazy shit in UT or CS, they realize I'm right. And, of course, show them my 200+ Steam library...
I convinced my friends PC was just as good as consoles but they still say playing with a mouse and keyboard is "easy mode" :frog: Every single time I played CoD with them I raged at the amount of auto-aim they have, it's just about as close to target lock as you can get and I hate how it's like it takes control of your movement. Though I was pretty drunk last time I played BO with them... that could affect my judgment.
My motherboards onboard sound from 3.5mm jack was retarded and would have feedback whenever I moved my mouse and stuff, so I decide to use a old 5.1 system as a DAC, so I plug in the TOSLINK and the pos cover for TOSLINK on the motherboard just lodges into it. I had to tweeze the thing out and now it's working awesomely.
Well shit... I just discovered the motherboard I wanted to get (p8p67 pro) has a lot of booting issues. Time to change my plans again.
My [del]friend[/del] classmate finally admitted that mouse and keyboard was better than an Xbox controller. But then he said having a better controller makes everything way easier, and therefore removes the challenge and the fun. My response was that if a worse controller is more fun, then why don't we use sticks to poke large buttons mounted on the wall. Surely that would be more challenging and therefore fun, right? :downs: Also, this guy is a total idiot. I've had content from him in this thread multiple times.

It's not like the Keyboard n Mouse are going up against the Controller, so really there's no reason to compare the two. I know people who suck with keyboards and mice, but are amazing with controllers. Just let him use what he wants to use, it's all preference.

Or he can just pretend his has one of those adapter things.
He may need an xbox controller. Or he can just pretend his has one of those adapter things.
Not hard, Just get a wired 360 controller, Most games support them. [editline]14th January 2011[/editline]
Same thing for us, Deep Freeze and McAffee really slow everything down. I wonder why schools decide to go through that much shit, installing some simple thing like Ubuntu would make it impossible for dumbasses to "delete system32 and go faster hurr" because most of them can't rm -rf / and all the virii-filled flash drives wouldn't harm anything. There would be some problems with training the staff and teachers to use it though. Also, our techs forgot to block nimp.org, so tempting even though DeepFreeze will make everything fine after rebooting :saddowns:.
Most schools don't use linux because of the lack of applications like MS Word and a lot of other software and wine just wont cut it.
you mean 156 right
I already told him on steam, He said he didn't count :v:.
Put a game on the TV at amazing quality with the machine hidden and with an xbox controller connected, they when they say it's good, unplug the controller and put in a keyboard and mouse
I already told him on steam, He said he didn't count :v:.
He could show them my library then.

Page fix.
Good thing Crysis has the Games for Windows label and thus has controller support.
And I thought that the "Games for Windows" was just the new "PC DVD" label
I loathe games for windows...
I loathe games for windows...
Games for Windows is fine. All it means is it passed some basic certifications. Games for Windows Live is a completely different thing, both in that it's unconnected, and in that it sucks ass.
I loathe games for windows...
I know, right? I fucking hate x64 compatibility, regular and widescreen resolution support and controller support!
Installing Windows NT Workstation. I found that CD, when I was looking for XP CD :D  Also, I got chocolate for lending my external HDD. F Yeah!

Terminal? Transmitter? :v:
