I've read some article about AMOLED on the Galaxy S4 actually gives accurate colors finally. No idea where it was though.
Kaabii would probably know more.

It seems as though from videos on YouTube there are options on your first boot to choose pre-set contrast options. There's different dynamic settings as well as Adobe's own RBG scheme that you can change to. It seems as though they've taken the claims of over saturated colours into their designs and tweaked it accordingly
Fortunately not. It's just below the lens and somehow doesn't affect it.
The glass on the back of the Nexus 4 is so weak, it's a joke.
After testing my camera again today it does seem to have affected it quite severely.

No way am I paying LG £100 to put the same thin glass on there again..
Just saying, I've actually looked at GSMArena's "source" for "accurate AMOLED", and it's full of shit. Gamma is still wrong so the screen goes to black too quickly causing some rather nasty black clipping in shadows, gamut on Adobe RGB is calibrated for Adobe RGB, which actually means it's still ~130% of sRGB, the actual color space of all Android phones and PCs.
The only thing that Samsung got right was white point. I applaud them for finally fixing that, but don't think that they've fixed calibration for a second, not when the only thing Apple and HTC haven't fixed is white point.

Buy your own glass and replace it? AFAIK it's only as much work as replacing the back glass of an iPhone 4/4S, which basically means it's like a removable backplate but it's held on by two screws.
Has anyone ever tested the time it takes for the other person to receive a text message? My friend always gets my texts in like 5 minutes, so I'm kinda interested in knowing.
Until Samsung ships their phones with an sRGB color mode, with proper color space calibration, gamma, white point, reduces power consumption on white, fixes the color shifting from off angle viewing, increases peak brightness to IPS levels, and stops doing that motherfucking mDNIe sharpening, they will still be behind IPS used in Apple, LG, Sharp, HTC, and Oppo.

Seconds, if the SMSC isn't loaded to hell.

The only thing I applaud them for is that Samsung sets the UI and gallery to 24bit color. Nexus devices look horrendous with their banding.

AdobeRGB. Even if it does set itself perfectly to that, which it won't, it'd still be entirely useless. sRGB is the standard, and Samsung phones are worse than both by shipping at NTSC as though Samsung intends their phones to only be used for watching movies.

Tell that to people who are convinced any OLED is infinitely better than an IPS panel.
Edit:
Also Hunt3r. I was playing around with an HTC One a couple days ago, loaded on some 10bit 1080p TV shows and also Displaymate's mobile image suite. With a Retina MBP 15" as reference I can say the screen looked very accurate by eye anyway(I don't have a colorimeter or spectrometer). So blatant how much better it does with red and blue than an iPad Mini, and even better with the greens too.
Anyway what I wanted to say was that it didn't look like a white point of 8000 like some people are reporting, so it might depend on which one you end up with. It's definitely not standard, which is pretty apparent next to a calibrated Retina MBP but definitely sufficient for a phone display, and definitely the best I've ever seen. The iPhone 5 colors are probably a teensy bit better like with the Butterfly vs iPhone 5, but it's such a minuscule difference and I didn't even notice. So I guess One is greater than 5, and a hell of a lot greater than 4.

I'm pretty sure that there's variance in white point, I compared two One display models and one had noticeably warmer whites, in fact it looked even a bit warmer than my 8X. Not sure what's going on there, maybe the switch to JDI has increased the variance between panels.

Well it's REALLY not a big issue, but yeah I just wanted to say this one looked a lot closer to standard than the 7500-8000 that was being thrown around, considering those are AMOLED level white points.
Gah this is bullshit I'm not prepared to pay $10 more per month for a Black One, really wanted it too.
Additional payment per month for a different color variant?
lolwut
I meant the cheaper carrier (Also the current one I use) doesn't have the silver. The CHEAPEST option with Stealth Black is $70 :v:
I thought they're gonna charge you additional 10 bucks a month because you wanted a different color phone. :v:
I mean I wouldn't be surprised, companies tend to pull some weird shit like that.

One morning I was sitting in one of my lectures and I saw a big guy in a suit with a phone case like that. I burst out laughing because it looked so hilarious

What can they do to existing HTC Ones? I'm guessing they'll come to an agreement eventually.
STMicroelectronics is the company that should be in trouble for this tbh. But of course Nokia is gonna want to stop/delay One's sales.

Not sell them. The ones that are already sold are not really affected by this.
Better grab mine tomorrow then :v:
HTC should have known. You bet your future on a flagship device and you should be checking to make sure it's completely defended from these sorts of issues. It's obviously possible because Nokia and Apple have done a fine job of not getting their phones banned for using hardware they're not allowed to.
They'll just change the microphone but its just another issue with the launch and its not going to help them at all.
Yep, the stupidly placed HTC logo on the One got button'd:
we do not expect this decision to have any immediate impact on our handset sales.

According to All About Phones NL, the ruling won't halt sales of One devices already out there, with the court stating that HTC was "blameless" and that it couldn't have known about the contract between Nokia and STMicroelectronics. In short, you'll still be able to buy HTC's flagship in the Netherlands with those dual high-amp mics in tow -- at least for now.
Is this decent quality for a 5MP phone camera?

Will do, I told him he needs to post it on Facebook when he gets it.
EDIT: He was complaining about the speaker being really quiet when the back is flat on the desk, I'm sure the cat on the back will fix that problem nicely!
