The Nexus 4 has no LTE, except by hacking, a terribly calibrated screen (worse than that of the Optimus G, despite being the exact same screen), and only up to 16gb of storage. With the relative ease you can get most phones on an AOSP ROM, or something like one, I do not see why one would need to get a Nexus 4, unless you factor in the fact it is amazingly cheap for its specs.
The problem with AOSP ROMs for many devices is that they can have issues, or performance is worse than stock ROM (Samsung Galaxy S2 was a great example. UI speed was kinda the same on both, but the difference really started showing with games, especially Real Racing 3 for example.) Lack of LTE is a valid point if you live somewhere with LTE. I don't, my country has two cities in "LTE test run" by one carrier only, plus I find HSPA+ to be more than good enough for mobile browsing atm. Storage again, is a valid point if you really need that space. But saying that the Nexus 4 lacks good design has made me hate you :v: + Not many devices have on-screen navigation keys, which I love from day one of having my Nexus 4. There would have to be a fucking miracle to make me use a phone without on-screen navigation keys again. (sure, you can enable them with some custom ROMs, but it just looks stupid if the device already has hardware keys).
Well, I went back to the 3 Store today (as I was told on Monday by a staff member) to collect my Galaxy S4 but it turns out mine hasn't arrived at the store yet, damn. They said it might come tomorrow though but it looks ever so likely that it will show up on Monday. They didn't even contact me before hand to tell me it hadn't arrived, yet on the copy of the reciept I have it clearly states that they'd contact me 'on or before' the 26th to tell me if the phone had arrived. Poor customer service on their side.

LTE's latency alone makes a big difference. I pretty much prefer 2 bars of LTE over five of HSPA+ 42 because I get around the same speed but I still get lower latency.
LTE ain't worth it unless you have a TRULY unlimited data plan.
Lte is only available in the city centre in Australia. So there is no real point. On top of that no unlimited data plans.

I use mobile data mainly for checking emails, a few websites through Opera beta (with the data saving on) and IM.. edit: I guess it's much more worth it if you have a big data plan, or unlimited, as Van-man said. Also doesn't LTE drain battery faster? [sup]* genuine question, not trying to be a smartass[/sup]

It should be strong enough for me to open it without breaking it <.< They called it a user mistake, I'm sad :(

You should send in a formal complaint to Forbrukerombudet or contact them to ask about your situation.
Got myself a One. Such an upgrade from my aging Desire HD  [editline]26th April 2013[/editline] Also my windows have shattered after I forgot to lower the volume.
You should hope nobody calls you at night. If they do, say bye bye to your house :v:

Ran Nexus 4 software to compensate but it looked terrible. My saying the Nexus 4 has bad design came from the fact I had an Optimus G and I felt how slimy and fragile the flat glass back had. Miles behind the HTC One but still better than the Galaxy S4
the xperia z has an official aosp build (it's shit though) i kinda think everything will be blurry though
My Nexus has finally given way after hundreds of drops. The on screen buttons no longer work due to a giant crack at the bottom. Fortunately I'm using Force Rotate so I'm using it upside down. I think it's time I got a new phone.

Also doesn't LTE drain battery faster? [sup]* genuine question, not trying to be a smartass[/sup]
Yeah it does make a huge difference with my music and video streaming. I can tell when Youtube or Netflix is running on HSPA vs LTE. Also I think the idea that it's only useful with unlimited is so wrong that I don't really know what to say to respond to it. Also LTE actually lasts longer on battery with good chips and software because with other 3G technologies that are slower the radio has to remain active for much longer.
Also I think the idea that it's only useful with unlimited is so wrong that I don't really know what to say to respond to it.
Well with a ~300mb FUP you'll stream a few vids, a music album, and you're fucked until next month.
the xperia z has an official aosp build (it's shit though) i kinda think everything will be blurry though
They did say it was for developers to use and contribute to, it's basically a barebones project that anyone can take up. There's plenty of code missing due to licensing issues, hell it even asks you to accept a EULA from Qualcomm to use some binaries.
Well with a ~300mb FUP you'll stream a few vids, a music album, and you're fucked until next month.
Yeah but the same can occur with HSPA. The real issue is that some people change how their use their device because of the higher speeds. I've always just monitored what I do based on how much data I have, so going from HSPA to LTE didn't make me decide to start streaming Netflix 24/7 and putting all my music in the cloud, but I'd imagine some people do end up doing more when there's less waiting time. Mind you, I have 16GB total at my disposal so I really don't care about what I do, but I still only use 5-7GB a month on average and if I stopped tethering, downloading apps over LTE, and streaming in 1920x1080 that'd be cut down a fair amount. If I could just use whatever I wanted I'd probably use a lot more since I'd just make it my home Internet, but having unlimited wouldn't really change my habits on my devices. 300MB though, gosh that's tiny. I know people with LTE phones that have 500MB and they basically just use WiFi a lot. Still, having LTE benefits them when they do have to load web pages and such over cellular because there still is the speed bump for that bit, and the reduced latency. But yeah, I guess in that circumstance you're not benefiting a ton from the raw speed since you use it so little.
I'm just getting around on how to use it, but I made it so that when I connect my charger my phone closes 3G and starts using WiFi instead, and when I disconnect the charger it changes back to 3G and closes WiFi. I also made it open my music player when I connect earphones
I have it prompt me if I plug in a pair of headphones with a microphone on it (and go straight to GMusic if no mic), unless I'm already inside one of a list of apps I set. I also used to have it automatically go to vibrate if the school wifi was in range, and unvibrate itself when it left, though I'm not currently in school and I flashed ROMs without TB'ing the app so I lost that profile.

It's awesome as I don't really need it on silent when I'm on a break. But that's pretty much redundant now as well since I have my pebble. I set a tasker profile to completely silence my phone when connected to pebble.
The only break I ever got was during lunch, and I always left campus for that (and thus left the school wifi range)
What seriously? I have so many classes scheduled with 2 hour breaks in between it's ridiculous. Also boring.
The S3 will be my first smartphone, gotten out of peer pressure (seriously, I want snapchat and quizlet and test for friends and whatnot) - what do I need to know?
What seriously? I have so many classes scheduled with 2 hour breaks in between it's ridiculous. Also boring.
The school in question was a high school. When/if I finally get college rolling I'll have about an hour for lunch, and then a 10 minuter to get between two of my classes. The upside though is only three classes in a day and I only have to take one of those two out of the four days I'm there.
The S3 will be my first smartphone, gotten out of peer pressure (seriously, I want snapchat and quizlet and test for friends and whatnot) - what do I need to know?
you don't need a task manager, you don't need anti-virus, get a screen protector and a case, you should have a Google/Gmail account set up so it's easier to log in, you probably don't need a microSD card unless you actually need it
My phone app stopped working completely today, i could receive calls, but they couldn't hear me and i couldn't hear them. I could send calls, but the app took several seconds to do anything, no dial tone, no sound, no mic. I thought it was ParanoidAndroid since it's a new problem, so i nuked the contents of my phone, did a fresh install of PA and discovered that the phone was still unusable, i could still text and use data. I factory reset the phone one more time and flashed the newest CM10.1 nightly, Phone still out to lunch. Most of the links on google said to reboot several times, battery pull, factory reset etc. Turns out, because the Lockscreen clicky sound was off, CM went full sperg
My friend who had a Nexus S and now has a Note 2 is prone to breaking things. Today his Note 2 broke, the sim card was somehow "disconnected" and he had to reboot his phone.

I love how people are sticking their heads in the sand and trying to ignore that fact.
Ok, thanks. Anyone here did this with this device before? or is there a general guide somewhere? Which release is even the best one?
Any help? I don't want to end up bricking my phone doing it incorrectly.
