do most developers have a "good enough" approach to making android apps? [editline]10th April 2013[/editline] me bitching about shit
Ugh, android devs. Read the godddamn guidelines. Shit, I skimmed them and I don't develop shit.

sorry not sorry
It's just like Tumblr with their new app update. New style? Check. Changed UI? Check. Not-quite-holo-but-kind-of-maybe? Check. Landscape mode? NOPE. Tablet UI? NOPE.
i kinda like the new tumblr app
I'm not sure if anyone has asked before, but is it advisable to root my android tablet? and is it reversible at all? I'm using ICS version 4.0.4.
It's not bad, until you try to use it on a 10 inch tablet. And it could be more #HOLO #YOLO.
the tumblr app is beautiful tbh [editline]10th April 2013[/editline] if it just did the tabs more like the aosp people app it would be so much better

Generally people just say "How do root android?" then get pissed when you ask for more info.)

this is the part when i do a mockup and get bitched at because "developing is hard and nothing like designing" and fair enough but some companies do make really nice apps.
the tumblr app is beautiful tbh [editline]10th April 2013[/editline] if it just did the tabs more like the aosp people app it would be so much better
It's gorgeous on the phone. The lack of a tablet UI really hacks me off, though. 10 inch tablets are not made for portrait mode, especially the transformers.
this is the part when i do a mockup and get bitched at because "developing is hard and nothing like designing" and fair enough but some companies do make really nice apps.
Yeah, that's a really poor argument from people who say that. If you can't do it, why not try finding people who can instead of up bad excuses? There's people who will even help with design for free (just on reddit there's someone like every three months) but seriously the double menu button just made me laugh. How can you live with yourself if you release that? :v:
this is the part when i do a mockup and get bitched at because "developing is hard and nothing like designing" and fair enough but some companies do make really nice apps.
Who bitches at you for that? Developing is hard, sure, so ask someone like YOU to do the design. And actually follow the design and not half ass implement your own ideas anyways like some developers *kuch* 90night *kuch*.
Also, in case anyone here uses Viber (I don't, WhatsApp <3), this popped up on their facebook wall yesterday. [t]https://fbcdn-sphotos-c-a.akamaihd.net/hphotos-ak-prn1/541704_552210621486447_42485571_n.jpg[/t] Yes, they're getting rid of the full iOS UI port. This new mockup looks much like the People app.
that looks great!
that looks great!
Maybe developers are finally getting the hint? That Android should have its own design for apps? Or maybe they were pushed into this by WhatsApp releasing their new interface, making Viber look even worse than before (and I thought that wasn't possible). I just hope the UI doesn't change much with 5.0. I'm pretty sure we'll see more card based interfaces, but it shouldn't change too much so all the apps that currently fit in wouldn't look out of place and require major changes.

i hate cards they only look nice in google now and that's it [editline]10th April 2013[/editline] also check this out: https://plus.google.com/113406723988623654387/posts/XtSx5TW24Hf
i hate cards they only look nice in google now and that's it
IDK, keep looks nice. And homescreen UIs that are card based look ok when they're minimal enough.
Cards are pretty IMO, but obviously their use is (and should be) limited. Also, that Gmail concept: WANT
oh yeah they're nice in keep as well. don't like them too much in the play store tbh.
I feel like its overdone in the play store a little bit. Too much grid, not enough list views.
I wish the google now widget was more usable. Why can it only show three cards max? Why can't it scroll? Why can't I swipe a card away from the widget?
For countries with Apps only in the Store, the new app seems to be missing somekind of an app highlight space (as the homescreen in the previous version with app banners that changed weekly) It just opens right at this page: [t]http://i.imgur.com/oN0V8Tm.png[/t] No, don't be silly, I didn't buy Where's My Water, I used the fuckup when Disney games were free, and now I have it legally, free of charge :v:

I have no idea when the updater kicks in and I've not been on wifi that long today, I've tried to get on wifi often to see if it'd update, no luck.
The Apk is on most major android news sites.
