You're thinking of "The Game". Endgame is an album.
uhh he didnt say your desktop was 'the game' just that it caused him to lose
You're thinking of "The Game". Endgame is an album.
perhaps you don't understand the rules of the game. You think it, you lose it. EDIT oh, I broke your auto merge
though its stupid either way
I wasn't going to have this argument, but you asked foir it. now first off, the price. this cannot be ignored. they are way more expensive than they should be, apple has to be making at least %500 profit on those, not to mention many simply can't afford it. then theres upgrade-ability. if you want to add to anything but a mac pro(and even then it can be difficult) you have to either a) throw it out the window and drop 2k on another or b) pay apple to do shit for you. and it's expensive to do so. looks. this is a matter of opinion, but I think, with the exception of the mbp, macs are ugly. and osx is ugly no matter what machine you put it on. and about osx, sorry for not being willing to pay a couple grand for BSD with a different ui. not to mention it's more locked down than any other os. I also find it impossible to work with. and unibaody, while it looks nice, takes away too much for it to be worth that much. then theres the company, apple. I'm going to split this into a few parts: ads: their ads are total bullshit. they manipulate statistics and state opinion as fact, and take advantage of a society that is slowly becoming idiocratic by representing products with people. they take advantage of idiots because macs are designed for idiots and are really only appealing to idiots. steve: steve is an asshole. he surrounds himself with brilliant engineers and takes all the credit. really, when you hear about an apple product, what do you hear? "Steve gave us this, Steve gave us that" you never hear about the people that do the real work, the true creative work. I don't normally like to wish death on others, but in Steve's case I may make an exception. "innovation:" there is no innovation. not there anyway. and their fans are just fucking insane. Steve could take a shit in a shiny aluminum box, sell it for $600, and people would buy it. the only product form apple that is even close to being ok is the MBP, simply because it is the best hardware wise, but that is changing very quickly. and theres alot more against them that I can't quite remember right now.
I never told you to type that but it's interesting to read. I mostly disagree, Microsoft isn't any better and I'm not gonna say why if you don't tell me to. I'm not saying that apple is the best company ever, but they make good stuff, and I've never felt like spending to much on my apple products (except the early ipod models) I strongly dislike your "type" that say: Apple sucks balls, that's it. They just don't fit your taste/needs and because you probably have never owned a mac you have an outside view, and those are always different from what one that uses the products are. I like apple because they build quality products hardware and software wise. And They have good design (witch Microsoft lacks) I can see why one would say their prices are too high, but if I was to use a windows computer with the same specs I'd still not get the same feeling, that it just works, and it does what it's meant to do VERY well. I don't see how you think that os x is a limited OS. After switching from windows and it's constant digging in folders, changing files, trying to find programs that actually work well. I feel like os x is way more evolved. It's always easy to do stuff, and the programs that exist are 90% of the time good quality. The os feels much smoother and doesn't use unnecessary effects to look good, it has also improved my workflow by A LOT. I'd say: If you can't afford an apple product, and are happy using any other, go with it. There's nothing wrong with that. But if you can afford it, and actually use it and let it grow on you without you having prejudices to it, there's no reason not to use it. The only reason I'm still using windows is because of the games, and I've never had a hard time finding a program in OS X that I've used in windows.
^You are missing the point. Apple sell a solution, not a computer. And while the computer inside my MBP is not worth £800, the overall product is. A full sized laptop with 5-7 hour battery life with wifi that is lighter, thinner, looks nicer and is just flat out a better piece of design than anything else out there makes it worth the £800. [editline]10:06PM[/editline] Also how is OS X "locked down"? I don't know much about it (don't need to) but it seems pretty open to me.
a solution to what? free thought? uniqueness? and the battery life is the only unique thing that you listed. there are thinner laptops, and in my opinion, better looking ones, and there are most certainly lighter ones. and nice job choosing the cheapest model for your example. and about the locked down part, try using linux for a while. you'll see what I mean. I hope.
I strongly dislike your "type" that say: Apple sucks balls, that's it. They just don't fit your taste/needs and because you probably have never owned a mac you have an outside view, and those are always different from what one that uses the products are.
well, that is true, I have never owned one, because I have never needed one. but I have used them plenty of times. and I hated it. I once borrowed a friends macbook to check fp, and it was easily the worst ten minutes I have ever spent using a computer. If you don't like it, don't buy it. Stop arguing about it there is no point kthx.

You gotta see the whole picture, different stuff fits different people, don't tell anyone anything sucks just because of your personal opinion. And using something for a little while is always bad. Just like when I use windows laptops, I can't stand it because I'm so used to my macbook, especially the multitouch trackpad. But I'm not saying they suck and that's it, I don't like them but that doesn't mean they're bad.

Like if you eat something for the first time, you don't like it. But after a couple of times, you'll begin to like it.
Second desktop reminds me of Rusty.
funnily enough that's because that's one of my quite old wallpapers

Plenty of companies have them and asus personally uses a better touch pad than apple. I has multitouch and great sensitivity.
tell me what can osx do that windows can't?
No need for anti virus, no disk fragmentation, exposé, completely 64-bit, super smart battery saving (os x on a normal laptop will give you longer battery life) If your computer running os x will die because of no battery or other reason, it will resume exactly from where it died, even playing youtube videos and so on. Only things I see windows doing better is gaming and server hosting.

I believe windows 7 has similar features. I know for certain that it dims the screen. also, asus laptops have a power management tool. 6. it's called hibernate. been a feature of windows for a very long time. unless you mean the power cutting out instantly.
