1. icons don't slow anything down 2. who needs the recycling bin?
I know icons don't slow it down but they represent programs. Also is there a way to get rid of the recycling bin without hiding icons?
Ah, fresh re-install of 7. Love it. Snappy and clean :)
Lol at Minefield. [editline]11:05PM[/editline] Content. Edit: You're dumb.
I know icons don't slow it down but they represent programs. Also is there a way to get rid of the recycling bin without hiding icons?
in both 7 and vista, you can just click on it and press delete.
1. haven't used an AV in 1.5 years and I'm fine. and someday there will be a good mac virus. 2. defragging is rare. only ever needed to once. 3. alright, expose. but I personally don't like it. 4. win7 is fully 64 bit. 5. I believe windows 7 has similar features. I know for certain that it dims the screen. also, asus laptops have a power management tool. 6. it's called hibernate. been a feature of windows for a very long time. unless you mean the power cutting out instantly.
But most users need an anti virus, and if disk fragmentation was only in os x and I'd tell you to mention weaknesses in os x, you'd mention it. I know win7 is that, but you still have to choose, and you need special hardware to run it, all intel macs can run SL. I was talking about a complete power cut and the equivalent of bsod.
I was talking about a complete power cut and the equivalent of bsod.
thats not possible AFAIK. once you cut power whatever's in RAM is gone. unless it's constantly storing it on the hard drive.
Temp stuff isn't stored in ram eh.
thats not possible AFAIK. once you cut power whatever's in RAM is gone. unless it's constantly storing it on the hard drive.
Well, technically RAM does take a while to unload, but that means restarting your PC within a minute or something, so let's assume it's impossible. I'm guessing it would be if it made timely backups of the RAM.
Where can I get some good themes/ gadget thingys for windows 7?
Your guys' gadget dealios look different than mine and stuffs
[img_thumb]http://filesmelt.com/downloader/omGwallpapeR.png[/img_thumb] The guy who made the main monitor's wallpaper does some pretty sweet renders.
True, but he lacks details like wear and tear, areas of neglect, and it just has an overall plastic look to it. :/
Still need to clean it up.
True, but he lacks details like wear and tear, areas of neglect, and it just has an overall plastic look to it. :/
thats whats awesome about it
thats whats awesome about it
Exactly. They remind me of the Mirrors Edge art style. Everything is so clean.
Thanks for that Simple Desktops link. The wallpaper stops JUST above the dock so it's perfect.
Tell me what windows can do that os x can't? (except the gaming).
Right-click.
Right-click.
Wrong.
a solution to what? free thought? uniqueness? and the battery life is the only unique thing that you listed. there are thinner laptops, and in my opinion, better looking ones, and there are most certainly lighter ones. and nice job choosing the cheapest model for your example. and about the locked down part, try using linux for a while. you'll see what I mean. I hope.
An IT solution? Come on don't play this dumb. And yes there are thinner and lighter laptops (Macbook Air for a start), but for the power and specs it is pretty sweet. And battery life is pretty important imo. It's why I went from netbook to Macbook. I wanted a full power machine (to an extent) that has comparable battery life, and Macs currently fit into that. And my (base model) MBP cost £770 from Apple store so I'm assuming the unibody MB is down at ~£600 so it wasn't the cheapest for sure. There is the still the Mac Mini which retains all the same perks bar battery life. And not being as open as Linux is a silly example. You could do a lot worse than OS X. It's just an awful lot cleaner than Windows. Hell the base level shit is open source for mac (although it is nothing like OS X). I admit an iMac is fully retarded unless you love OS X out of the box, but for a Mac mini or a Macbook, it works quite well.

They start at $1699 and it has the resolution of 2560x1440 which is amazing, to get a 30" monitor at 2560x1600 you have to spend $1300 just for the LCD, so from that perspective it's actually pretty economical. For someone that doesn't game but wants a pristine work environment it would be a great recommendation in my book.
macs are bad
They look fucking incredible, but as a machine I think it could be better
I think it looks amazing but it really needs a big bump in the graphics department.
Less mac talk more desktalk (geddit?)

I just won't buy a mac, no matter how well designed, simply because I hate apple as a company.
I actually think the new 27" iMac looks fantastic.

are you ever going to pay back john?
When I have the money, yes.
My TV is connected with my PC so there are 2 wallpapers in case you're wondering:
how is it cleaner than windows? and the IT solution part... you're on of those "it just works lololol" people aren't you? my windows/linux machine "just works" as well.
It's cleaner because Apple obsesses over the UI and makes sure it is polished as hell, and developers take note of this and follow this standard (mostly). I mean you still have shit like the Win 95 recycle bin icon kicking about in Windows, and bunches of other legacy cruft. I know that MS is a slave to backwards compatibility as far as they can manage (for the most part) but sometimes things need shaking up, something that Apple with it's smaller userbase can do time and time again keeping everything modern and fresh. And it's a solution because if you buy a Mac, Apple will install software before hand, they'll offer you tech support and discounts on printers and other accessories. Granted it is mostly Apple software and Apple accessories, but it all counts towards the solution they provide to people. And I never said Windows and Linux don't work, I'm just saying Apple aren't as useless as you seem to think
Less brownnosing Apple & Co, more desktop stuff.
