bought a 'gaming' keyboard once, never used any of the gaming features on it...
I've been using my CM storm sentinel for quite time time, but the biggest deciding factor in my buying it is it's awesome price and the fact i have never see a mouse fit my hand so snugly.
the screen is gimmicky, but sometimes useful, considering i normally use it with 5600 DPI, but when playing any game as a sniper/against snipers i turn it down
The sensor on those mice is absolutely horrendous - tracks worse than a £5 optical mouse.
bought a 'gaming' keyboard once, never used any of the gaming features on it...
Bought the same, used the features.
Only real "gaming hure dure" features you get are macro buttons and maybe a usb/3.5mm headphone and microphone jack, which are somewhat useful. Clearly you sometimes can do just as well without em, but that doesn't make it bad features.

If you're using 800DPI for gaming, you might as well go play on a console.
MY buddy had a steelseries mouse with the way he holds the mouse he'd click the wheel in wile right clicking. He ditched it for a deathadder (40% lower price) and says it's 100% better.

no and shutup
My Logitech G5v2 is dieing, sporadically disconnects and reconnects from usb. I'm debating between just replacing it with an MX518 or a higher DPI mouse.
Any suggestions from you guys? Don't recommend any of those soft rubberized mice, they tend to just rub off quickly because of how oily my skin is.
I only use these and there nothing to do with gaming but there cheap, strong and look cool in my opinion.

G500 if you want a slightly better mouse with the same shape, Xai if you want a much better mouse
the funny thing is that whenever people talk shit about razer, the deathadder happens to be better than every Logitech mouse besides the G9x

in pure performance I mean, in comfort and build quality? debatable
I have to agree, other than my funky scroll wheel (a problem they are once again refusing to acknowledge, whether it's a hardware, or a software issue I do not know. The wheel teeth look fine). The deathadder has been a great mouse. And it is fairly comfortable compared to other razer mice I have used.
For keyboard, I'd say the Logitech G110 keyboard. It's a great keyboard for $80, and has plenty of features. It has key lighting, Windows key lock, 36 macro keys (3 sets of G1-G12 controlled by M1, M2, M3 keys), set macros in-game, headset mute, headset mic mute, key lighting switch, Play/Pause, Stop, Back, Forward keys, mute button, and barrel volume control (I fucking love the volume control, it's fast and easy). It also has a removable bar for your hands, but I prefer mine off. In addition to all of that, it has a USB port and green and pink ports for headsets.

I can't say much for the mouse because I'm currently using this as a replacement for a broken Logitech mouse that came with my computer, I'm getting a laser mouse sometime.

Wow thanks for the helpful reply.
I'd recommend http://geekhack.org/ for keyboard advice. They also know all the good deals on mechanical keyboards. Trust me, once you use a mechanical keyboard, you don't go back.
I can understand having a "gaming" mouse for the sensibility thing, but I don't see a single valid reason to have a "gaming" keyboard, because it's basically the same thing for me.
I use a normal keyboard with a Logitech G51 mice.

Is it also good for gaming or are you just using it to write?
Is it also good for gaming or are you just using it to write?
I use it for gaming, mostly fps. I did have a Sidewinder x6 and I have to say I really prefer the Model M, it feels like quality and well, it sure takes abuse a whole lot better.
Get a mechanical keyboard. I reccomend the Steelseries 7G.
As for mouse, Steelseries Ikari or Xai.
a4 tech keyboard and apple magic mouse
best gaming perpherials
do buy

The rubber domes have unpridictable actuation (the keys are engaged differently depending on how they're pressed). In a world like professional gaming where one keypress can cost you a $50000 game you don't want to have the key be fucking up. But if you're just playing tf2 at home there's no point. People usually get mechanical keyboard when they think it'll improve their game, when money's on the line or when you need to type really fast and accurately.
Can you safely say that youd still want to use your rubber dome keyboard at 300 apm in the gsl finals playing Starcraft 2 where there is thousands of dollars American on the line? I didn't think so.

You might play slightly better with a black switch mechanical - perhaps give the Meka G1 a try. Wish they were available with a UK layout :saddowns: (Still very happy with my 7G though)
If you're playing well on a rubber dome as I was, any tactile mechanical switches will probably be a sidegrade for gaming purposes.

The main upside to the mechanical boards is how long they last. Clears and browns have feel similar to rubber domes, they are nice because there isn't much change going from the to something like a laptop keyboard.
I always view gear for professional gamers as not the differentiating factor. Its all skill for how well you do. The feel of your setup is important, mechanical boards lasts longer. Starcraft is one of the games thats really hard on keyboards, it makes sense to have something that will last longer.
Mechanical boards aren't much of a difference for an FPS, but it makes typing nicer and feels very solid. Means I am not killing my laptop keyboard as fast. L4D is seriously played in multiple tournaments.

it's pretty much dead now though
the inability to run servers at a tickrate above 30 drove a lot of people away. Instead of being rewarded for being more skilled than your opponents, you're being punished because they aim incorrectly and get lucky 24/7 when your shots don't register because you're actually aiming at a hunter or smoker
[editline]7th June 2011[/editline]
been playing some 100 tick L4D2 though (without boomers which are broken, why it's not used in L4D1) and it's much better. The skill ceiling rose immensely and I think that's why some people are pushing away from it; they don't want to be found out for actually being terrible which is 99% of the community
