no, but their target market is
[editline]04:04AM[/editline]
still laughing so hard at the idiots who stuck with 1366 for it
iirc as the process gets smaller, so does the manufacturing costs. If they made the 980X on 45nm it would probably be 1. too expensive and 2. too hot.
@above
they're not exactly idiots, they're a bunch of dumb 12/13/15 year olds who think moar cores = beter gaeming. The others were benchmarkers/enthusiasts/people who would use 6-12 threads.. They were hoping for 600. I don't think anybody bought 1366 for the soul purpose of getting a i7 980X. most of the people who wanted to get a 980X were people who already had 1366, and heard about the "i9" on the roadmap.
Well, the 930 will be replacing the 920, but will it be similarly priced? Cause honestly, it is $200 at microcenter, and i really don't want the 930 to come out and have to deal with having to pay an extra $70 because i was a couple days late...
Yeah, I'm pretty sure they'll be close to eachother by price
Why is everyone acting the like the Core i7 Extreme 980X price is so extreme? Do you remember the Q9775 at $1700? For being the top line processor it's nice to see them maintaining the lower price.

The i7 975 was also $999 on release.
The one grand price mark isn't anything really new.
Figures I bought an i5 when they first come out not even 6 months later some better ones come out.

6 months (or nearly) are quite a lot for computer hardware.
6 months (or nearly) are quite a lot for computer hardware.
I know but it's just that it went so fast.
Couldn't they just make the i10 faster?
For $2000, I'll give you an i12 :smugdog:
Teh i5's look pretty awesome. Teh i3's look ok too. Teh i9 looks overpriced.

Fuck, thats going to cost more than my PC when I bother to upgrade. Jesus Christ, other than benchmarkers, who is slightly crazy enough to pay for that? I'll stick with an i5 thanks :ohdear:
can't wait to see how the i3 does. I'm not looking to actually get one but it'll be interesting to see how it performs in relation to the current Q8200/8400/etc line considering they're projected to be the same price as they go for now.
I was thinking of upgrading my current Q6600 with something faster.
Should I get the current i5, or one of these babies?

For gaming you should get an i5, but wait for the new ones.
I'd wait for benchmarks before deciding.
CES 2009 (Jan 3rd It starts I think), they'll have benchies and everything out by then.
Shame there isn't a 32nm i5 750 variant :saddowns:. Maybe there is a Xeon eqv. of what I described.. we'll see

I was kind of disappointed too when they were first announced and I found out there weren't any 32nm quads, but I'm sure they'll turn out some eventually.
bump, the chips are now released,

I'm getting my i9 in February.
(Gotta love tax season. ^_^ )
Wait, what? The 660, 661, and 670 dual core i5's are more expensive than the original 750 quad core?

Integrated Graphics.

there isn't a i9, that was a rumor it was named to be that.

this, and turbo boost up to 3.7 GHz on some chips.
Integrated Graphics.
That's all? Then the 670 is way overpriced.

Still overpriced.
Then I guess the i7 975 is what I'm going to buy I suppose. -_-
No new i7's were revealed today? That's disappointing, when does the i7 980 getting revealed officially?

wow are you trolling or just really dumb? you've been posting crap recently.

the 980X is out Q1, there isn't a specific date.
But, why are people so crazy about getting a 32nm quad core? It will be NO faster than a 45nm quad core, it will just run cooler and use less power, but in no way is it faster. The new i3s and i5s are 32nm more so because they have a IGP. You can't fit a 45nm die with a 45nm IGP.
it will just run cooler and use less power
Exactly, better for overclocks and your power bill.
I would like to see how the new i3s and i5s compare to AMDs Phenom II Quads
update, the 930 is indeed 45nm

a guy at OCN is destroying his i5 for us .
he's putting it under LN[tab]2[/tab] later. this is on water..

Hmm, I'm hoping to buy an i7 920 this weekend, along with pretty much everything else for an entirely new build (yay for finally getting away from my crappy dual core AMD). Now the question is, wait and see about the 930, or just buy the 920 and overclock like I'm planning to do anyway?
